2 IS BELGIUM DESIGN IS BELGIUM DESIGN IS BELGIUM DESIGN IS BELGIUM DESIGN IS BE For over twenty years, SaloneSatellite has been the platform to launch young talent in international design: a vital artery of the Salone internazionale del Mobile di Milano and a must for talent scouts, journalists and visionary industrialists. This year the booth by Belgium is Design welcomes five young designers, with the intention of bringing continuity and consistency to a program for the promotion and support of designers under 35, thanks in particular to Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode that has played a key role in the process of internationalising Belgian design for over ten years. The choice of Belgian designers by Cosmit involves an eclectic sample of talent who are having their first experience or who have already participated in previous editions. Decidedly unprecedented for the international public are the projects by Ana María Gómez, a young textile designer of Colombian origin, who, with her products manufactured in Belgium and Colombia, explores the relationship between textile, the body and space. Olivier Vitry is an architect working closely with Claisse Architectures, a studio based in Brussels that has been working in the architectural and interior design sector for more than twenty years. Guest at the international show for the first time, Vitry will present a collection of high-quality modular coffee tables made from marble, cork and wood. Vincent Long and William Fournié of Amorce studio are returning for the second year running and will be presenting a system of joints to assemble a variety of supports and a series of displays equipped with shelves at variable angles. Romy Di Donato will be returning to Milan with the results of a study made in 2018 focussing on hemp fibres. The rigorous working of fabrics in Wallonia allows the designer to create everyday objects and functional and natural furnishing accessories. One example is the acoustic panels to be presented at this event. This plier system allows you to connect two elements to one another. It enables users to design and build objects in line with their own requirements. The Pliers is somewhat of construction game that can be used to create chairs, tables, shelves and much more. The modular tablets are installed in two different positions and give to the user the opportunity to compose their exhibition unit. The wooden trays slip into a notch system hanging on the wall. ANA MARIA GOMEZ www.anamariagomez.me AMGS is a studio created by Colombian designer Ana María Gómez after finishing a Master in Textile Design at La Cambre, Brussels (2015).

The core of amgs is to experiment with the visual, tactile and spatial dimension of textiles.

It forms rhythmic combination of colours and uneven lines that can be reshaped to seat, sleep, read, cover up or lie down.

5 ANA MARIA GOMEZ AMGS is a studio created by Colombian designer Ana María Gómez after finishing a Master in Textile Design at La Cambre, Brussels (2015). She makes pieces that go from wearable items to eclectic functional furniture, often as result of collaborations. The core of amgs is to experiment with the visual, tactile and spatial dimension of textiles. It forms rhythmic combination of colours and uneven lines that can be reshaped to seat, sleep, read, cover up or lie down. It s made to adapt actively to your body and find any kind of comfort on the floor with a warming touch. They meet to exchange knowhow and share different perspectives on how craft and contemporary design may intersect. 6 OLIVIER VITRY FOR CLAISSE ARCHITECTURES Olivier Vitry is an architect and administrator at Claisse Architectures. In collaboration with his partners, he passionately develops architectural projects, with particular attention to the details that create or recreate unique spaces. These spaces become timeless thanks to their plain, elegant, simple and subtle design. Moreover, Olivier Vitry personally develops furniture based on that same approach, both in terms of the materials used and their assembly. The system is made up of two table tops and legs of different sizes, made of wood or marble, as well as marble, aluminium or cork connectors. The cut-outs in the legs and table tops, as well as the connectors shapes allow users to put together their personal table design without the need for glue or special tools. 7 ROMY DI DONATO For the past year, Romy Di Donato has immersed herself in the analysis of hemp. The result is Hempanel, the first collection of acoustic panels made of natural hemp. They perfectly integrate into their surroundings and encourage a focus on nature. Hemp fibres are very easy to grow - hemp grows quickly with little water and feeds the soil. Moreover, hemp has natural antibacterial properties, is anti-allergenic and repels 90% of UV rays. Hemp brings a wealth of economic and environmental opportunities, and has a promising future in a wide range of sectors and industries, from foods to textiles, plastics, stationery and even construction. 9 BELGIUM IS DESIGN promotes Belgian design on an international stage. In existence for more than 10 years, this platform is the initiative of several design promotion institutions, such as Flanders DC, MAD Brussels and Wallonia-Brussels Design Mode (WBDM). Belgian creativity in the design sector and promoting dynamic young businesses that will be the key figures of the future: that is the mission of Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode (WBDM), the public agency for the promotion of design and fashion which seeks to improve the international visibility of designers from Wallonia and Brussels. Since 2006, WBDM has given its support to these creative industries, mainly achieved through collective stands at international trade fairs, exhibitions, B2B events, and meetings with the press and other international opinion makers. Through these activities and close supervision, WBDM continues to witness the flourishing of business in this sector.
