FIRE SUPPRESSION SOLUTIONS
MARITIME FIRE SUPPRESSION In the maritime world space is a luxury. That is why it is important getting maximum effect from your fire suppression with a space and power-efficient system. We provide solutions optimised for all kinds of vessels from tankers to yachts. All the fire safety you need from one supplier Integration of all the fire-safety equipment ensures that the correct response is made automatically; the integration of fire detection and suppression is a logical step. It can be difficult to get equipment made by two different suppliers to work together in a satisfactory way, and costs and installation time increase accordingly. That is why we offers the total safety solution for maritime applications. Autronica Fire and Security the natural choice for your fire suppression needs. Helideck Autronica drencher system Ro-Ro and special category spaces Autronica drencher system Galley Wet chemical CO2 galley duct Accommodation and service spaces FlexiFOG accommodation Bunkering station Autronica DCP system Machinery spaces FlexiFOG total flooding FlexiFOG local protection NOVEC gas Car deck Autronica drencher system 2 3
LOW-PRESSURE WATER MIST The future of water suppression Low-pressure water mist is the logical successor to sprinkler or high-pressure water mist systems. It requires a minimum of power and water, it offers ease of installation, and it benefits from the use of standard components. The feature of FlexiFOG water mist system is the advanced technology producing a mixture of small droplets in combination with mist, when activated. This ensures a quicker and more reliable suppression of fires in accommodation areas than any other system can offer. FlexiFOG water mist fire suppression system can protect accommodation, service areas and machinery spaces (total flooding and local protection) with one single pump package. FlexiFOG water mist systems are cost effective both when it comes to purchase and installation. Compared to traditional sprinkler systems, FlexiFOG offers significant advantages, for instance: v v Low water consumption v v Low piping weight, PN10 and PN16 v v Reduced risk of clogging The logical successor to sprinkler or high-pressure water mist systems v v Low power consumption v v Higher reliability Low profile flush mounting and colour adaptation to surroundings (for accommodation spaces only) FlexiFOG water mist systems are type approved by all major classification societies and hold wheel mark certificates, and can be supplied in compliance with Safe Return to Port requirements. Critical design parameters Weight and power consumption are always critical design parameters, and has been one of the key parameters when developing the nozzles. The design on a medium sized ferry with approximately 1500 nozzles, enables a weight reduction of approx. 2 tons and the required power output is reduced with approximately 30 kw. This means that the emergency generator can be smaller, reducing cost and fuel consumption. 4 5
DRENCHER SYSTEMS From car decks to helidecks Autronica drencher systems are reliable, simple and effective fire suppression systems offering significant advantages: Quick fire suppression Sea water can be used, even with water mist nozzles Prevent fires from spreading over a large area by means of water curtains Cool down protected equipment Simple and reliable operation High flexibility in design and installation Autronica drencher systems are used to protect different areas onboard, both inside and outside. For instance: Cargo tank decks onboard chemical/oil tankers LFL and seismic vessels Car-decks (open or closed) Helidecks, helicopter landing areas and garages Bow and stern loading areas. LNG and other fuel tanks Discharging devices Autronica can deliver a broad range of discharging devices to meet the requirements set by applicable regulations and to satisfy the needs of each specific vessel. In particular for car decks, we can offer a water mist nozzle approved with use of sea water: this is a unique product providing huge benefits to our customers: Highly reduced water consumption (around 1/3 compared to traditional water spray nozzles) Smaller drainage pumps No need for dedicated water pumps No need for fresh water tank Other discharging devices include: Jet/fog nozzles, manually and remotely operated monitors, water spray nozzles, branch-pipes, pop-up nozzles, hose reels, and foam/water guns. All foam discharging devices have been tested according to the relevant regulations and fulfill IMO requirements. Depending on the application, low expansion foam in different mixing concentration can be added to the water. All the foams concentrates are approved by all the major classifications societies and fulfill IMO requirements. 6 7
NOVEC GAS SUPPRESSION Critical facilities require fire protection systems which can detect and suppress fires quickly without harming equipment, the facility or the environment. Autronica Novec 1230 Engineered Fire Suppression System is designed to protect human life and high value assets from fire, meeting the marine industry s concerns for safety, performance and the environment. Compared to traditional gas suppression systems, it offers significant advantages: Protecting life, environment and property v v Very quick fire suppression v v Minimal storage space for the gas cylinders v v No damages to the protected equipment v v Zero ozone depletion potential and very low atmospheric lifetime (5 days) v v Great margin of safety for use in occupied spaces. v v Fastest possible clean-up after discharge (no residuals) v v Down-time kept at a minimum Easy and quick re-filling of gas cylinders. Autronica Novec 1230 systems are ideally suited to the protection of machinery spaces, cargo pump rooms, control and switchboard rooms in a wide range of vessel types. 8 9
GALLEY SYSTEMS 24-hour protection for cooking facilities onboard Equipped with deep fat fryers and a myriad of other high-temperature cooking appliances, no other environment demands proper fire protection more than today s modern cooking facilities onboard. Autronica can provide two different pre-engineered systems specifically designed for the challenging demands posed by these areas. Wet chemical system for the protection of deep fat fryers Autronica wet chemical system is an effective and reliable fire suppression system designed to extinguish fires in deep fat fryers quickly and effectively. The wet chemical agent does not damage surrounding work surfaces, is not toxic or harmful and is easy to wash away after discharge. Autronica wet chemical system holds type approval certificates from all the major classifications societies as well as wheel mark certificate. Photo: RCCL CO2 gas suppression system for the protection of galley ducts. Autronica CO2 system is specifically designed for the protection of one or more galley ducts. The system is simple to operate and is designed to quickly achieve the necessary CO2 concentration to extinguish a fire inside a galley duct.
DRY CHEMICAL POWDER SYSTEM For bunkering stations The new IGF Code (International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Lowflashpoint Fuels) adopted by MSC requires a permanently installed dry-chemical powder fire-extinguishing system in the bunkering station areas to cover all possible leak points. Autronica has developed its own dry chemical powder system to fulfill new IMO requirements and satisfy our customers needs. Autronica pre-engineered dry chemical powder system is simple to operate and its high effectiveness has been proven during specific fire tests where the flames were extinguished almost immediately. The system is non-toxic and harmless to people and the environment. The system holds DNV type-approval, ensuring compliance with IMO require ments
Thinking new thoughts is part of our job. That is how we create products that make you feel safe. More than fifty years ago, we invented the very first fire alarm as you know it today. Since then we have turned it upside down several times and still we continue to make new revolutions. Our goal has always been that people should be able to think less about what matters most; safety. We know that our products are amongst the best in the world, but we also know that the best products can always get better. We continue to develop and we are able to say with conviction, that we protect life, environment and property. Protecting life, environment and property
