Maintenance tag in place e. System shows no physical damage or condition that might prevent its operation f. Pressure gauge is within its operable range (if provided) g. Nozzle blow-off caps are intact and not damaged (if provided) h. The protected equipment or hazard has not been replaced, relocated or modified 2. Any deficiency must be corrected immediately 3. Date of inspection and inspector initials shown on tag Semi-annual Inspection 1. VISUALS [per NFPA , 9-3.1] Inspect system per mfgr instructions, which must include all of the following: a. The protected equipment or hazard has not been replaced, relocated or modified b. Examine all detectors, expellant gas containers, agent containers, release devices, piping, hose assemblies, nozzles, signals and all axillary equip for physical damage or conditions that might prevent its operation c. Verify that agent distribution piping is not obstructed by disassembling piping, or purging with nitrogen or dry air, or discharge testing, or as recommended by the mfgr d. Examine the dry chemical for evidence of caking and replace if found; if the dry chemical is stored in a pressurized system, this examination can be deferred to every 6 yrs e. Replace or hydrostatically test all parts found to have corrosion, pitting, structural damage, or any repairs made by soldering, brazing or welding 2. TESTS [per NFPA , 9-3.1] Test system per mfgr instructions, which must include all of the following: a. Test the dry chem system including operation of the detection system, signals, release devices, manual station and other associate equipment (do not need to discharge the dry chemical) b. Fusible metal Alloy type fixed temp sensing elements must be replaced & destroyed [per NFPA , 9-3.2]; Year of mfgr and date of installation of the link must be shown on the inspection tag; Other type fixed temp sensing elements must be annually cleaned or replaced [per NFPA , 9-3.3] c. Any defective parts shall be replaced/repaired per mfgr recommendations d. Report must be filed with the owner e. Tag/label the system with the month & year of the test and signed/installed by the tester; only the current tag shall remain in place Hydrostatic Test 12 yr Hydrostatic Test: Trained person must test container, hose assembly, and the auxiliary pressure container [per NFPA , 9-5]
