Functional characteristics Induction working principal Component layout Frequency converter Theory of operation

Functional characteristics Induction working principal The working principle is based upon the generation of an electromagnetic field between the steel base of the pans* (placed above the ceramic surface) and the copper coils energized with alternate current (placed below the ceramic surface). The electromagnetic field instantly heats the base of the pan thus cooking the food placed inside it in a very effective way. Magnetic base of the pan Ceramic surface of the hob Copper coil plate * Induction hobs require magnetic pans, in steel, multi-layers or cast iron.

Functional characteristics Induction working principal Induction hobs offer outstanding performance, based on magnetic heater technology. An optimal output The energy is at maximum level since the energy transfer is direct and heat transmission minimised. 50% 60% 90% VC GAS IND cooking saves Time For instance, time for boiling 2 liters of water is by far shorter: 9 min 8 min 6 min VC GAS IND

Functional characteristics Induction working principal The surface is really easy to clean thanks to the fast cooling down of the glass Time for cooling down of the surface (after boiling 1 liter of water). 25 min 14 min 6 min VC GAS IND Saves Energy The energy consumed for boiling the 2 liters of water are the following ones. 275 w 395 w 230 w VC GAS IND

INDICATION: All the segments and decimal dots of the displays and all the LEDs present in the USIF will be switched ON for two seconds and then switched OFF. Subsequently the buzzer will beep once for 1 second. Present displays shows the USIF SW release (e.g. 2.1 ) over all the zones of the USIF for two second then USIF will wait for the user input. ACTION: Here the operator needs to verify that all the lights are ON and that the buzzer is beeping! During a timeout subsequently activated (it will last 60 sec) the test mode will be accessible by pressing a key sequence combination. If no key is pressed within this timeout, then the appliance will remain in STAND-BY mode. NOTE: if the ON/STAND-BY button is touched within this timeout then the appliance will start its usual behavior. Perform the following key sequence: touch the following key sequence with this order: (1) Switch off the Key-Lock (always activated when connecting to power supply) (2) ( ) Timer -> (3) (+) Timer -> (4) (-) Timer -> (5) (+) Timer Each touch must be recognized with a beep from the buzzer.

Test Program Configuration mode G8 To enter in this configuration menu it is necessary to press the Key-lock button when CO is shown on the displays. Once this configuration sub-menu (CO) is acceded, 70 different configurations codes are already stored in the E2PROM of the USIF. For choosing one of these configurations, press (+) and (-) buttons of timer as it is shown in the next figure.

Test Program Configuration mode G8 Use the relative (+) and (-) buttons to increase the units or the tens. Once the right configuration number is choosen, press KEY- LOCK button. Note: In Configuration mode (CO). In case it is not possible to configure the system, just because one of the boards refuses to accept the configuration. 74 Test Program Checking mode Check power on coil Once the button and display check is finished, the coil check will start immediately. To measure each coil s power, we use a power meter by setting these two levels: 9 (nominal power). Booster (if it s present). The power level will change from 9 to P by touching the + key for each zone. The display will show the related level. If the key is touched, the coil burner will switch off (level 0). If the + key is touched on another zone to check, this action will switch off the previous zone and will switch on at level 9 the current zone. While this measure process is being done the respective fan will be turned on at its maximum speed. A quick way to test all the coils is the following one: the operator touches + key on the first zone on the left and level 9 is reached, next touch of (+) key will move the level to booster P. Now, if the + key is touched on the next zone on the right to check, this pressing will switch OFF the previous zone and will switch ON at level 9 the current zone. Once all coils are verified, pressing the child/lock button the system will leave the checking mode and will display the next eligible functionality, the information mode (IF).
