9 Our aim is improving safety Is always good to improve fire detection and location accuracy There can be no error in the ventilation systems Sometimes the abundance of false alarms can lock the systems In case of fire and smoke the control center looses control, being unable to monitor the event or support rescue teams In an emergency it is vital to minimize rescue time

10 Safety can be defined in three words DETECTION of the fire, quick and precise OBSERVATION Automatic Incident Detection (AID), SUPPORT during self-rescue in the tunnel and rescue teams All in a single platform

11 Early and precise detection of fire(1) Early detection can be improved with a system that alerts within a second of situations like the ones prior to an incident, possibly developing into a fire: extreme temperatures in a dangerous substances transport, overheating of electric devices, excessive temperature gradient in a system, etc.

12 Early and precise detection of fire(2) Thermal alarms - THERMAL LEVEL 1: Green > 65ºC for 5 - THERMAL LEVEL 2: Yellow > 90ºC for 2 - THERMAL LEVEL 3: Red > 110ºC for 1

13 Early and precise detection of fire(3) Thanks to an early detection due to the thermal cameras, tunnel can be closed much faster, minimizing the number of vehicles and people involved.

Automatic Incident Detection(AID) (2) Thanks to the use of infrared vision it is possible to have visibility in extreme conditions: smoke, fog, darkness; identification of people, fires, vehicles Support for the conventional AID system What would we rather see in a dangerous situation? 9 seconds after an event with smoke Same image with thermal cameras

16 Support during self-rescue: 3D modelling Infrared vision allows for guidance to emergency personnel (Firemen, Civil protection, etc.) from Control Centre Locating people in zero visibility conditions allows to, through a graphic reference system, locate emergency personnel, point out the escape routes, identify possible victims trapped in a vehicle, detect a chain explosion risk, etc. Standard CCTV camera 8-10 seconds after an incident Same incident with 3D modelling asistence system

17 Detection Unit Thermal camera with stainless steel case (very adequate for extreme temperature conditions). Thermal insulation resistant protection 320ºC 37 min. IP 68 for the highest protection in aggressive environmental conditions It spins 360º in a vertical axis and ± 90º up and down, with a maximum speed of 100º/s.

18 Control Centre Software for alarm registry visualization, video recording, camera movement, temperature measurement and positioning for personnel guidance Installed in a physical server, with possibility of individual screen visualization or videowall projection

20 Tunnel equipment. Petralba installation (Spain) 9 IR units installed every 300m near the emergency exits. Maximum coverage for AID is 300m, with a maximum height of 6m.
