AERIAL APPLICATION: Notify all inhabitants in the immediate vicinity of the area to be sprayed and issue the necessary warnings. Do not spray over allow drift to contaminate water adjacent areas. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect may be affected by facts such as abnmal soil, climatic and stage conditions; quality of dilution water; compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of weeds against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furtherme does not accept responsibility f damage to crops, vegetation, the environment harm to man animal f lack of perfmance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been feseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier registration holder in the event to any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS Avoid inhalation of spray mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. In case of contamination, flush immediately with water. Do not eat, drink smoke whilst mixing and applying befe washing hands and face and change of clothing. Prevent contamination of food, feed, drinking water and eating utensils. Avoid drift onto other crops, desirable vegetation other areas which are not being treated. The spray equipment must be thoughly cleaned to prevent contamination of subsequent applications. Water used f cleaning must not be allowed to contaminate untreated areas. Invert the empty container over the spray mixing tank and allow to drain f at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10% of that of the container. Add the rinsings of the contents to the spray tank befe destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Destroy the empty container by flattening and burning and never use f any other purpose. 3 RESISTANCE WARNING F resistance management, LAVA 800 WDG is an HRAC group code C2 herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to LAVA 800 WDG and other group code C2 herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by LAVA 800 WDG any other group code C2 herbicide. In der to delay herbicide resistance: Avoid the exclusive and repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes. Integrate chemical and other control methods into weed control programmes. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Mix the required quantity of LAVA 800 WDG and AMETRYN SC DIURON SC separately in approximately 5 liters of water. Half fill the spray tank with clean water, add the herbicide mixtures and then add the required amount of wetting agent. Where appropriate fill the tank to the required volume of water and keep the herbicides in the spray mixture in suspension by means of constant agitation. GENERAL INFORMATION Do not use LAVA 800 WDG in areas where trees other desirable plants can be effected where their roots are present as LAVA 800 WDG may leach into the root zone thereby causing severe injury death of these plants. LAVA 800 WDG can be applied as a pre- an early post-emergence herbicide to both plant and ratoon sugarcane. Do not apply LAVA 800 WDG to cane trash to soils of over 10 % ganic material content, n to soils of under 8 % clay content. Do not plant any crop other than sugarcane within two years of a LAVA 800 WDG application. GROUND APPLICATION LAVA 800 WDG may be applied by means of any well maintained medium high volume sprayer equipped with efficient agitation and which is capable of ensuring adequate coverage of the target area and even distribution. Flat fan-type spray nozzles should be fitted to ensure best results. Calibrate all spray equipment accurately befe application. LAVA 800 WDG should be applied in 200 to 300 liters water/ha. The spray mixture should be agitated continuously befe and during application. Do not allow the spray mixture to settle out in the spray tank. Pre-emergence: Apply LAVA 800 WDG plus AMETRYN SC DIURON SC to a soil surface, that is free of cane trash, clods and established weeds. Do not apply to soil that is excessively dry wet. Rain a moderate irrigation is required to leach LAVA 800 WDG into the top layer of soil where seeds germinate. Post-emergence: F the post-emergence application of LAVA 800 WDG plus AMETRYN SC DIURON SC, it is recommended that a suitable wetting agent should be added to the spray mixture (see table f details). Ensure that, broadleaf weeds and grasses have not developed beyond the four leaf stage at the time of treatment. LAVA 800 WDG/25/07/

4 AERIAL APPLICATION LAVA 800 WDG can be applied aerially provided that : Aerial application may only be done by a registered aerial application operat using a registered and crectly calibrated aircraft accding to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Remedies). It is imptant to ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefe essential that the following criteria be met; Equipment Use suitable atomising equipment (hydraulic nozzles rotary atomisers) that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage of the target area and will ensure the minimum loss of product through drift. The operat must use a nozzle set-up that will produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible relative span. All nozzles and atomisers should be positioned within the inner 75% of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vtices. Application Parameters Pre-emergence: A minimum volume of 30l spray mixture per ha is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy n be held responsible f any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended. A droplet coverage of 30 droplets per sq cm must be recovered at the target. A droplet spectrum with a VMD of 450 microns is recommended. Ensure that the production of fine droplets, with a VMD less than 150 microns, is restricted to a minimum. The height of the spray boom should be maintained at between 3 and 4m above the target. Do not spray when the aircraft is in a climb, at the top of a turn during a dive when banking. Apply befe the crop growth becomes too dense, which will interfere with overall plant coverage. Post-emergence: A minimum volume of 35 l spray mixture per ha is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy n be held responsible f any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended. 5 Meteological Conditions The difference between the wet and dry bulb readings as determined by a whirling hygrometer, must not exceed 8 ºC. Do not spray under turbulent, unstable conditions n during the heat of the day when rising thermals and downdraughts occur. Do not spray under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in above the inversion layer). Do not spray when the wind speed exceeds 15 km per hour. General Ensure that fields are accurately marked and that the aerial spray operat knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the aerial spray operat that the above requirements will be met. 6 IMPORTANT If LAVA 800 WDG is applied aerially and yellow nutsedge (between six and eight leaf stage) is present, the addition of AMETRYN SC at 4 l/ha instead of DIURON SC to the above LAVA 800 WDG application rates f aerial application, is recommended. The addition of AMETRYN SC will also improve the knockdown effect of LAVA 800 WDG on other weeds.
