2 A new and forward-looking EU R&I policy agenda for Cultural Heritage Inspired by the Expert Group Report 'Getting Cultural Heritage to Work for Europe': Invest in cultural heritage's potential as a driver for sustainable development, economic growth, wellbeing and quality of life, rather than only in R&I on conservation and restoration Develop an EU reference framework and a robust EUwide evidence on the social, economic, cultural and ecological benefits of cultural heritage Open up new opportunities and markets for cultural heritage based products, services and creative activities.

3 Cultural heritage as a driver for sustainable growth (IA): Heritage-led urban regeneration (1/3) Large scale multi-stakeholder demonstration projects to design and implement novel heritage-led regeneration pathways and assess their impact for sustainable growth, new jobs and wellbeing; 'Role models' (min. 6) and 'Replicators' (min. 3) from different Member States or Associated States; Project size: up to 10 Mio EC contribution Call: Two-stage approach Call open: 10 Nov First-stage deadline: 8 March 2016

4 Cultural heritage as a driver for sustainable growth (IA): Heritage-led urban regeneration (2/3) Implementation modalities 'Role models as succesful existing showcases: Map, analyse, systematically document and disseminate successful regeneration paradigms; Advise, assist and mentor replicators in developing and implementing their regeneration project; If they so wish, continue their regeneration activities. International co-operation encouraged to enhance evidence base and replicability potential of regeneration paradigms on a global scale: 'Role models' from non-eu countries and regions (e.g. Latin America);

5 Cultural heritage as a driver for sustainable growth (IA): Heritage-led urban regeneration (3/3) Implementation modalities Replicators, as living labs, commit to develop and implement during the project a heritage-led regeneration project replicating successful regeneration 'blueprints' contextualised to their local conditions.

6 Elements not to be overlooked by proposals (1/2) Proposals should provide evidence about: innovative nature and scale of the approach, the participatory, multi-stakeholder and trans-disciplinary processes and the financing, business and governance models that form integral part of the design and implementation of the regeneration project, Long-term political and financial commitment, Mobilisation and leveraging of investments securing adequacy and sustainability of financing, Commitment by 'Role models' in 'mentoring' 'Replicators' (e.g. through staff exchanges) and transferring knowledge to cities beyond the project;

7 Elements no to be overlooked by proposals (2/2) Robust monitoring and documentation: at least 2 years within the project; longer term commitment will count favourably for the proposal evaluation; A well-defined baseline at the time of the proposal (or early stage of the project) for proper assessment of the impact of the intervention ; Effective documentation and dissemination of heritage-led regeneration paradigms and the social, economic, environmental and cultural impact of the intervention.

8 Cost Eligibility Standard rules of Annotated Model Grant Agreement; Depreciation for equipment/good and infrastructure/asset depends on the type and shall follow, as appropriate, international, national, institutional accounting principles and usual practises; Eligible costs estimation will account for the depreciation and the percentage of use of the "equipment" and "infrastructure" for the project; Size of mobilisation and leveraging of additional investments will provide a competitive advantage to proposal => Value for EU investments
