5 History of windows What was the problem? Wood, glass, putty and linseed oil were good partners since hundreds of years The new synthetic paint made a closed plastic bag around the wooden frame

6 History of windows AND what else?!? 1.Damage of wood below the new synthetic paint because of very high humidity 2.Putty could no more get dry beyond the synthetic paint 3.A gap appears between putty and glass. Lot of water could enter the plastic bag => Exposed windows were destroyed after two or three years

7 History of windows Some people were taunting my grandfather (a small, local window producer): Why don t you use the new synthetic colours. Normally you are not so old fashioned. Granddad was laughing and said: You will see soon, why!
