1 FRANCE RENOVATION OF THE VERGER HOUSE PARTNER In the frame of a sustainable development program, the city of Gradignan is organizing this work camp to associate locals and youth from the city with international volunteers on useful projects for the community. Gradignan is an important city with several green areas (20 parks in total) which has a strong will to develop a sustainable policy that everyone can be part of. With our partnership they are really interested in experiencing local participation to an international project. Several young locals will take part in the project. You will contribute to renovate the house of "Verger-Refuge"located in the middle of the city. That wooden house has suffered from floods and therefore needs to be repaired in order to welcome children in a natural and safe environment once again. To be more specific, you are going to have to restore the main hall by repainting the walls and preparing the floor for its new coating. Depending on your progress, you may have to do some various enhancement works around. This place is quite crowded and hosts a lot of events; there is no doubt you will benefit from Gradignan s people support in your endeavour. ACCOMODATION AND FOOD You will be staying on the "Clos du Vivier" leisure center. You will sleep under tents for 2 that will be provided. Please bring your sleeping bag. There will also be a collective tent for cooking and diverse activities. You will share collective tasks and prepare meals as a group. You will also have to manage a budget provided by the group facilitators and participate in grocery shopping, giving priority to healthy and local foods. LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY Gradignan city is very close form Bordeaux that you will be able to visit easily along with the Garonne region. REQUIREMENTS Bring a warm sleeping bag, working clothes, gloves and shoes, warm and rain clothes and a flashlight.foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country. FEE: extra fee (teen camp)

2 FRANCE Construction of a mobile library PROJECT The Youth sector of the Val d Amboise District, The social center of Charles Pegut, and the Youth Information desk are three organizations working side by side with the youth from the city of Amboise. Around inclusion, animation of the district life, youth information, these social actors work together with Concordia to propose a common action in order to bring together young people with various origins and backgrounds. This first cooperation will allow international young people and local young people to meet and build strong links of friendship while constructing and creating activities together in a popular district. Indeed, a group of 10 young people of Amboise will regularly participate in workshops and leisure activities, with the 15 volunteers from Concordia. You will have the opportunity to celebrate the local festivities of July, especially the fireworks on the 14th of July. You will also discover the local heritage by visiting the Castle of Amboise and Leonard da Vinci s house of Clos Luce You will build a wooden mobile library. This library will be used by the district associations to organise workshops. ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD In collective tents on the camp-site, boys and girls separated; sanitary facilities in a building close to the sleeping place; cooking and eating under a big tent outside. If you have a tent, please bring it. The meals will be taken in a room in the mill with the volunteers of the organization. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers. Location and leisure: Located in the Indre-et-Loire County and Centre region. LOCATION At the heart of the Val de Loire, classified in the UNESCO world heritage in conformance with "cultural living landscape ", the city owes its reputation to the castle of Amboise, the vast residence of Charles VIII in the XVth century, which shelters the grave of Leonard da Vinci, royal apartments, gardens and subterranean corridors. On the outskirts of the town, the castle of Clos Luce is the former residence of Leonard da Vinci, where he lived until his death in It includes a small museum

3 exposing models of his creations. More information about the town: SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND REMARKS As the workcamp takes place in an urban area, for practical and eco-friendly reasons, you will have to use bikes for local transportation. You will need to be able to cycle by consequence. Please bring good shoes and working clothes. As the nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes. Don t forget to bring a sleeping-mat, a warm sleeping bag (and a tent if you own one). FEE: extra fee (teen camp) FRANCE BEAUTIFY NATURAL HERITAGE PROJECT Discover the Isère Valley richness thanks to this international volunteer project that will allow you to learn about the renovation of architectural heritage. The municipality of Tullins is located in the department of Isere, between Grenoble and Valence. Its local heritage includes remarkable monuments, some of which are classified as Historical Monuments. It also has a rare industrial heritage that bear witness to what was once a prosperous economic area during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. For this first project organized with the municipality in partnership with Concordia, you will participate in the renovation of the old tower of a feudal castle, a vestige that remains from the ancient fortified city. With the support of a technical coordinator from Concordia, you will first have to clean the tower from the inside, remove all the rubbles and take them off the enclosure. Then you will start the renovation of a wall outside the tower which needs to be consolidated and preserved from the environment. In order to do that you ll have to carry out some small masonry work. Depending on the progress of the work, you may be involved in a complementary project around a pedagogic pond of the municipality. You will proceed to the clearing and removing of invasive plants surrounding the pond. You also may have to do some development work to facilitate the access to the pond. Accommodation and food: You will be lodged in tents near the communal stadium. Bring a warm sleeping bag. The kitchen, toilets, showers and group living space are indoors within the municipal infrastructure, which will also provide shelter in case of bad

