Installation characteristics 7 Specific information for each model, provided in the relative user instruction book
Electrical installation Single phase connection! If a power cable is supplied with the appliance, it can be used only for connection to a single phase supply. Electrical system specifications: A.c. supply voltage and frequency 230/240V 1+N ~ 50Hz 230V 2 ~ 50Hz Voltages needed to guarantee troublefree operation of the appliance: Minimum voltage: 210 Volt 50 Hz Maximum voltage: 250 Volt 50 Hz Blue Neutral Brown Phase Green/Yellow Earth If the hob comes with a power cable already attached, connected the colour-coded wires to the a.c. supply as indicated alongside. Specific information for each model, provided in the relative user instruction book 8
Indesit Company Operating characteristics 9
Operating characteristic Cooking power vs Electrical Input 9 levels of power available Power Level Watts This table is included to facilitate checks on the correct operation of the appliance; it shows the Power used by the appliance for a given selection made by the user. ALWAYS select levels 6, 7, 8 or 9 (green background) for testing purposes. Lower values (in red) can give a spurious feedback due to the particular mechanism used by the electronics to control the induction elements at these levels. i = P / V i = 840 Watts / 230 Volts i = 3,652 amps The Booster function is not available on this appliance. 10
Operating characteristic Residual Heat Indicators MODE Main PCB: If, after the appliance has been in operation, the temperature of the induction element utilized remains above 60 C, the user-selected power level indicator will display the letter H. 11
Indesit Company Components 12
Components Main PCB: The Power Circuit Board used in this appliance is made by Jaeger. Accordingly, the operating characteristic is already familiar. Display PCB: The Display circuit board is a single component functioning as the HMI between the user and the Power circuit board. It also pilots the fan to cut in when the appliance is switched off and a temperature higher than 70 C is sensed at the Heat Sink. 13
Components Induction elements: These create the conditions in which food can be warmed/cooked. They are the active components of the hob. The induction element generates magnetic flux, which produces heat-generating Foucault currents in the pan placed on the hob. The elements consist of copper coils covered in insulating material. 14
Components Cooling fan: The function of the fan is to cool the Heat Sink of the Main PCB when the appliance is in operation. The fan unit is located at one end of the heat sink and managed either by the Main PCB software, when the hob is switched on, or by the Display PCB software when the hob is switched off and the heat sink temperature remains above 70 C. The fan operates off a 12 Volt supply, its running speed piloted by the temperature level sensed via the NTC thermistor on the heat sink. 15
Components Operation of Cooling Fan: The fan speed is selected automatically in response to the temperature sensed by the NTC thermistor at the heat sink: 1. At a temperature of 70 C, the fan starts up at 60% of full speed 2. If the temperature exceeds 75 C, the fan will run at full speed (100%) 3. If the appliance is set at power level 8 or 9, the fan starts up at full speed (100%) Note: If, when the appliance is switched off, the heat sink temperature sensed by the NTC thermistor exceeds 75 C, the electronics will calculate the time the fan needs to keep running, on the basis of how long the hob has been operating above this threshold. The maximum cool-down time is 24 minutes: 12 minutes at 60% + 12 minutes at 40%. 16
Components Sensors: NTC thermistor - Induction elements: Embedded physically in the induction element, this device serves to: 1. Indicate Residual Heat. 2. Monitor induction element temperature. If the temperature reaches 220 C, the main pcb will attenuate the power level of the hob; if the temperature rises to 240 C, the hob will remain powered up, but the power output for the specific induction element is reduced to 0 Watts. NTC thermistor - Heat sink: Located on the Main PCB, the function of this device is to read the temperature of the heat sink in order to prevent the risk of components overheating, as this could jeopardize the correct operation of the circuit board, and consequently of the appliance as a whole. The PCB will limit the output power in operation if the temperature exceeds 75 C, and reduce the power output of both induction elements to zero Watts if the temperature rises to 95 C. NTC thermistor - Display PCB: Located on the Visual circuit board, this device monitors the temperature of the Controls PCB, and will lock out the hob completely at 105 C. Note: In any event, when power is either locked out or limited due to high temperatures sensed by NTC thermistors, the hob will resume normal operation once the temperature falls to a safe level. 17
Components NTC thermistor - Induction elements NTC thermistor - Heat sink T Rt , , , , ,82 Temp. Ohm , , , , , , , , ,17 15 C , , , , , , , , ,29 20 C , , , , , ,00 25 C , , , , , , , ,62 30 C , , , ,03 35 C , , , , , ,22 40 C , , , ,28 18
Components Other Control Points: 1. Visual inspection of components on Main PCB. 2. IGBT: verify no short circuit or open circuit. 3. Transil diode: verify no short circuit or open circuit. 4. Fuse: verify integrity. 5. Check ohmic values of NTC thermistors (tolerance +/- 5 %). 19

Display Mode: Pressing the Controls Lock button immediately after connecting the appliance to the power supply, the User Interface will light up all display segments and Leds to allow a check on their correct operation. To bring the appliance out of display mode after the test, the plug must be removed from the power socket, and an interval of at least 10 seconds allowed to lapse. 23
Autotest PROGRAMMED COOKING ZONE REAR COOKING ZONE SELECTION Operating button MODE Display POWER INDICATOR CONTROLS LOCK Display PROGRAMMING TIMER CONTROLS LOCKED PROGRAMMING TIMER LESS POWER ON/OFF SELECTED COOKING ZONE FRONT COOKING ZONE SELECTION MORE POWER Autotest: Starting condition: Whenever an Autotest is run, the appliance must first be unplugged from the power supply for at least 10 seconds, then reconnected. If this procedure is not observed, the Autotest function will either indicate a problem that does not exist, or fail to indicate a problem that does exist. Start with the appliance off. To run the Autotest procedure, press the ON/OFF and hold for 10 seconds until a BEEP is heard, then, without releasing the ON/OFF button, press the Key button. 24
