2 At the January 17, 2008 Village Green Café, about 108 participants took part in a Visual Preference Survey TM which asked participants to look at 52 images and explain what aspects they did and did not like about each image. Participants were given a copy of the Visual Preference Survey TM when they signed in at the café. During the café, a PowerPoint discussion session lead by JJR staff gave participants roughly two minutes per image to shout out what they liked and disliked. Answers from this session were recorded and collaborated by JJR. In addition, participants were told they could write down their answers in their preference survey packet. In the packets, participants were encouraged to not only write comments but to draw or write on the images as well. Example: I love the outdoor seating on the second level! I don t like the metal roof, signage, or the back in parallel parking. While participants did not have to turn in the packets immediately following the café, they were asked to submit them before January 31, Twenty-nine Visual Preference Survey TM packets were turned in to Village Hall. Results from the packets and discussion session were left unedited. Similar responses were tabulated and with the quantity listed next to the comment. TM Visual Preference Survey is a trademark of A. Like plan C relocation of Springbrook Road. Good! Village Green is kind of sheltered and protected by a bugger of commerce to the south-southwest and northwest-west. Good! Plan C has pushed out the residential to the edge which is good. Residential is too dense. Should be more gradual transition between existing 1 acre per single family homes and proposed 16-30/acre multi-family homes on south part of parcel. Should look at Park East in Milwaukee for housing with open space in center of the units for unit owners units front streets with porches. More pocket parks shall be incorporated into the development. Refined plan should show location of sidewalks, location of buildings, location of parking lots, and location of handicapped areas. People have no concept of how many homes you are thinking about in these plans. The numbers have no basis for most people. I would like to see some mixed-use zoning for the commercial areas to incorporate apartments above storefronts. I also hope parking for commercial areas can either be accommodated along main streets or hidden in back in order to encourage a pedestrian-friendly Village. Has there been any thought to designing this development to be LEED rated or some other type of quantifiable green standard of building and developing? Underground parking should be considered OR 1/2 underground parking. Benefit is shoppers miss weather element and building height is lower. Same for multi-housing: park under building where residents can directly elevator/stairs up to their unit (same for townhouses, combination of townhouses and condos). Professional/office buildings/retail must have below ground parking to limit height and allow employee parking.
