3 1 Foreword These operating and installation instructions are a supplement to the TR series heater. Instead of the location of the ventilator being on the back of the appliance as standard, there are ducting connections on the front and the rear. The appliance is not fitted with a displacement ventilator that blows the air through. The TR heater without ventilator but with ducting connections, is designated with the letter D in the type designation, e.g. TR100 D. This installation and user manual for the TR heater is the leading document for the installation of this appliance. These operating and installation instructions deal with the specific matters that apply to supplementary use and installation of an appliance with ducting connections. 2 Technical Data Dimensions The drawings from the heaters can be found in the back of this manual. Type Weight (kg) Air side connection 3.1 Connection to the ducting The appliance is provided with a connection flange to which the coupling of the external duct can be fitted. The dimensions of the flange can be found on the drawings in the back of this manual. 3.2 Minimum air volumes At all times, make sure that the minimum required volumes of air are taken in as listed in the table.. If these air volumes are not supplied satisfactorily, the heat exchanger will be thermally overloaded. The consequence is that the heat exchanger may fail prematurely. This may invalidate the guarantee. There is a balance between air volume and the air temperature. In the table below, the air volume is listed with an air supply temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. When the supply air temperature is lower, the amount of air can be lower. For every 10 degrees lower, the air amount may be lowered with 15% Air volume Min. Air high setting m3/hr Min. 5 3.4 Minimum distances to bends and other fittings It is important that the air is blown across the entire surface of the heat exchanger. For instance, if the air blows only onto the lower part of the heat exchanger, the upper part may cool insufficiently and overheat. The unit must have a straight section of ducting in the front and at the rear of the heat exchanger. The installer carries the responsibility for the correct blow pattern of the heat exchanger. If these conditions are not met, the heat exchanger will become thermally overloaded beyond its designed capacity, with the consequence that the heat exchanger may fail prematurely. This may invalidate the guarantee. 4 Electrical connection 4.1 General The installation must comply with local and/or national regulations. Ensure that it is connected to the correct consumer group with MCB, RCD or main fuse. The wiring diagram for the appliance can be found at the end of this manual. Electrical data Duct U (Volt) P (W) Supply 2V AC The supply is 2Vac. with earth connection. The appliance must be equipped with a Volt isolating switch which interrupts the phase(s) and the neutral (but not the earth connection). This isolating switch must have a contact gap of at least 3 millimetres. If the appliance is provided with a plug for use in a wall socket, the wall socket must be within reach at all times. NEVER interrupt the power supply to the appliance and the ventilator at the same time with other switches. This could lead to overheating of the appliance. 4.3 External ventilator control The appliance is fitted with two terminals (11 & 12) to connect the external control for the ventilator. There will be a potential of 2Vac between the terminals when the ventilator needs to rotate for the discharge of the heat from the exchanger down the air duct. The load on the terminal must not be more than 2 A. Should the ventilator not rotate due to external reasons, the heat exchanger will run the risk of becoming too hot and the whole unit will overheat. The appliance will cut out thermally and must be reset manually. 4.4 Additional thermal inlet fuse The terminal bar of the appliance has 2 contacts (TK) which are connected to each other by a bridge as standard. This bridge conducts a small current of 2Vac. If this current is interrupted the appliance will indicate a thermal defect. Heater control Lock out error: display A6 These contacts could for instance be used to transmit a thermal fault in the motor. 6 4.5 Electrical connection The appliance has the same options as for the control of the standard TR unit. 4.6 Emergency stop Interruption of the supply current is the best method when the external control has to switch off the appliance. Isolation by way of the thermostat can cause delays in some circumstances. The appliance always has a minimum operational on-time of 4 minutes. Interruption by way of the TK (Thermo Kontact) terminals will also switch the appliance off but will always lead to the appliance being locked. Heater control Lock out error: display A6.
