2 4 Seasons - 4 Elements - 4 Directions - The previous design was based on principles from Machu Picchu - Paring down the parti from Machu Picchu to essential allows greater design freedom and provides a clearer direction - The main objective for the proposed design is to simplify and increase its legibility - The 4 Seasons, Elements, Directions are principles common to several cultures across the world and throughout history - These principles will provide more opportunities to tie into Teller s curriculum - - East The are incorporated to observe the characteristics of sunlight, temperature, change in seasons, and time. - - South The are incorporated to explore principles of geology and ecology. Climbing and seating boulders reflect rock types. Sand boxes and gardens can be used to provide tactile experiences and temporal planting. - - orth The are used for weather and climate studies. Measurement devices can be set up to measure the wind and climate changes. Kinetic sculptures can reflect this element and show motion, change and sound. Shadows, Sundial, Temperature Elements, Solar Reflection Pillar Sand box, Habitat, Boulders/ Geology, Rock Sculpture Cloud Murals, Weather Elements, Kinetic Sculpture, Wind Chime Sculpture - - West Precipitation Elements, Channels, Bioswale, Sculptures Physical Mental Teller Goals Cultural The are used to show how fluids behave and how changes in temperature affect the physical properties of fluids. Collection and measurement of precipitation can be incorporated into art pieces. Bioswales deal act as an educational piece and reduce stormwater run-off.
