2 antistatic and flame resistant An increasing number of industrial sectors with production activities or who simply stock or handle products use safety belts that are both antistatic and flame resistant on their conveyor systems. This type of belt has several advantages: If used in an area with no particular danger, a safety belt can act as a type of fire break between dangerous zones therefore increasing the overall safety of the plant for both the people and equipment. it can reduce the risk of an explosion resulting from the accumulation of electrical charges it can reduce the risk of a fire spreading, a risk that exists not only in the transport of combustible material such as paper, wood or coal, but also in the case of material transported in hazardous areas such as: a closed area in which there is a flame or a source of heat areas in which there is a danger of leaking gas, solvents or volatile substances an area adjacent to a hazardous area DEPREUX: a specialist in safety belts Our 50 years experience in making safety belts for some of the world's most exacting underground coal mines with stringent safety regulations, has enabled DEPREUX to become one of the world leaders in safety belts for use in all industries.

3 antistatic and flame resintant Safety requiriments for belts to be used above ground The following are the most commonly used safety standards for above ground applications: Safety level according to DIN norm DIN norm number Required propierties Norms which describe how the test is to be conducted General description of the test ISO/DIN/NF E electrodes. The resistance has to be lower than 300 Megohm. K electrodes. The Resistance has to be lower than300 Megohm. Flame resistance test with the outer ISO 340 DIN NF The belt is tested with its outer. Six samples are put in contact with a flame for 45 seconds. The fire has to die out within 15 seconds on each sample following the withdrawal of the flame. The total duration for the six samples together has to be less than 45 seconds. S electrodes. The resistance has to be lower than 300 Megohm. Flame resistance test done with and without the outer ISO 340 DIN NF The belt is tested with and without its outer. Six samples are put in contact with a flame for 45 seconds. The fire has to die out within 1 5 seconds on each sample following the withdrawal of the flame. The total duration for the six samples together has to be less than 45 seconds. DIN part 4 electrodes. The resistance has to be lower than 300 Megohm. Selfextinguishing DIN Flame resistance test in a miniature gallery. One end of a 1200 mm sample is set alight. When the fire dies down the length of the belt that was not burnt is measured. The remaining length for a "solidwoven" belt, for example, has to be greater than 600 mm. For a plied belt the length left intact has to be greater than 400 mm. Safety level "E": All DELTA and DYNA abrasion resistant belts are antistatic and therefore comply with the "E" safety level. Special cases: Safety belts for underground mines Safety belts for the food industry These belts have to comply with safety regulations in practise in the country in which they are to be used. Belts to be used n the food industry have to be compatible with food products, have to be white and in some cases to be antistatic and flame resistant. 4 antistatic and flame resintant DEPREUX manufactures two different types of safety belts: DELTAFLAM plied belts in compliance with the K, S or Vt safety norms in the following range: tensile strength: 250 N/mm to 2500 N/mm width for a standard belt: up to 1600 mm. DELTAFLAM plied belts and DYNA FLAM "solid woven" belts "solidwoven" belts with rubber in compliance with the K, S or Vt safety norms in the following range: tensile strength: 400 N/mm to 3150 N/mm width for a standard belt: up to 1600 mm. The DELTAFLAM belt is composed of: a carcass made of alternating textile and rubber layers. an upper and lower outer rubber cover. The upper cover protects the carcass from damage caused by the material being transported while the lower rubber cover protects it from abrasion by the supporting rollers. The belt is composed of: a carcass made of a thick "solidwoven" fabric impregnated with a paste. an upper and lower outer rubber cover.
