No ranches@chickeringco.com WEBSITE: FORESTHILL PRESERVE Foresthill, Placer County, California The Foresthill Preserve is more than a 1,046 acre sanctuary of native forests, lush riparian habitat along three miles of stream, and comfortable living, all just 20 minute drive from Interstate 80 in the Sierra Foothills near Auburn, California. A place where one can hike, bike, ride ATV s, go four wheeling and ride horses for miles. Maybe even train for the world famous Tevis Cup in your own canyon and trails. LOCATION The preserve is located about 22 miles from Interstate 80 at the Foresthill Exit, just east of the foothill community of Auburn. Sacramento, the State Capitol and its commercial airport is around an hour and a half drive away. Situated on the Foresthill Divide, the ridge that separates the North and Middle Forks of the American River, the upper reaches of the preserve are around 3,200 feet in elevation, allowing from some winter snow, mild summers, and great year-round climate.

North Shirttail Creek is controlled by Sugar Pine Reservoir and Big Reservoir, and then joins up with the main Shirttail Creek on the Preserve. Beautiful riparian habitat along the creek is wonderful place for that picnic and leisurely swim. The stream is also a very productive small rainbow trout fishery. There is serious interest from conservation groups to preserve this riparian habitat which may be an opportunity for a Conservation Easement. FORESTS: The Preserve enjoys a great variety of trees with the majority of canyon in live oak, California Bays, Maples, and finally Willows and Alders along the Creek. The balance of the Preserve has wonderful assortment of Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine, Incense Cedar, Madrone and stately Black Oaks. The owner has had a timber inventory completed in 2004 as there is a substantial value in harvestable timber on the Preserve.
