F A M I L Y STRATOS electric machines are used to manufacture bottles and other containers made out of PET plastic using preform reheating and blowing technology.

Heated preforms are transported to a blowing mould, when the mould is closed the bottles are blown in a two stage process: pre-blow (pressure 7BAR) and main blow (pressure 25-30BAR).

5 F A M I L Y STRATOS electric machines are used to manufacture bottles and other containers made out of PET plastic using preform reheating and blowing technology. Preforms are loaded into a hopper and transported into a blowing machine, where they are heated in an oven through several stages of plasticizing process by the use of infrared lamps IR. Heated preforms are transported to a blowing mould, when the mould is closed the bottles are blown in a two stage process: pre-blow (pressure 7BAR) and main blow (pressure 25-30BAR). Blown bottles are cooled and placed on a plate conveyor; there they are ready to be delivered to the next stage at the production line. Wide spectrum of bottle sizes 3 20 litres Stratos machines are designed for a wide spectrum of bottles sizes. Stratos 10 is a two cavity machine which can produce bottles from 3.0L to 10L. Stratos 20 is a one cavity machine suitable for containers 12.0L to 20L but it is equipped with format parts (for the neck rings) so it can be used for production of 3.0L to 20L containers. Flexibility, easy operation and mould change-over The shape and size of the bottle can be easily changed thanks to SMF easy mould change-over system. This system utilizes rollers and a mould trolley. Advanced PLC control with a user-friendly interface allows easy regulation of the system of stretching and heating preform. Stratos also has a CENTRAL LUBRICATION SYSTEM to minimize maintenance stopovers and ensure the highest standards. A central lubrication system controls the consumption of lubricants and makes sure all the crucial parts are properly lubricated. Cost-effective and efficient big bottle production STRATOS machines meet all the customers' requirements, the machines offer high quality production of PET bottles at the highest technological level. Closing unit movements, stretching rod as well as closing unit manipulator system are steered by servo drives which ensure fluent regulation, work and performance of mechanical operations. Information about production capacity, speed of the machine, detected errors, list of alarms and emergency stops is also easily accessible. Thanks to the internet connection The system can also make the diagnosis of active sensors in order to some minor software issues. Moreover, all Stratos machines have an installed UPS system which protects PLC and motion controllers of the machine. In situation of an emergency stop, UPS reduces the risk of damage. Solutions for comfort use and fully automatic production To take the full advantage of STRATOS machines SMF implemented a preform dumper which is designed to automate the production process. Thanks to this solution, preforms are placed into a preform hopper automatically. Handling is limited to changing pallets with octabin filled preforms. As an option the machine can also be equipped with a POWER WIZARD solution designed to ensure a stable temperature for preforms during the reheating process. This system allows to eliminate disruptions resulting from fluctuations of air temperature. The Pyrometric Temperature Controller PowerWizard precisely and automatically readjusts the amount of heat radiated towards preforms it is done by comparing the actual preform temperature and the set value (nominal). Closed loop temperature control not only guarantees stable quality but also protects the production process against the environmental disruptions. Stratos machines are equipped with an Air Recuperation System which ensures low air consumption. After each cycle high pressure air, instead of going to the atmosphere, is transferred to a special container (air recycling) where it is stored and then used again in other processes. Thanks to the recuperation the air demand is much lower. Another improvement is a Router-Internet module which allows easy and fast error diagnosis. It also makes the machine easily accessible by SMF software engineer so the customer may save time and cut the service costs.
