3 ADA CONSIDERATIONS WHEN INSTALLING PET CARE STATIONS ADA accessibility requirements are becoming an increasingly important consideration when choosing the design of a petwash station. At this time, there is no clear definition for petwash accessibility. Exactly what qualifies as an ADA compliant petwash tub is subject to interpretation. In general, the requirements usually cited to qualify for ADA compliance include some or all of the following: Amount of clearance between the bottom the tub and the floor. This is to allow adequate access for persons in wheelchairs. Rim height of the tub. Depth of the tub from rim to tub bottom (or from rim to the surface the dogs will be standing on). Faucet unit control mounting elevation and maximum reach to operate the faucet handles and access the hose and sprayer. Tethering restraint point maximum reach requirements. Size and configuration of undertub obstructions attached to the tub structure. In some cases, interpretations of ADA compliance will result in the need to install a petwash tub that is less than optimally user-friendly, even though the tub meets the technical requirements. In such cases, it may become necessary to install more than one petwash tub so that there is a combination of ADA compliance and user-friendliness, space permitting. 8 PRO SERIES STAINLESS STEEL DOG WASH TUB Cleaning Stainless Steel Tubs Stainless Steel can be kept shiny and beautiful with little maintenance and with simple products from the grocery store. NOTE: While the cleaning products mentioned here are for everyday household use, wearing rubber gloves is recommended to reduce the possibility of skin irritation. The method to keep this stainless steel gleaming with a mirror finish: First, note that there is a grain to the steel. Always rub in the direction of the grain. 1. Using a packaged glass wipe such as Windex or Pledge, rub a portion of the stainless steel to remove fingerprints and other dirt. 2. IMMEDIATELY dry that area using a NO-LINT type cloth 3. Follow up on this now-dry area with a (dry) Magic Erase-type pad for a mirror shine. Drying the tub at the end of the day is always recommended this will help keep the surface spot-free. When a cleaning compound is needed, the use of a specialized powdered cleaner such as Cameo or Barkeeper s Friend is recommended. Mix a small amount of powder with water and wipe the areas with a sponge, then rinse thoroughly. Take caution to always rub in the direction of the grain of the steel to avoid creating scratches. Follow with the Cleaning Method. For really difficult-to-remove spots and to remove scratches and mineral deposits: You may see white spots on your tub that are created by minerals left after water dries, or iron in your water can create freckles that look like rust but are actually iron deposits left on the surface. Wiping your tub with white vinegar can help remove the white mineral spots. Refer to the paragraph above for use of a powdered compound such as Cameo or Barkeeper s Friend to remove the iron deposits. If you have used the recommended cleaning powders but still see these raised deposits, very fine-gage sandpaper, which can be found in the paint department of most hardware stores, can be used to remove scratches and raised deposits. Use a small piece of the sandpaper, rub very lightly following the grain of the steel and follow with the Cleaning Method. (Do not use anything metal-based - such as Brillo pads - on stainless steel, as the particles left behind from the cleaning pad can adhere to the surface and will actually create more iron deposits). 9 PRO SERIES STAINLESS STEEL DOG WASH TUB Warranty Tubs are warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE YEAR from purchase date. This warranty applies to all features and components of the metal structure. Nitrile rubber insert pads (if included) are considered to be wear-out components and not covered by this warranty. Whenever a tub requires repair or replacement under the terms of this warranty, it must be shipped prepaid to the manufacturer. Manufacturer will, at its discretion, repair or replace any tub requiring service under terms of this warranty at no charge to the owner of the bathtub. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the tub. It cannot be transferred to a secondary party. Damage caused by misuse or mishandling of the product will not be covered under terms of the warranty. Terms of the warranty are subject to change at any time without notice.
