1 SECTION 5A HEALTH & SAFETY & EMERGENCY PROCEDURES (PLEASE READ MANDATORY)

2 The use of personal protective equipment is mandatory where there is a foreseeable risk of a requirement to prevent injury. The following requirements will be mandatory at ALL venues. Mandatory Foot Protection It is now mandatory to wear SAFETY Footwear (Safety shoes with toe and puncture protection) to work in the halls and loading bays during build up and break down periods. Below are the samples for reference purpose only. Safety Sandals (UAE Nationals / Ladies) Normal Safety Shoes with Toe and Puncture protection Mandatory Head Protection (Hard Hat) It is mandatory to wear a hard-hat if you are working on or around any double decker stands, scaffolding, or any structure where there is a risk of falling objects or head injury Mandatory High Visibility Clothing (High Visibility Vest) It is now a mandatory requirement to wear high visibility jackets/vests (any colour) in the halls during build-up and breakdown, and at ALL TIMES in the loading bays or areas where there is movement of vehicles. Other PPE includes the following: Gloves to protect hands and forearms Dust masks to protect from breathing hazardous or irritable particles Eye protection Hearing protection Harness and safety belts This is not an exhaustive list of items and the duty to access that the correct type of PPE s applied to a work situation shall be that of the employer. The standard adopted for personal protective equipment is in accordance with British Standards and technical guidelines which apply in full at the venue. If you need to buy a high visibility vest, the venue has 1000 available to buy at AED 10 per vest. These can be purchased from the main contractor cabin at the back of Hall 8 and also at Sheikh Saeed Halls see below map.

4 2 رقم الطوارئ Emergency Number You will hear the following announcement broadcast over the public address system: We have inves gated the cause of the alarm and you are requested to leave the building. Use the stairways and marked exits only. Do not use the elevators, please walk and do not run. A er exi ng the building, move towards the fire assembly point and wait un l you have been no fied to return. Other possible reasons for evacua on: Ÿ Gas Leak Ÿ Suspect Package Ÿ Earth Tremor Ÿ Major Structural Collapse Ÿ Advice from Emergency Services Then the following announcement will be broadcasted over the public address system: It has become necessary to evacuate the building. Please make your way calmly under the direc on of the security to the nearest emergency exit. Please proceed to the assembly point and wait for further instruc ons. MEDICAL EMERGENCIES The Medical First Aid Room The Medical First Aid room is located on the ground floor next to hall 5, near the informa on point. In the event of a medical emergency, dial 4040 on an internal phone or If possible, give the following informa on: Ÿ The loca on Ÿ The nature of the problem Ÿ Is the pa ent conscious? Ÿ Is the person breathing? Ÿ Their approximate age Ÿ Do they have chest pains? Ÿ Are they bleeding? 5 1 3 Emergency Procedure and Evacua on Plan EVACUATION PLAN FIRE On Discovering a Fire: Ÿ Break the glass on the nearest manual call point (red in colour) which are located throughout the venue or contact the Facili es Management Control Room by dialing 4444 on an internal telephone or immediately. Ÿ If using a phone, please remember to try and give your exact posi on and any details of the fire. Use the infrastructure to help determine where you are, e.g. by the entrance to hall 8, to the back of hall 4 or near the fountains by the IBIS. Ÿ Only if you have been trained and it is a minor fire and it is safe to do so, tackle the fire with the nearest suitable fire ex nguisher. Always ensure there is a safe exit route before a emp ng to ex nguish any fire. Ÿ If the fire is large, immediately raise the alarm using the manual call point and call 997 (Dubai Civil Defense). Never a empt to put out a large fire. During this me, or if a break glass is ac vated, the following message will be announced: This is a DWTC Property Management Office announcement. We have a fire alarm condi on within the building. We are inves ga ng the cause of the fire. Please remain calm and listen for further instruc ons. If it is a false alarm, the following message will be announced: We have inves gated the cause of the fire and found it to be a false alarm. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your coopera on. EVACUATION If an evacua on is necessary, use the nearest available emergency exit and make your way to the nearest assembly point....contd
