20 the success of lighting lighting in retail is used to transmit a message. lighting influences emotions. a well designed lighting installation contributes to a comfortable ambiance for the visitor, which results to a better result for the store owner. however, the (economic) success of a well designed lighting installation goes beyond just the increase of client purchases. using state of the art led technology, the energy consumption in retail can reduced with up to 90%, in comparison to conventional lighting installations. due to the high lumen per watt efficiency, less heat is generated, which on its turn does not have to be cooled down by air condititioning or climate controls. the product life cycle of led exceeds 10 times the life cycle of conventional lighting products, which minimizes replacement and maintenance costs.
