The visitors included: Mr Ales Cernik, Director of Bilateral Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mrs Jana Adamcova, Director Economic Relations, Ministry of Industry and Trade (BERR equivalent), and additionally Peter Urbanek the Czech Commercial Counsellor from the Embassy of the Czech Republic from London. The visit was to explain how LPCB as a typical SME uses the services of UK Trade and Industry to help promote Red Book listed companies outside of the UK. Forthcoming Exhibitions Security Essen 7-10 October - Essen, Germany LPCB will be exhibiting again with VdS at this show which attracts 40,000 trade visitors from 79 countries. LPCB will be sharing the VdS stand and both organisations will be promoting our agreement whereby manufacturers can apply for joint approval from either certification body. 3 Page 3 of 5 Industry News Government makes 130 million available for Fire and Rescue Services A funding boost of up to 130million for Fire and Rescue Authorities across the country has been announced by Fire Minister Parmjit Dhanda. Fire Authorities can bid for a share of the 130million pot of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) credits for long-term projects to provide new vehicles, modernise existing stations and build new fire stations with a community safety focus. To date over 400m has been invested in the Fire and Rescue Service through PFI. For more on this story, please click here IACSC issues updated guide for temperature-controlled buildings The International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC) has launched a second edition of its publication, Guidelines for the design, specification, construction, maintenance and fire management of insulated envelopes for temperature controlled environments. The guide outlines the interacting fire-related complexities that need to be addressed by design teams in order to design against fire risk. It also outlines the factors that building control bodies should consider before giving approval solely in respect of meeting the fire safety requirements of Building Regulations. For more on this story, please click here Dozens killed in India train fire At least 32 people have been killed after a passenger train caught fire in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The fire, which started as the Gautami Express was passing through forest some 125 miles north of Hyderabad. For more on this story, please click here Evacuation after explosion scare More than 100 people were advised to leave their homes after a garage containing two acetylene canisters caught fire. Eighty-six properties were evacuated from Stenhousemuir's Lamond View in Scotland, cordons remained in place around the area while firefighters worked to keep the canisters cool. For more on this story, please click here Firefighter injured in warehouse blaze A firefighter suffered burns to his back and hands while attending a major blaze at a derelict factory in Bedfordshire. Previously the Bedfordshire fire service had urged the owner of the building to pull it down because, even with its good security, it posed a fire risk and a number of blazes had broken out in recent years.
