1 Access Management Plan Gunnislake CP School This access management plan is a document developed to assist the management of our school in relation to day to day accessibility issues for all. It will aid the operation and facilities management of school and provide a continuation of the strategic approach to providing accessible services. It will also be a useful tool to inform any future works being carried out. We aim to maintain a policy to treat individuals who interact with the school in a fully inclusive way and to arrange access wherever practicably possible. The legislative background to this access management plan, and the audit carried out to inform it, is the Equality Act 2010 which states: Protection from discrimination for people applies to people in a range of circumstances, covering the provision of goods, facilities and services, the exercise of public functions, premises, work, education, and associations. The key actions supporting this plan were prepared in February 2015 by the Deputy Headteacher, School SENCo and School Caretaker. Summary There is access to the school by public transport. In addition, there is access to a fully functional lift. All actions are dependent on funding implications. It is our intention to have this Access Management Plan reviewed by the Local Governing Board during the Spring Term 2018.

2 Routine checks and Procedures Alarms and Security: Regular checks are made of evacuation alarm. Staff are fully trained in response procedures. Surfaces: Cleaning does not render slip resistant surfaces slippery. Trip hazards are checked and reported in the incident book to the caretaker. Lighting: Windows, lamps and blinds are kept clean to maximise light. Damaged light fittings/bulbs are reported immediately to the caretaker for replacement. Means of escape: Exit routes are checked regularly for freedom from obstacles (including locked doors) Alarm systems, including those in WCs, are regularly checked New staff are trained in alarm response procedures Overall escape strategies are in place for visitors who may need assistance Personal emergency evacuation plans should be available for each member of staff needing assistance
