6 Operation of Resina Innersealers Friction Lid Placer Machinery The machines are designed for straight line operation. Containers enter the machine on a continuously moving table-top chain conveyor and move through a timing screw and in some instances the gripper chain comes with pockets which is synchronized with an overhead wheel having a plurality of lid buttons for transfering the friction seals or plugs into the openings in the container. Lids in bulk are placed into the hopper on top of the machine where they are oriented and fed in single file into a lid chute. The wheel with its lid buttons passes through the end of this chute and loads each button with one lid. Lids, usually tin plate, are held on the buttons via magnetism and remain in place until a container is met and the lid is pressed into the spout opening. (Special buttons are available for non-magnetic lids). Machines operate continuously, even though container flow may be sporadic and no lids are placed until a container is present to receive it. Speeds are from 60 to 200 containers per minute depending on lid and container size. Higher speeds can be achieved in many instances. All machines are equipped with vari-speed motor drive. A typical full changeover takes less than a half hour and involves a set of lid buttons, lid chute, hopper dial ring, timing screw, a height change of machine top and setting the guide rails to suit the container.