4 weather. You will participate in the preparation of meals using products that will be purchased on site. We will promote local products as well as short circuits. Tastings of local specialties may be organized by local producers. LOCATION AND LEISURE The town of Tullins is located in the department of Isere, about thirty kilometers from Grenoble. It is located partly in the region of Gresivaudan, at the border of the Chambaran Plateau. We can find great walnut grove in the area dedicated to the production of Grenoble s nuts which are very appreciated in France The town has many infrastructures allowing outdoor recreational activities. You can also discover the Lake Paladru, the city of Grenoble or go on numerous hikes among the mountains. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND REMARKS Remember to bring gloves as well as clothes and shoes that you don t mind getting dirty. Also remember to bring a warm duvet and appropriate clothing in case of rain (polar, raincoat...). Do not forget sun protection (hat, glasses, cream...) and your swimsuit. For hiking, closed shoes will be required. Friendly times will be programmed in connection with our animators and according to your desires! If you want to share a little of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects...), do not hesitate to take a small piece of your country in your backpack! Closest airport: Lyon or Paris FEE: extra fee (teen camp) ITALY - TEEN VILLA BONA PARTNER Giovani Insieme onlus is a voluntary association that since 1998 has organised groups of work camp volunteers for the protection of artistic, cultural and environmental heritage in Carignano. The work camps in Carignano were started to restore some rooms in a building in the historical centre of the town. Through this project volunteers have the opportunity to recover Carignano s architectural heritage and enjoy the environment whilst meeting young people from all over the world.

5 Volunteers will help the restoration of Villa Bona, a wonderful historical villa of the 18th century surrounded by a big park, situated in Carignano. The concrete tasks will include: restoration of wooden floors, painting of some rooms and cleaning of the decorated ceiling, cleaning stone staircase and restoration of decorated doors under the supervision of restorer. ACCOMODATION AND FOOD In a building with beds, communal bathrooms with showers and hot water and a kitchen. Bedrooms are provided with 4 to 6 beds per room. The volunteers are responsible for the cleaning and cooking. The organisation covers the cost of the meals and also the materials for the work. Volunteers must be equipped with a sleeping bag (or sheets), pillowcase and towels. LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY The town of Carignano (8700 inhabitants) is situated on the left bank of the river Po approximately 20 Km from Torino and within the Regional Parco Fluviale (park of the river). Its centre is of typical "piemontese" style, characterized by an ancient core with medieval archways and a baroque cathedral. The towns surroundings offer sites of architectural and naturalistic interest, it is also possible to reach Torino easily, as there are frequent coaches to the city. During the free time there are many exciting things to do such as visit the open market of Carignano and take part in some local events. On the weekends it will be possible for the group to organise a visit to Turin (there is a bus to and from Turin), visiting the Egyptian museum, the cinema museum, MAO museum of oriental art, the Holy Shroud etc. REQUIREMENTS Motivation letter is required. Extra-fee of 250 euro to be paid by bank transfer 1 month before the camp. Smoking and alcohol not permitted at the camp. If you are a smoking or alcohol consuming teenager DO NOT apply. The project has as primary objective: the education to the independence. It consists in stimulating and

6 motivating the young people, above all if carriers of uneasiness, to be an active part in the process of theoretical construction and practice of the activities. In this way they appreciate the responsibility of an assignment to acquit. The knowledge is assimilated in the best way when it is combined to artistic practical activity, ecological, handicraft. The responsibility towards the whole world becomes an obvious consequence. The idea is to connect experiences and different knowledge. In other words, the aim of this work camp is to make the House laboratory Cerquosino ( which has been restructured following bio building construction techniques focusing the attention on energy critical consumption)a place where different culture can gather and contribute to create a better place for the ones that will be hosted here in the future. The volunteers in collaboration with the members of Artemide association will be involved in creative recycling workshops (how to create new object from recycled materials, using both traditional way of assembly and new creative and experimental techniques with pallets, wood from the forest, plastic bottle, paper...). The volunteers will also be involved in different work of maintenance of the house. Working days from Monday to Friday, 5 hours a day. Add Value of this experience: Protect the natural environment from the touristic speculation of the area - Increase the value of a disadvantaged rural area that has been constantly abandoned from the local population in the last 20 years - To put in practice the ideology of Ecology - To invent new solutions related to traditional practice and creativity. ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Volunteers will be accommodated in a guest house which has 1 single room, 1 triple room, 1 dormitory with 8 bed and 1 dormitory with 6 bed. There is a common bathroom with 3 toilets and 3 showers. Washing machine is not available. No internet line available.the house laboratory Cerquosino has a big kitchen that the volunteer will use to prepare their own food, vegetarian or not, it s up to their own decision. Nearby there are no shops, the nearest one is in the little village of Morrano. The nearest supermarket is in Orvieto. LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY Leisure: during the free time, a trip to Orvieto, a walk in the natural park Elmo Melonta will be organised during the camp. Location: Location: the work camp will be held at the House laboratory Cerquosino that is located on the PegliaMountain, in the countryside 25 km away from the town of Orvieto in one of those disadvantaged and poorly productive areas that are nearly preserved intact until today. Cerquosino is situated inside the natural reserve of Elmo Melonta park, place of notable environmental interest. Inside flows the stream Melonta, where it is possible to take a bath. The inhabitants of the area are mainly farmers; the average age of the inhabitants is very

REQUIREMENTS What to bring: sleeping bag or single bed sheets, against mosquito lotion/cream/spray, sun protection cream, old dress for manual work, swimming suite, comfortable shoes as we are in mountain, electric torch, working glows, soaps and towel for personal use. Please remember that the house laboratory is very isolated, in the middle of a forest. Bring with you all the thing for personal use as the nearest shop is very far away with no public transportation to reach it. FEE: extra fee (teen camp)
