3 The MineARC Rescue Dog MineARC s Rescue Dog Through-The-Earth (TTE) System provides critical emergency communication between surface and underground when all other systems have failed. Relying on minimal fixed infrastructure, the Rescue Dog is capable of communicating directly through the earth at distances of up to 1,500m (5000ft). A single surface controller can manage up to 16 individual sub-surface receivers, making the Rescue Dog a highly versatile and scalable communications solution for your emergency response plan (ERP). 3

4 Standard Configurations MineARC s Rescue Dog Communication System comprises a surface controller, connected to one or more sub-surface receivers deployed throughout the underground mine environment. Providing survivable two-way communication free of antennas, amplifiers or line of sight, a single surface controller can support up to 16 sub-surface receivers, each operating on its own unique channel. The Rescue Dog delivers TTE communication via bidirectional beacon text messaging between underground workers and surface rescue personnel. A proprietary communication protocol allows the user to select predefined text messages, with the option to have the protocol customised to meet the specific needs of a particular site, including multiple languages. The Rescue Dog has been proven and tested in multiple real-life mine environments. 6 Rescue Dogg Installation The Rescue Dog System is easy to install and quick to mobilise during an emergency. Alternatively, electrode rods can be pre-deployed or connected to preexisting ground installations for quicker activation. Installation consists of mounting electrode rods into the ground, and connecting them in a series via lightweight cable. These are then fitted to the surface controller and sub-surface receivers (see diagram below). 7 j Major Components Surface Controller The Rescue Dog Surface Controller is a self-contained communication device, featuring an easy to navigate touchscreen user interface. Capable of connecting with up to 16 sub-surface receivers, the surface controller maintains multi-channel communication, while continuously monitoring the emergency beacon channel for any new sub-surface unit connections. The surface controller s power management circuitry enables it to automatically switch between internal battery power and universal AC input. The control system is housed within a robust, portable storage case, featuring an audible alarm and visual identification alert (LED light) that flashes to indicate when a message has been received. Sub-Surface Receiver The sub-surface receiver is a self-contained unit, designed to communicate with the surface controller. Each sub-surface receiver operates on its own uniquely assigned frequency. When activated, it automatically sends an emergency beacon to the surface controller allowing easy identification of the location of underground personnel. Even if no further communication is sent from underground, the last known time and location of personnel is received by the surface. The sub-surface receiver features the same durable design as the surface controller, with easily identified audible and visual alerts to indicate incoming messages. The LED visual alert system is easy to see from a distance in a dark underground environment, negating the need to stay beside to the unit while awaiting communications.
