3 Elevators Men living on floor 2 are restricted from using the elevators, and students on the 3rd and 4th floors are to avoid using elevators for 30min before and after school (7:30am - 8:00pm, 12:00pm - 12:30pm). This is so that prompt elevator access is available to those living on the upper floors. If you notice that something is wrong with the elevators, please contact Security first and then Aramark through the work order form on your Student Portal. Mail The building address is 321 W Kiest Blvd. (Box #), Dallas, TX, Please be sure that you use your Mail Box number and not your room number. Outgoing mail can be placed in outgoing mail slots. Incoming mail, which is handled by the US Postal Service (5521 S Hampton Rd), is generally delivered by noon. If you find mail in your box that is not yours for more than a week, please bring it to the Men s Department office. Never throw away mail that is not yours! Large packages can be picked up in the Men s Department office during office hours. Room Inspections All GLT rooms will be inspected on Friday morning every week at 7:45am, unless otherwise notified. Students are not permitted to be present during inspections. Rooms are expected to be in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. This includes: -Books and desktops neatly in order. -Desk/drawers neat and pushed in. -Beds neatly made. -Floor swept and neat under beds. -Closets neat and in order. -Light bulbs in working order. -Floor swept and/or vacuumed. -No trash in room, hallway, or balcony. (Trash is to be emptied in to the dumpster only.) -Bathroom tub, sink, tile, and shower curtain must be scrubbed with an appropriate cleaner to remove all mildew and soap scum. -Toilets must be scrubbed inside and out, including the base. Laundry Laundry rooms are located on the 1 st, 4 th, 6 th and 8 th floors. They are open Mon-Sat: 8:00am - 10:00pm, and Sun: 1:00pm - 6:00pm. Starting laundry after 9:00pm will not permit enough time to finish drying clothes. Forgotten clothing will be disposed of after 24 hours. Please read and follow washing/drying instructions posted in the laundry rooms. If a machine malfunctions, notify Aramark through the work order form on your student portal. No haircuts are to be given in the laundry rooms. Repairs Work order forms must be filled out by the Student if they notice anything in need of repair. This form is located on your student portal (side menu). Please allow the Maintenance Department to fix all problems instead of doing it yourself. It is your responsibility to replace all lights in your room except for the fluorescent light above your desk and the balcony light. Use a work order form to request replacement of these lights. In the bathroom please use no more than a 60 watt bulb. All other lights can be up to 100 watts. For safety reasons we ask that no halogen bulbs be used in the rooms. Smoke and Fire Alarms A smoke alarm has been installed in each room. If the battery starts to run down, the detector will beep a signal to change the battery. When this happens please notify Aramark. Your battery will be replaced. Students fail room inspection if a smoke detector is found without a battery or is disengaged in any way. Emergency Evacuation In case of a fire call 911 and activate the fire alarm located on your floor. If you hear the fire alarm sound, please exit the building as quickly as possible. Do not use the elevators, use only
4 the stairs. Please leave your door open as you leave. An RA will close it as he clears the floor. Rooms 1-8 should use the stairwell by the elevators. Rooms 9-16 should use the stairwell farthest from the elevators. Tornados: In the event of a tornado, RA s will mobilize all men into the hallway away from the windows. In extreme cases, students may be instructed to move to the 1st floor. Dormitory Living Ø Please turn off all lights, music, and adjust the AC unit when you leave your room.
