8 Glossary External alarm A condition of a Silentron burglar alarm system fitted with external detectors. When these external detectors are triggered, the control panel warns the user with voice messages while sirens report the alarm by repeatedly beeping or by playing pre-recorded voice messages at less than the loudest volume. False alarm An alarm that is triggered without any intrusion attempt taking place due to fault or failure of one or more devices (covered by warranty). Improper alarm An alarm triggered by device s faulty positioning, technical limitation and/or random accidental causes that are not due to the equipment s faulty operation (not covered by warranty). Power supply The supply of a specific amount of electric charge (Ampere) which may be either direct (DC) or alternating (AC). AC power is supplied at a specific frequency (EU=50Hertz) and at a specific voltage (Volt). When a power supply source delivers voltage, but not current (like a 0 liter tank that is mostly empty) the electric device will not operate or will operate poorly. This usually happens with batteries and their voltage must always be measuredwhen the load is connected since otherwise voltage reading will be misleading. This keypad can be wall mounted indoors or in a sheltered outdoor area that is convenient to carry out operations.
