13 3. WIRING METHODS M-15U1 Prohibited Mandatory Do not use the blank terminals. 3-1 SIGNAL TRANSMISSION CABLE WIRING Use the exclusive cable for connection with the C Series elocity Transducer. Use a twisted pair shielded cable with the specified cross section for connection between the junction terminal and monitoring device. Select suitable cable for operating environments. The cable length between CA Series Acceleration Transducer and Monitor should not exceed 300 meters. Excessive length may limit the system s frequency response. Keep cabling away from power and control lines, to prevent noise interference. Cable should be securely fixed. Prevent the cable from bending sharply, twisting, kinking, knotting, and straining. The recommended minimum bend radius is 80mm. SHINKAWA recommends that the cable should be routed, through conduit to prevent physical damage and noise interference. -5-

Warning No Description Use a twisted pair shielded cable with AWG No. 16 to 20 gage ( mm 2 ) stranded conductors for wiring from the junction terminal. Keep wiring away from power and control lines to prevent noise interference. Transducer mounted directly on a conductive structure which is connected to supply source ground. Connecting part should be as short as possible. (Shield effect) Connect the shield wire to the common. Danger To prevent electrocution, only perform wiring work after turning off the Power Supply. -7-

16 4. FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONS M-15U1 4-1 INDICATION FUNCTION This function selects the value from the Measured Displacement, Alarm Setup and Sensor Set Gap oltage, etc., and shows the value on the LED display. It is also possible to select from different kinds of adjustment contents and indicate on the LED display by switch operation. 4-2 ALARM FUNCTION This function forces the ALERT Alarm, GER Alarm and OK (input abnormality) Alarm to contact-output and display on the LED display. Alarm Setup and Indication are performed individually on each channel. All channels of each contact-output simultaneously (OR) output. The limit value specified for GER alarm must be higher than that for ALERT alarm GER ALARM When the measured value exceeds the GER Alarm setup value, this function outputs the GER Alarm contact and the red STATUS lamp is lit. Regarding the GER Alarm setup, refer to Section 6 Screen Description and Key Operation Method ALERT ALARM When the measured value exceeds the ALERT Alarm setup value, this function outputs the ALERT Alarm contact and the red STATUS lamp flashes. Regarding the ALERT Alarm setup, refer to Section 6 Screen Description and Key Operation Method OK ALARM When the input signal level from the Transducer is abnormal, the OK Alarm contact outputs and the green STATUS lamp flashes. If the input signal level abnormality from the Transducer is detected, the OK Alarm, according to the OFF DELAY TIMER, operates for about 15 seconds, even after the input signal level is back to the normal level. Detectable Transducer Abnormal Input Type C Transducer Detectable Abnormality Condition Cables between the Transducer and Monitor short-circuit or disconnect While OK Alarm Output is in progress, GER/ALERT Alarm and Recorder Warning Output are disconnected. -8-

17 4. FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONS M-15U1 4-3 ALARM DELAY FUNCTION Avoid incorrect operation of GER Alarm and ALERT Alarm because of noise, etc. It is possible to provide a delay time for each channel. Regarding the Alarm Delay Time setup, refer to Section 6 Screen Description and Key Operation Method. Warning 4-4 UENCE FUNCTION Prevent alarm actuation that is caused by excessive vibration during machine startups and stops. Disconnect the GER/ALERT ALARM, or switch the alarm setup to another number magnified by the specified number, according to the. contact input (from the power supply input and alarm output terminal block) during the specified time. The. lamp is lit. This function may leave the machine unprotected. While the. magnification value is set to -, machine is unprotected as alarms are disabled. While the. magnification is set to a value between 2 to 5, and. function is in effect., alarm setpoints are multiplied by the set value. When alarm setpoints exceed 150% of the monitor range, alarm may not output. It is necessary to keep short circuit of the terminals for more than 0.5 seconds to operate these functions. 4-5 SUPPRESSION FUNCTION When the condition ibration value < Measured range Suppression setup value is met, this function disconnects the Measured ibration alue (M) Display and Recorder Output. Regarding the Suppression function setup, refer to Section 6 Screen Description and Key Operation Method. 4-6 POWER-ON TIMER MODE This function is performed for about 5 seconds after the power is turned on. While the function is in progress, 7-segment LED display flashes and all alarm functions are disconnected. Warning While the Power-On TIMER is in progress, measured value and recorder output are disconnected at the same time. 4-7 ALARM RELAY MODE On each alarm contact, it is possible to select from: Normally De-energized or Normally Energized. 18 4. FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONS M-15U1 4-8 ALARM RE METHOD If the input value is released from the alarm level, each alarm contact output and indication can be canceled automatically by using AUTO-RE. The alarm according to the key operations key + SHIFT key, or the alarm situation, can be held until it is short-circuited between the RES terminal and the terminal on the terminal block on rear panel, by using SELF-HOLD. Regarding the Alarm Reset Method, refer to Section 6 Screen Description and Key Operation Method. If input reaches the alarm level, the alarm cannot be reset. Warning It is necessary to keep short circuit of the terminals for more than 0.5 second to operate these functions. 4-9 MONITOR OUTPUT For signal analysis, this function outputs the input signal, via a buffer amplifier, to the BNC connector on the front. Warning The monitor output signal is not insulated from the input RECORDER OUTPUT The Analog signal that is proportional to the measured value is output from the terminal block on the rear panel of the Instrument Rack SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION This function detects Sensor disconnect, or a poor connection of a connector, which is caused by the Input System. When the abnormality is detected, the OK Alarm contact outputs and the OK indicator flashes LAMP TEST Press ECK for 5 seconds or more. The 7-segment digital indicator and other indication Lamp will brink for 3 seconds for check. Prohibited Do not operate this function while machine is running to avoid wrong operation. -10-
