6 Anatec Pr Series Anatec Pr analgue addressable fire panels The Anatec Pr family cmprises a 1-2 lp base panel (Anatec Pr Explrer FADYXP prefix) and a 1, 2 r 4-lp high specificatin panel (Anatec Pr Discvery FADY prefix). Anatec Pr Explrer is cmpatible with Anatec FA95 prtcl devices and Anatec Discvery Pr with bth Anatec FA95 and Discvery devices. With Anatec Pr Discvery, devices frm bth Anatec FA95 and Discvery prtcls can be mixed n the same lp if necessary, enabling the maximum benefit f cst versus functinality. 9 Anatec Pr Series Netwrking capability With the additin f a netwrk card, the panels can be used as part f a glbal system with the facility t cntrl and mnitr a large netwrked site. Netwrk cause/effect may be prgrammed between Anatec Pr 1-2 lp panels, 1-4 lp panels and active repeater panels. The system perates as a glbal cmmunicatin system and des nt require a master panel r cmputer. This apprach reduces the cst and avids the prblem f a ttal netwrk failure assciated with master panel cnfiguratin. Up t 15 panels r 60 lps may be used t create a netwrk. Each panel can act independently and be prgrammed t respnd selectively t ther panels n the netwrk. The netwrk card uses RS485 data cmmunicatins, which will transmit up t 2km. The integrity f lp wiring is vital fr data transmissin, where a shrt circuit between lp wires wuld be very serius. Hence it is necessary t have islating circuits psitined in the lp in rder t islate any sectin cntaining a shrt circuit, until the fault is rectified. The islatr detailed here is plarity sensitive and will nrmally switch ut the negative arm f the lp, when a shrt circuit is sensed. Nrmally the islatr allws current flw in bth directins. If the lp vltage falls beneath a preset threshld the islatr will switch pen t islate the incming and utging lines. The device will test the islated sectin regularly and will recnnect when the fault is cleared. Air is drawn frm the pipe netwrk by an impeller t be sampled in a measuring chamber in the detectr. Siting a detectr belw a ceiling: The depth (d) f the sensr element, frm the ceiling surface, t be within the fllwing limits: Smke: 25mm< d <600mm Heat: 25mm< d <150mm R A 2. Flat and apex ceilings: A ceiling is cnsidered flat if the apex is less than 600mm (smke) r 150mm (heat). Apex ceilings increased spacing The distance between detectrs can be increased by 1% per degree f slpe (maximum 25%). 5. Minimum munting distance away frm bstructins: T be 500mm: Where partitins have a gap f <300mm f gap t the ceiling. Where crssbeams have a depth >10% f the ceiling height. 6. Stairwells and lift lbbies need a detectr within 1.5m f any pening. 7. Enclsed stairwells: Place a detectr at the tp f each stairway and the main landing area. 8. Place detectrs away frm light fittings by at least twice the width f the fitting. 9. Keep detectrs away frm ventilatin utlets/inlets by at least 1m. 10. 96 Reference and design Risk Assessment It is vital that risk assessments are cnducted fr the building as nted by the Fire Safety Order 2005/Fire (Sctland) Act A risk assessment shuld identify hazards, needs and actins fr crrectin. The key sectins t be checked are: If the building is new and cnfrming t the Building Regulatins. If the building is ld, and whether there are any increased risks due t any pssible lack f fire resistant cnstructins. Whether prperty needs t be prtected (categry P). Any high value buildings r high value cntents (categry P). Whether everyne in the building is awake and alert and any rms with energised equipment are ccupied (categry M). The number f peple, their mbility and where they are lcated (categry L). Whether there are disabled, infirm peple, r whether there is any nursing care. Whether there is any sleeping risk (categry L). The lcatin f any unccupied areas, r if at certain times the building is nly partially ccupied (e.g. risk t lne wrkers r risk t prperty). The number f flrs (including any basements). The escape rutes, including stairways. Any higher risk areas such as kitchens, lcker rms. Any industrial prcesses that may be a hazard. Any industrial prcesses that may cause an unwanted alarm. Any special risk areas, such as cmputer rms, r battery rms that may need a sprinkler r extinguishing system, t be interfaced with the fire alarm system. The need fr magnetic dr retainers. The need fr plant shutdwn, lift grunding etc. The need fr cnnectin t an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), particularly where prperty prtectin is identified as being required. The need fr a staged alarm (alert signals fllwing an alarm). The need fr a phased evacuatin (usually fr a large multi strey building) The persn ding the risk assessment shuld be very familiar with the layut and use f the building. It is unlikely that the fire detectin and alarm system designer r sales engineer wuld be sufficiently familiar with the building r its use t cmplete a full risk assessment, but advice and cnsultatin is usually available. It is therefre very imprtant that the designer cnsults with, and exchanges infrmatin with, the interested parties, rather than wrking in islatin. Having identified the abve hazards, factrs and needs, a decisin wuld then be made regarding the categry f the fire prtectin system. At this pint the fire detectin and alarm system designer wuld be asked t design the apprpriate system, taking int accunt the infrmatin in the risk assessment prcess abve. If the client r specifier is nt able t decide n the Categry, it may be left t the designer t prpse a Categry. Further, the cntract respnsibilities shuld be clearly agreed, s that any legal implicatins are defined. Please nte that Emerg-Lite Safety Systems des nt undertake risk assessments. Fire system design and integrity If a fault ccurs the design must take int accunt the rules f limitatin fr circuit integrity within the building.
