4 Pärnu linna eesmärgid linnaruumi arendamisel: Ligipääsetavus Hea linn on hästi ligipääsetav, nii väliste ühenduste kaudu kui ka mugavalt kasutatava keskkonna kaudu. Teenuste ja infrastruktuuri läbimõeldud planeerimise ja ligipääsetavuse printsiipide rakendades kujundame linna, kus on hästi kättesaadavad teenused ja lihtne liikuda ka lapsekäru või ratastooliga. Meie algatused: uute hoonete, rajatiste ja planeeringute puhul arvestame ligipääsetavuse printsiipi. Inimsõbralikkus Pärnu linnaruum soodustab inimestevahelist suhtlust ning on üles ehitatud liikumismugavust silmas pidades. Linnaruumi kujundatakse kasutaja vajadustest ja heaolust lähtuvalt. Meie algatused: kesklinna jalakäijate ruumi laiendamine. Pärnu s objectives in developing the city space: Accessibility A good city is readily accessible both via external connections and a convenient environment. By implementing the principles of thorough planning and accessibility of services and infrastructure we develop a city which is readily accessible and where it is easy to move round even with a pushcart or a wheelchair. Our initiatives: we consider the accessibility principle in the case of new buildings, facilities and territorial plans. Human-friendliness The city space of Pärnu fosters human interaction in every way and it has been designed to allow people to enjoy staying and moving in the city. The city space is designed in view of the needs and wellbeing of the users. Our initiatives: expanding the pedestrian area in the city centre. 6

5 Säästlikkus Pärnu on rohelise mõtteviisiga linn. Linnaruumi arendatakse olemasolevaid ressursse parimal viisil ning säästlikult kasutades. Meie algatused: kergliikluse ja ühistranspordi parendamine ja soodustamine. Tervise-edendus Pärnu on tervist toetav kuurortlinn. Heakorrastame haljas- ja puhkealasid, võimaldame tegeleda erinevate liikumisharrastustega ja soodustame tervislike liikumisviiside osatähtsuse kasvu igapäevaelus. Meie algatused: loome võimalused tegeleda liikumisharrastuste ja tervisespordiga rajame terviseradasid ning rajatisi. Sustainability Pärnu is a city which employs green thinking. The objective is to achieve a compact city space which is developed by using the existing resources in an optimal and sustainable manner. Our initiatives: improvement and facilitation of non-motorised traffic and public transport. Health promotion Pärnu is a resort which supports health. We create opportunities for various disciplines of physical exercise, develop green and recreational areas in the city and foster the increase of the share of healthy movement in daily life. Our initiatives: we create opportunities for physical exercise and recreational sports we build trails and facilities for recreational sports. 8 Pärnu linn on WHO Tervislike linnade liikumisest osa võtnud juba aastast Pärnu on roheline linn. Sellest räägib ka fakt, et kogu linnast on viiendik kaetud parkide, haljasalade, puiesteede ja teiste rohealadega. Already since 2003, the City of Pärnu has been a part of the WHO Healthy Cities network. Pärnu is a green city. This is supported by the fact that a fifth of the entire city is covered with parks, alleys and other green areas.

Elanikkonna haridustaseme tõustes ja eneseteostusvõimaluste suurenedes kasvab inimeste tööhõive ja palgatase. Mitmekülgsed edasiõppimisvõimalused tagavad noorte jäämise ja tuleku Pärnusse. Pärnus tegutsevad õppeasutused pakuvad õppimisvõimalusi igas eas inimestele. Haridusasutused ja nendega koostööd tegevad organisatsioonid on kujundanud Pärnu linna tuntud ja tunnustatud õppimis- ja enesetäienduskeskuseks. As the level of education of the population rises and the opportunities for self-actualization increase, the employment rate and salary level increase. A multitude of possibilities for continuing education ensures that young people stay and come to Pärnu. The educational establishments in Pärnu provide learning opportunities for individuals of all ages. Educational institutions and education-oriented organisations have turned Pärnu into a widely recognised learning and continuing education centre. Pärnumaa Kutsehariduskeskus on Eesti moodsaim Kutsehariduskeskus (president Toomas Hendrik Ilves). 7 Pärnu linna eesmärgid hariduse arendamisel: Prioriteetsete valdkondade eelisarendamine Piirkonna eripärast ja tööturu vajadustest lähtuvalt peame oluliseks tehnilisi erialasid (elektroonika ja infotehnoloogia), turismi ja puhkemajandust. Meie algatused: koostöös Tartu Ülikooli Pärnu Kolledži ning ettevõtjatega Läänemere teenuste disaini kompetentsuskeskuse väljaarendamine. Haridus on kättesaadav ja kvaliteetne. Pärnu haridusasutused töötavad ajakohastatud õppemeetodite ja õppekorraldusega ning pakuvad võimalusi õppimiseks ja enesetäiendamiseks igas eas inimestele. Õppetöö toimub ajakohastatud õppemeetodite ja -kavade järgi. Õppekavade elluviimiseks kasutatakse aktiivselt ka üldist linnaruumi ning partnerorganisatsioone ja -ettevõtteid. Suuremat lisandväärtust loovate ja eksportivate ettevõtete tekke ja arengu soodustamine. Meie algatused: toetame tehnoloogiainvesteeringute arendamist (innovaatiliste, funktsionaalsete ja keskkonnasõbralikke toodete väljatöötamise teotamine). Linna soodne asukoht Pärnu lahe kaldal, lõunasse avatud madalaveeline merelaht ja valge liivaga rand, värske õhk ning rohelised pargid koos kvaliteetsete ravi- ja lõõgastusteenustega tagavad Pärnu kuurordi populaarsuse. Pakkudes külastajatele kvaliteetset ja mitmekesist külastuselamust oleme puhkajale aastaringselt atraktiivne. Pärnu kuurorditraditsioon ulatub aastasse 1838, mil avas uksed Pärnu esimene supelasutus. Our initiatives: we conduct visitor satisfaction surveys and competitions for determining businesses with the best service quality. All year round Pärnu hosts visitors all year round. We contribute to the development of tourism and organisation of major events outside the summer season as well. Our initiatives: we foster the establishment of off-season events (e.g. Ice Festival)

Lõimime Pärnu linna külastuselamuse maakonna loodus- ja kultuuripärandiga tervikuks väärtusahelaks. Meie algatused: toetame Pärnumaa turismisihtkoha klastri tegevusi. Eristumine Pärnul on väärtuslik baas turismiteenuste ja puhkemajanduse edendamiseks keskaegne pärand, hansalinna ajalugu, korrastatud miljööpiirkondadega ajalooline kuurort. Kõige olulisem tegevussuund on elamusturismi arendamine (osalus-, kultuuri-, miljöö-, loodusja maitseelamuse pakkumine). Meie algatused: arendame Pärnu väärtusliku pärandi baasil turismitooteid ja atrak t- sioone ning loome erinevaid temaatilisi ja elamusi pakkuvaid jalutuskäigumarsruute. We integrate the Pärnu City visiting experience with the county s natural and cultural heritage to create a comprehensive value chain. Our initiatives: we support the activities of the tourism destination cluster in Pärnu County. Differentiation Pärnu has a valuable base for promoting tourism services and the leisure industry medieval heritage, history as a member city of the Hanseatic League, historical resort with developed areas of social value. Pärnu focuses on developing experience tourism (offering involvement, cultural, social, nature and taste experiences). Our initiatives: we develop tourism products and tourist attractions based on Pärnu s valuable heritage and create various thematic and exciting walking routes. 26
