3 TP Electric, Inc. Natural Gas and Oil From the beginning, TP Electric has been front and center in the Marcellus and Utica shale gas booms. From well pads, metering stations, gathering systems and compressor stations to natural gas processing plants, TP Electric has been there as a full service electrical contractor and automation partner. The companies involvement in the natural gas industry started quite fortuitously with a chance meeting in Our president was approached by a gentleman looking to have a couple of powerline poles set on a well pad. He stopped because he saw the TP Electric logo on the company truck. It turns out the gentleman worked for a company named Great Lakes Energy, which became Range Resources. That well pad was Renz 1, which was the first natural gas well drilled in the Marcellus Shale play. This chance meeting set in motion a series of opportunities and TP Electric became one of the first electrical contractors working in the early stages of the Marcellus Shale boom.
