3 Description 10 houshold program The Republic of the Seychelles has announced to become a carbon free country until (See attachemends: Speech of President Michel from 16th of December Copenhagen Conference, State of the Nation Address for the Year 2010) For this ambitious aim the Ministry of Finance has placed in July 2009 the order to the Netrawat Group Germany to develop under the terms of sustainability concepts for energy efficiency. This sustainibility concept has the name: Seychelles Zero-Carbon- Concept. The first step within this program is a demonstration of energy efficiency in private households. Therefore the Government has defined 10 representative households on Mahe Island to compete in this program. The name of the program: 10 household program The kick-off meeting of the 10 household program took place at Liberty House on Monday the 14th of December under the participation of: Ahmed Afif, Ministry of Finance Philip Morin, Energy commission Alexandre Cea, PUC, electric division Dr. Wiebke Müller-Lupp, Netrawat Dirk Lindenau, Netrawat Heinz Schelwat, Netrawat Stephan Lübbe, Netrawat + 10 families (see enclosed list on page 4) During the introduction of the program the speakers underlined the potential of energy efficiency and the need for the Republic of the Seychelles to become independent from the import of fuel oil. The demonstration of energy efficiency within the 10 household program is the first step to reach this ambitious aim. In order to prepare the visits the 10 families have been handed out the questionary worked out by the Netrawat Group. The visit of the 10 households confirmed the prediction of the Netrawat Group and shows possible savings of energy in private household from 15% up to 50%. The average of savings is appr. 25% of the energy consumption of kwh per year. 46% of the energy is used for refrigerators, warm water and air conditioning. The choosen actions in the program: installation of energy efficient refrigerators water saving shower heads and washing machines solar thermal warm water systems exchange of old bulbs to energy efficient bulbs rain water harvesting meet the requirements of the 0-carbon-project to become independent of the import of fuel oil. Upscaling the program to households can save up to ts of fuel oil per year and D.Li/ S.L /70 NETRAWAT Group Germany
4 The following households compete in the program: The families have been visited from Monday, 14th until Wednesday 16th of December 2009 in the sequence 10, 6, 2, 9, 1, 7, 5, 4, 8, 3 Family Delpeche stepped out of the program and was substituted by Family Gina Bristol in Anse Louis-Anse Boileau. Tel.: The installation of the equipment was done in the period from 25th of April until 03rd of June The activities within this program have been documented by a German Tellevision team during the stay from 25th of April u D.Li/ S.L /70 NETRAWAT Group Germany
