4 Protecting the Arts & Artefacts Museum security is an art form in it s own right. It provides complete protection against criminals as well as accessibility, whilst simultaneously providing peace of mind and also bringing us closer to the inspiring artefacts. ASDC can provide complete security solutions for the arts and artefacts in various locations, providing different levels of security based on the client s needs. ASDC design, supply and install a wide range of security systems, from vibration and environmental sensors to HD CCTV cameras with video analytics. Remote connection to the CCTV cameras installed allows for complete security as the cameras can be monitored after staff are no longer present.

6 HD CCTV Cameras ASDC s technical team have tried and tested many manufacturers, resulting in only the highest quality of cameras being selected. Depending on the requirement for the camera, these are some of the capabilities that the cameras can deliver: Static/PTZ Internal/External Night Time Capability IR Capability Focal Length Thermal Cost IP66 - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water. Each manufacturer chosen by ASDC has different strengths in different areas, but will be chosen accordingly to fit the specific needs of each client. All cameras we install are High Definition (HD) and are compatible with our chosen VMS recorder.

7 HD CCTV VMS Recorder ASDC HD CCTV VMS recorder is an open architecture Video Management System (VMS). The software accepts MJPEG AND H.264 as well as HD and megapixel video streams from Network (IP) cameras, encoders and video capture boards. The client-server architecture enables you to build a hybrid, scalable solution from a single server to multiple servers, handling thousands of cameras. The VMS also accommodates for remote connection to the security system from anywhere in the world, through any smart phone. 8 Video Analytics Analytical software turns a CCTV camera into an intelligent, information gathering device. Systems equipped with this software will perform in an intelligent way, analysing the motion within view and reducing the false alarm rate, rather than alarming for general public movement. 9 This diagram represents what can be expected when using video analytics and how it can, when programmed to a set of specific parameters, analyse different situations and detect a range of different activities. In this example, the analytics have picked out and highlighted where it has detected a figure that is too close to the artefact. The video analytics can also be programmed to recognise many different things, depending on the client s individual needs.

10 Legacy Systems ASDC are commonly requested to integrate existing legacy CCTV systems within the various locations we cover. These sites usually contain analogue cameras with an analogue DVR. We evaluate the existing cameras and select those of reasonable quality; this is an added advantage to the client to reduce project costs. The existing cameras chosen can be recorded onto the new ASDC VMS Server. The existing cabling on-site is both tested and evaluated. If the cabling is of good condition ASDC can install media converters; converting the existing cabling to a network infrastructure. This can save additional ground works on-site and thus minimise disruption and any further cost to the client. This method of conversion allows up to ten HD cameras to be connected to a single analogue cable.

11 Covert cameras Covert cameras are a means of offering surveillance in an undetected or more discreet manner. These miniature cameras have been designed and developed to provide monitoring tools that are disguised in the form of commonplace, commercial and domestic objects in any location. Covert surveillance is an area of security that is exciting and ever-developing, with the introduction of cutting-edge technologies bringing dynamism and endless possibilities to meet any security demands. Covert cameras tend to be used where there is a requirement to achieve particular objectives. These tend to fall into the following 2 categories: Covert surveillance A requirement to monitor activities in a particular location, completely undetected. Discreet/unobtrusive surveillance Often there is a need for a surveillance system which is less conspicuous, not necessarily to hide that CCTV surveillance is happening, but for style and aesthetic conscious reasons.

12 Perimeter Protection Some of the properties ASDC protect are able to erect full 360 anti-climb fencing around their grounds. Other buildings are not able to be as secure due to planning permission and other restrictions. In these cases ASDC have to opt for different solutions which are tailor-made for each client s requirements and budgets. ASDC cater for the installation of solar powered beams on all entrance points through to installing cameras with analytical trigger lines at perimeter points. ASDC have also installed solutions such as fence anti-climb detection systems and buried sensor cable systems to protect buildings and property.

13 Vibration & Environmental Sensors Vibration A small and wireless vibration sensor placed behind a painting or artefact can detect the lightest touch. The sensor can detect if someone tries to access the painting through a wall. A tripped alarm signals directly to a control room. Environmental Environmental sensors for fire, temperature changes and other hazards can be used to compliment theft deterrent sensors. These devices are even more common for items on pedestals, but are also as effective and commonly used for paintings.

14 Magnetic Sensors This discreet but effective wireless method of detection has been specially designed for the protection of individual artworks in galleries. Utilising magnetic sensor technology, the unit achieves superior displacement sensitivity while minimising false alarms. With its miniature, low-profile design, it is easily concealed behind or below each artwork. Types of the protection that this sensor provides include: Canvas cutting Slight touching Repetitive touching Complete removal

15 Saturation Motion Detection Saturation motion detection is the most important technology used in any given exhibit space. Instead of focusing the motion detection solely on entrances and exits, it is much more practical to simply floor the room with motion detection out of hours. This creates very few dead spots for potential thieves, meaning they cannot avoid sensors easily, which will deter any potential opportunist thieves who feel that staying behind after hours will increase their success of theft. ASDC s solutions benefit from not having the choice of using either mixed infra-red and microwave motion detection, since infra-red can cause false alarms from heat, and microwave can sometimes be triggered or disabled by the works of art and artefacts themselves, such as metallic structures.

16 Tracking Real time artwork security protection gives an early warning to security staff, thus enabling them to prevent theft rather than merely record it after it has already happened. The tags are discreetly attached to works of art, which are in constant radio communication with the sensors located in the protected areas. The system audits a piece of artwork up to 6,000 times a day, displaying the up-to-date location of all tagged works. At the touch of a button, the system can locate an item within a building; negating the need for frequent and time consuming physical audits and inventories.

17 Access Control Controlling who is granted access to the museum or building is an essential safety and security measure to ensure that no trespassers can gain access, thus reducing the risk of theft and other crimes. Traditional locks are now outdated and inefficient, with access control systems now allowing you to take full control of the access permissions granted to individuals in specific areas, in an intelligent and reliable way. Designed with the aesthetic needs of the building as principal, the access control units are a stylish and low profile means of securing the premises, which will not detract from it s overall aesthetic appeal. The access control solutions need to ensure that the building is safe and secure; both during opening hours and when the museum is unoccupied. ASDC can help to achieve this with methods ranging from issuing proximity cards to full biometrics and hand scan readers. ASDC can design a bespoke access control system according to each client s needs.

18 Intruder Alarm All of our systems are designed to be easy to use, effective and reliable since they are manufactured to the highest British Quality Standards. We specialise in the professional design and installation of the latest intruder alarm systems from leading manufacturers. Offering an extensive range of products, you can choose from simple bell-only alarms to more sophisticated remote signalling systems. All are in accordance with NACOSS Gold installation for UK customers and equivalent standards for all other countries.

19 Fire Alarm Designed in accordance with the regulatory fire standards, our fire systems will protect your property, your staff and visitors. The fire alarm systems link with advanced smoke detectors and break-glass ports to enable immediate action. Accredited by the industry s leading fire inspectors BAFE, the fire alarm and detection systems are highly flexible for easy expansion and link with both the access control and intruder alarm systems that we supply and install. We also have accreditation for all countries that we installed within.

20 Support ASDC s support division is tailored to each client s requirements worldwide. We offer various levels of support based on the support needed from the client, from as simple as a telephone call, to being able to remotely connect to he client s products. The support system we have in place reduces the need for engineers to attend site, giving instant support. This also gives us the ability to diagnose problems so if an engineer is required on-site, he attends briefed and prepared to fix the fault. All of our support is run through a secure and encrypted connection, giving our clients peace of mind that their site is fully secure.
