1 Date: 11/17/2017 Subject: Thermostat Adaptor Sequence of Operation Models: TADPT2 TADPT2 Thermostat Adaptor Sequence of Operation Concept The TADPT2 Thermostat adaptor enables you to control Samsung HVAC equipment with a simple 24VAC thermostat. Standard thermostats do not communicate with indoor units (RS485) but use simple relays to turn unitary devices / Due to this, predetermined settings were programmed into TADPT2 to send different signals to Samsung indoor units based on inputs from the 24VAC thermostat. Example When a signal is received for first stage cooling (Y1), dipswitch 2 on bank 1 (fan speed) is set to, dipswitch 2 on bank 3 (set temperature) is set to, TADPT2 will send the following commands to the IDU: POWER = MODE = COOL FAN = AUTO SET TEMPERATURE = 68 F Dip Switch and Dial Settings Bank 1 Bank 2 Bank 3 SW IDU 1 address IDU 2 address TB
2 Before installing thermostat adapter Set indoor unit s address with rotary dials in thermostat adapter that will be controlled (maximum 2) 1) Check the indoor unit s address with SNET Pro2 (if more than one indoor unit is on the system) 2) Adjust the rotary dials and match the indoor unit s address that you want to control 3) Central Control use must be enabled on indoor units being controlled by the thermostat adaptor. Please refer to the indoor unit installation manual for settings. RSW1, RSW2 : Address setting for matching with the first indoor unit to control. RSW3, RSW4 : Address setting for matching with the second indoor unit to control. Notice: Both sets of rotary switches must be set the same if only one indoor unit is being controlled (Figure 3.1) Figure 3.1 : When controlling one indoor unit with Thermostat adaptor. Figure 3.2 : When controlling two indoor units simultaneously with one Thermostat adaptor. TB
