7 Plastic Electronics Leadership Group The PELG is a volunteer group representing the UK plastic electronics community to promote the development of a successful PE sector in the UK. Success will mean an active community of healthy, growing companies, increasing employment and revenue, based on a well matched set of application needs and technology solutions.

Surveying and aggregating data from UK operations of active companies as Producers of printed electronics Consumers of printed electronics Suppliers of equipment to the printed electronics industry Suppliers of services to the printed electronics industry Over 170 companies contacted within the study

9 The Definition PE refers to the production of active and passive electronic components and devices that make use of a wide variety of materials including organic semiconductors, low-temperature solution and vacuum-processable organic, inorganic and hybrid materials, biomaterials and bioactive materials, small-particle and nano-particle materials, etc. Production processes include roll-to-roll printing, evaporation, laser processing and other lowtemperature processes. PE technologies can be used in applications that need large areas and/or flexibility, such as devices on paper and plastic and may be integrated into conventional silicon based electronics applications.
