3 Page 3 of 5 Industry News Government makes 130 million available for Fire and Rescue Services A funding boost of up to 130million for Fire and Rescue Authorities across the country has been announced by Fire Minister Parmjit Dhanda. Fire Authorities can bid for a share of the 130million pot of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) credits for long-term projects to provide new vehicles, modernise existing stations and build new fire stations with a community safety focus. To date over 400m has been invested in the Fire and Rescue Service through PFI. For more on this story, please click here IACSC issues updated guide for temperature-controlled buildings The International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC) has launched a second edition of its publication, Guidelines for the design, specification, construction, maintenance and fire management of insulated envelopes for temperature controlled environments. The guide outlines the interacting fire-related complexities that need to be addressed by design teams in order to design against fire risk. It also outlines the factors that building control bodies should consider before giving approval solely in respect of meeting the fire safety requirements of Building Regulations.
