100+ We ve designed more than 100 miles of community bike trails across North America.

Sports & Wellness From community recreation to professional play, sport can transcend boundaries, unify nations, build community spirit, improve health and enrich lives. The facilities in which we play and practice should enhance this experience igniting passion, promoting opportunity, and building character. In sport, teamwork is essential. At Stantec, it s the same. We create teams of architects, engineers, and landscape architects who work together to deliver world-class facilities. Our specialists expertise cover every phase of athletic facility design, from exploring funding options and gathering constituent input, to project design and construction administration. We re focused on the full spectrum of sports and wellness planning and design for: large venue stadia and arenas; athletic fields and courts; ice skating ribbons; skateboarding parks, and community centers. We bring our A game to capture the energy and passion of sport. And we aim to elevate the experience for athletes and spectators so that athletics have an ideal stage from which to engage, excite, and inspire on a community, regional, and global scale.

Stadiums Stadiums breathe life into communities. They are the beating hearts of excitement, unity, and purpose. They are the places memories are made when people come together to play and experience sport. From high school football fields in America to cricket pitches in India, from the collegiate level to the professional leagues, from man-powered competitions to motor-powered races Stantec plans and designs all facets of stadium projects of all scales. We design the ways fans get to an event, whether it s the local team or the Superbowl. We design the architecture that surrounds the crowd, and the field of play athletes defend. We design the way-finding that helps ticketholders find their seats, the operations that keep stadium running, the options for revenue generation today and tomorrow, and the branding that turns a building into an icon. Our team has played with the NFL, CFL, MLB, MLS, CIS, and the NCAA to create transformative and innovative stadiums that draw on the passion of fans and the determination of athletes to create unforgettable experiences. 10 Fields We apply the most updated and innovative technology in athletic facility design and ensure efficient and cost effective construction methods for long-term facility use. Our staff has unparalleled expertise in designing and specifying athletic surfacing, including infilled, hybrid, and non-infilled synthetic turf products and traditional nylon surfaces, our team is well-schooled in the design and specification of competition running track surfaces, soil and sand-based natural grass fields, high quality sports lighting, large grandstand systems, and press box facilities. 12 Skateparks Action sports are all about freedom and passion expressed through movement, speed, and skill. Our action sport pros turned-designers feel that passion firsthand and work to infuse the thrill of being an athlete into all of their designs. Our designers create functional, site-integrated, and visually spectacular spaces that give a cohesive sense of place, become a source of community pride, and get your heart pumping. 14 Bike Facilities Whether it s BMX facilities, pump tracks, jumps, or trails, our bike park designs incorporate defined pedestrian and spectator space and use integrated landscaping elements to create unique experiences. From Olympic training centers to neighborhood parks, we ensure the whole community feels welcomed into the bike park whether they re participating or viewing in awe. 16 Aquatic Centers Modern aquatic centers require integrated and experienced design specialists that consider all aspects of a project and merge components into a functional, elegant, playful design. At Stantec, our teams don t apply the same routine to every community and competition pool. Our deep understanding of aquatic center design combines our innovative ideas and trendsetting vision with tailored plans for clients and their facilities of all sizes. Our geographic diversity means we ve seen the best, most exciting facility plans from across North America ideas that provide solutions to the many challenges our clients face. From neighborhood splash pads to competitive venues, our technical designs and creative problem solving is customized to the communities we serve. Stantec s research in the areas of leisure, therapeutic, and competitive water-based athletics and play leads the way to the next generation of aquatic design. 18 Ice Facilities Do you remember your first time on skates? What about your first hockey game or figure skating competition? We know how special these memories are and how important these events are to first-timers. That s why our team is fully committed to making the best of each ice facility we design. So how do we put our heart into ice facilities? By putting our brains to it first. We re establishing new design guidelines for modern ice venues, resulting in community-based plans that broaden the definition of ice-based recreation and its influence on individual and community wellness. We re looking to the future to bring tomorrow s improvements multi-use, connected environments that enable participants of all ages and abilities to play into today s blueprints. We re raising the bar, and we re putting that standard of excellence into our adaptive work designing all facets in and around ice facilities. Technically sound innovation with spectators, participants, officials, and the places you call home in mind that s our game winning goal. 20 Wellness Facilities Can a building s design affect a person s health? We believe the built environment can play a critical role in how one feels especially in a wellness facility. When we design these environments, we do so with the intent of nurturing health and well-being. Whether it s a community health center or a school gymnasium, we are passionate about designing solutions that connect with the community and encourages a healthy and active lifestyle for all. From the smallest detail to the grandest facility plan, we are committed to design that integrates wellness from the start. 22 Indoor Facilities & Field Houses Whether it s a field house or a seasonal air structure, these types of facilities put more people on the field allowing for field or court use day and night all year long, (instead of just six months in cold weather climates). Indoor facilities and fieldhouse structures are usually built quickly and are designed to be removable or permanent. We ve assisted athletic departments with installations at Ivy League schools, such as the stadium at Harvard University, and Penn Park at the University of Pennsylvania. With multi-purpose functionality more often than not, these structures are capable of staging numerous sports programming from volleyball and basketball, to running and aerobics classes. 24 Visioning Giving form to ideas, shape to concepts, and realization to dreams. Stantec s Visioning, Brands, and Experiences team creates tangible, experiential, and memorable places. Master planning, streetscaping and place-making, signage and graphic design, and incredible interiors come together with branding, marketing materials, and packaging to create transformative experiences that enhance real estate values and bring people back to a place again and again. $400M The amount invested to renovate Wrigley Field and the adjacent Triangle Parcel into a premier tourist destination for generations to come. Visioning for Wrigleyville, Chicago, Illinois

Events Planning & operations Our goal is to make it easier for you to get where you re going. Safely, efficiently, and on time. And when the fun is over and it s time to go home we make that easier, too. New Meadowlands Stadium Traffic & Parking Management Plan, New Rutherford, New Jersey

31 Stantec has been selected as the consultant to advise the NFL on a league-wide study of traffic, transit, pedestrian and parking operations at all 31 NFL facilities.

Innovative concepts Stantec s Design Visualization Services for an Ice Ribbon/Skatepark Design Concept

You dream it, we ll design it When our diverse group of experts comes together, we create concepts that have never been implemented before. Ideas like an outdoor ice ribbon for ice skating in the winter, that surrounds a skatepark for use in warmer weather. Throw in some athletic fields, a rock wall, splash pad, fire pit, and shaded structures, and you ve got an amazing recreation space for your community. Gathering places like this promote outdoor activity and the coming together of residents. Creating spaces like these support healthy, tight-knit neighborhoods. With the innovation and originality of our team, the only limit to a recreation concept is your imagination.

Expert lineup We re more than just a group of engineers, architects, and landscape architects. We re players, competitors, and fans who bring together our diverse backgrounds in sports to successfully take on challenges of any size and scope. We work in interdisciplinary teams, with our clients, to deliver world-class sports facilities for communities of all sizes and demographics.
