2 DOOR CARE Timber is a natural product that responds to temperature and moisture variations. Proper treatment of wooden doors is essential in our harsh climate. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT DOOR DOOR CATEGORIES LIGHT DUTY Domestic use MEDIUM DUTY Domestic / Commercial / Industrial use HEAVY DUTY CLASS 1 EXTERIOR May be (directly) exposed to weather - once properly sealed CLASS 2 SEMI EXTERIOR Not to be exposed to sun or rain CLASS 4 DRY INTERIOR Dry controlled conditions FIRE DOOR TREATMENT: PRIOR TO HANGING treat thoroughly before hanging. Doors have six sides - the top and bottom are the most important, where moisture movement is highest. Treat with a suitable preservative undercoat, PVA, enamel, oil based sealant or varnish get advice if unsure. STORAGE: PRIOR TO HANGING Support the doors along the full length to avoid warping. GUARANTEES Manufacturers limit their guarantees to the value of the door. Some manufacture to SABS standards and some don t. Incorrect treatment before, during or after installation; incorrect choice of door; and physical damage after collection can render the guarantee null and void.* DOOR PANELS Door panels must be free to expand and contract in the door framework as moisture levels change throughout the year. When painting or varnishing, the panels should be able to move freely make sure they do not adhere to the framework of the door. TRIMMING on the top, bottom and on both vertical sides. At most 10mm maximum trim, limited to 5mm per side. Be careful to allow for lock installation. *Defective Door Claims: Any claim for defective doors is limited to the value of the door and subject to proof that correct procedures have been followed concerning storage, treatment and hanging.
