2 Introduction Meridien Apparels Ltd. is located at Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka only 7 kilometers from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. There are 650 employees engaged in the process of cutting, sewing, checking, finishing, quality control & stores to create the unique quality. There are 08 sewing lines in this unit and produces Pcs of 5 pocket jeans pants 8000 of Chino pant Pcs or 5,600 pcs of cargo jeans pants per day & average production capacity 8000 Pcs production area sft.

12 Product Category Woven Bottom Man s,women s. Boy s and Girls (5 Pocket Jeans,Chino pants & Cargo Pants with Jacket also) Design and Development We are having own design & Pattern department with Winda & CAD system for Pattern design, grading, editing & marker making where we can develop 40 styles in a day. Also we have in-house sample department equipped with 20 sewing machines where we can produce minimum 30 pcs 5 pocket jeans per day. We also have sample unit for washing with 4 units of sample washers and one dryer, where we can wash & dry approx 150 pcs of garments. We also have a in-house laboratory where we can conduct the normal tests of the fabric like shrinkage, color fastness to dry and wet crocking, color change after home laundry etc.

14 Introduction Meridien Washing Plant (Pvt.) Ltd. made its first appearance as a garment s washing and dyeing industry in Since its inception, the company has been working sincerely and steadily and today it becomes one of the largest quality washing and dyeing plant in Bangladesh, well equipped with special machineries. The washing plant is equipped to produce high quality stone, enzyme & dying of jeans & casual wear. It is located at Ashulia, the same complex of Meridien Apparels Ltd. Computer operated machines produce consistent quality by the support of modern equipments to control water PH, steam pressure and temperature. The wastewater is pre cleaned & processes before it is discharged to the closed drainage system. The factory have 66 sets machines of TURKEY & CHINA BRANDS like Tolon, CAGRI, ASIAN STAR, BANGLA, TEMPEST, ELGI, etc. with a wet process capacity of 30,000 PCs per day. The washing plant also has a dry process capacity of 20,000 pcs per day where we can do hand brushing, whiskering, grinding, tacking, pp spraying, on the jeans. Total man power is 550 And total area is 31,288 sft.

25 Safety Policy Fire Fighting: The factories are fully compliant of fire safety standard and have trained in-house fire fighting Team. In case of fire, smoke detectors, fire alarm and emergency light will activate in every floor. Fire Fighting Tools & Accessories: To combat fire, fire-fighting procedure, emergency evacuation procedure, and evacuation maps are placed in every floor. Fire extinguishers, buckets,beaters,hooks and fire hydrant are clearly marked everyday.all firefighting equipment used are inspected on a monthly basis for damage,obstruction and audit tags are attached with each equipment. Fire Drill: At least one fire drill is conducted every week and documented in a fire Drill Register, which is counter signed by the local fire Department.All relevant information, is available in the Fire Drill Register including ratio of male to female workers and time taken for evacuation. Factory Environment: The factories provide a safe place of work and adhere to all local laws relating to health and safety.the factory floors are well ventilated and lighted. Clean toilets / washrooms; proper dining area and potable drinking water are provided to all the workers of the factory. Drinking Water Test Report is available for ready reference. Waste Management: All plastic, paper and fabric waste are recycled on routine basis to properly discharge the waste material.

26 Safety Policy Metal Contamination: The factories do not use any pins and staples in production.factory has sealed containers in all sections for metal disposal. An inventory of tools boxes in all sections. Sharp tools inventory control chart for all department is readily available.all trimmers, points, scissors are secured to the working table.no hazardous instruments are being used in the work place. Needle Policy: Records are maintained for the control of new, used and broken needles.record for Kimball tag guns are also available.all needles are removed from idling machines.sewing machines have needle guards and over lock machines have eye guards. Furthermore, a hand held metal detector and conveyor type scanning machines are used to scan every finished garment before cartooning. Needle detector calibration is done every two hours. Maintenance of Machinery & plant Fixtures: To safe guard workers from any accidents / job related injuries, plant equipment such as electric generator, machine guard, gas boiler, electrical fitting and etc. Are checked periodically, Emergency lights are tested weekly and records maintained.all boiler operators are trained by the local bureau and have certificates of training as well as Boiler Operator s License. Protective Gear & Signage: Band Knife machines are railed and machine operators are always wearing gloves for protection. No dangerous chemical or fire hazardous substance is kept in the Factory. Moreover, personal protective equipment such as gloves goggles, facemask, etc. are also provided to undertake any aspect of the work safety. All rotating or movable parts of sewing machines are pul eys have guards. Management has ensured such machinery / equipments are properly guarded & pictorial signage is posted.

27 Health Health Attendants: Factory has a full time Doctor and Nurse. A proper First Aid Team is being trained by Doctor. Qualification of the Doctor, Nurse & First Aid Team are readily available in the factory.furthermore,a registered physician provides health screening, age certification and counseling on hygiene to al the workers on a routine basis. First Aid: First Aid box is available in all departments and usage records are kept. Selected workers and line supervisors have been trained to the factory workers. Injuries and Accidents: In case of serious injuries / accidents, workers are taken to the hospitals. Any injury/ accident of the workers that take place in the factory are properly documented in a register with their name, section, date and cause of the injury / accident and preventive measures are taken and recorded as well. Others: Factory is not using thinner for stain removal; rather has a separate room where the workers are engaged in stain removal use Carbon Filter Masks for protection.
