The BATTERY XL especially fulfills the storage requirements mentioned in GDV's the German Insurance Association's information leaflet on lithium-ion batteries, published by the German independent institution VdS, as well as the requirements of FM Global. The focus is placed on the two-fold protective function of the cabinet: On the one hand, the cabinet closes automatically, even if there is a fire inside the cabinet, and on the other hand, the doors can only be re-opened by a specialist. However, the following is also still applicable: Different substances may only be stored together, if their joint storage does not increase the respective risks. It provides users with clearly laid out, digital real-time information on temperatures inside the cabinet and the exhaust air monitor status. For instance, in case a battery malfunction causes a heat increase inside the cabinet, the Cabi2Net system can recognize the temperature irregularity by means of a temperature probe, send an alarm and thus enable a quick response. A web interface enables end-device-independent information access. For this reason, the BATTERY XL not only offers the tried and tested fire resistance of 90 minutes for flammable liquids, but also flexible storage space for batteries. We have a wide range of accessories to ensure that the safety storage cabinets can be adapted to any local requirements. Safely stored Pipe penetrations For the BATTERY XL, we can arrange for variable, reclosable penetrations for stainless steel pipes, cables or hoses up to Ø 28 mm to be incorporated in the cabinet roof or the side panel. Flush-mounted penetrations can also be supplied. Equipotential bonding As a standard, the BATTERY XL is equipped with equipotential bonding saddles on the cabinet roof for direct earthing connection in accordance with TRBS Locker The additionally available locker can be locked separately and is screwed directly into the safety storage cabinet. Exhaust air systems Exhaust air systems help prevent explosive areas in working spaces. An additional exhaust air monitoring unit will give off alarm signals in case of failures (optionally available with ventilator). The exhaust air socket (NW 75) on the cabinet roof facilitates connection to the exhaust air system. 13

Access with RFID card for intelligent protection against unauthorised access The BATTERY XL and COOL battery XL cabinets are perfectly suited for the Modular Protection System MPS, i.e. unlocking of the door with RFID user card with MPS

Depending on the surrounding equipment, personal taste or corporate requirements, you have a choice between different colours for your BATTERY XL or COOL battery XL cabinet. The complete carcass is light grey (RAL 7035) as a standard. The wing doors of the BATTERY XL are optionally available in bright green (PANTONE 389 C) or light grey (RAL 7035). The doors of the COOL battery XL are pure white (RAL 9010) as a standard. Apart from the colours depicted below, individual colour preferences can also be fulfilled. The BATTERY XL cabinets have a variety of additional features which help increase safety and work comfort. 17 Maximum fire protection Functionality and safety for professionals Diverse technical devices ensure sustained functionality and safety in case of fire. In this way, all safety-relevant components are not exposed to daily dynamic loading and are therefore free from attrition and mechanical wear. In an emergency, a thermocouple initiates the closing of the doors automatically. An additional thermocouple detects fires originating inside the cabinet. This automatically closes and locks the cabinet doors to prevent your employees from causing a backdraft. The fact that only fire brigade specialists can re-open the cabinet gives additional reassurance. Fire resistance of 90 minutes inside and outside: Fire-proof and explosion-proof safety storage cabinets Type 90 by DÜPERTHAL offer a reliable fire protection of 90 minutes. A special feature of the BATTERY XL is that the doors close automatically even if a fire originates in the interior of the cabinet, thus protecting employees and workplaces. 18 Safety and functionality The BATTERY XL safety storage cabinets have a variety of additional features which help increase safety and work comfort. 1 Focus on functionality 1 The innovation in preventive fire protection: self-closing and self-locking doors to prevent backdrafts. 2 2 In case of a fire inside or outside of the safety storage cabinet, separate thermocouples automatically initiate the closing of the doors. 3 As a standard, the doors of the safety storage cabinets are fitted with an integrated door arrest system, which allows to handle the batteries comfortably. 3 4 Cabi2Net can be used with a temperature probe as an early warning system to detect a temperature increase inside the cabinet in time. 5 Hazardous vapours are extracted from right above the bottom tray, but also from each cabinet level

19 Further features 6 A set-back base is the solution to ergonomic working and a good position at the cabinet. 7 In order to prevent ignition hazards, equipotential bonding saddles on the roof of the BATTERY XL are installed as a standard for the connection to the earthing in accordance with TRBS The adjustable bases have an extra large bearing surface for easy alignment and level adjustment from inside and outside of the cabinet. 22 COOL battery XL Type 90 For aircraft battery safety storage The COOL battery XL cabinet is designed to meet the stringent requirements of the Aviation Industry. Aircraft Ni-Cd batteries are required to be stored in a safe and controlled environment to ensure that the life and serviceable condition is maintained. Manufacturer s specifications, maintenance instructions and storage procedures specify that batteries are to be stored in a cool and dry environment, within specific temperature ranges. The batteries are required to be monitored in accordance with manufacturer s requirements to comply with their continued airworthiness status. Compliance with requirements: COOL battery XL cabinets meet the battery manufacturer s requirements and also European safety standards. With battery back-up (UPS) and digital temperature recording system, data is provided to support the maintenance documentation, substantiating the controlled storage. 22

23 For added value Additional days of serviceability: Leading battery manufactures' recommendations for inactive stand-by storage permits extended duration of up to 90 days, when the battery is stored in a controlled environment with a temperature of +5 C. This removes the requirement for a refresh charge and gives up to 66 additional days of serviceability. Using the sophisticated accessories, you may adjust your safety storage cabinet individually to your needs. 1 Focus on functionality: 1 In case of fire, a thermocouple automatically initiates the closing of the doors. The closure control system ensures that the refrigerators are also closed automatically. 2 2 The door has an ergonomic lock arrangement at working (handle) level and an integrated cylinder lock. 3 The cooling compartment has its own door for efficient and economical cooling. The temperature can be adjusted continuously from +1 C to +15 C. 3 4 For this purpose, the COOL standard XL comes with an exhaust air monitoring unit for emitting warning signals. 30 Optional extras for added safety Exhaust air systems and ventilators To guarantee maximum safety for your employees, connection to exhaust air systems is essential in the case of many chemicals. DÜPERTHAL offers a variety of solutions to stop harmful vapours escaping into the working area. All ventilators and components comply with Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) and thus meet the highest safety standards. Exhaust air systems Filter systems Exhaust air systems Filter systems The exhaust air monitor with ventilator is designed for straightforward ventilation and monitoring of safety storage cabinets. A sensor controls the fl ow of air and emits optical and acoustic alarms if the required value is not reached. The complete exhaust air monitoring unit is pre-assembled on delivery for mounting directly on the cabinet. Our fi lter systems are suitable for ventilating and monitoring safety storage cabinets stocked with solvents. They fi lter almost 100 % of any harmful hydrocarbons by means of molecular adsorption, thereby providing users with optimal protection. A sensor monitors the air stream and gives a visual and audible signal if the value drops below the required value. The complete exhaust air monitoring unit including the integrated ventilator is supplied pre-assembled and is placed directly onto the cabinet. The required value for the air stream fl ow rate is factory-preset and can be adjusted individually using the pressure difference socket.
