Toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place in the original container, tightly closed and secured. Store away from food, feeds, seed, fertilizer and other agricultural remedies. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Re-entry: Do not enter treated area within 1 day after application, unless wearing protective clothing. In case of poisoning, take the patient to a medical doctor and make this label available to him/her. Aerial Application: Notify all inhabitants in the immediate vicinity of the area to be sprayed and issue necessary warnings. Do not spray over or allow drift to contaminate water or adjacent areas. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be effective under all conditions. The activity and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions, quality of dilution water, incompatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weed against the remedy, as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal, or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure by the user to follow the label instructions, or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS: Do not inhale fumes or spray mist. Avoid skin and eye contact by wearing protective clothing when mixing the product. Wash with soap and water after use and accidental skin contact. Wash contaminated clothing after use. Do not eat, drink or smoke while mixing or applying the product or before washing hands and face. Do not mix and load within at least 15 metre from boreholes, streams, rivers and dams. Do not apply within at least 15 metre from boreholes, streams and rivers. Do not apply within 60 metre of dams. 3 Clean application equipment thoroughly after use. Dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, grazing, rivers, dams and boreholes. Triple rinse empty containers in the following manner: Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow to drain for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter, rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add the rinsings to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the described manner. Destroy the empty container by perforation and flattening and dispose of it in a safe manner. Never re-use the empty container for any other purpose. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. SYMPTOMS OF HUMAN POISONING: The product may be a mild eye and skin irritant, which should disappear once contact ceases. Symptoms of acute exposure to high doses include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle weakness and salivation. FIRST AID TREATMENT: Inhaled: Immediately remove source of contamination or move person to fresh air. Avoid mouth to mouth resuscitation. Keep person warm and at rest. Treat symptomatically and supportively as and when required. Seek medical advice immediately. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing, shoes and leather goods immediately. Gently wipe of excess chemical. Wash skin gently and thoroughly with non-abrasive soap and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). If irritation persists, seek medical advice immediately. Eye contact: Immediately flush the contaminated eyes with gently flowing, lukewarm water, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). Severe contamination may require medical attention. Ingested: Have the person to rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Do not induce vomiting. In serious cases, seek medical advice immediately. Treat respiratory difficulty with artificial respiration and oxygen. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: No signs and symptoms of ametryn poisoning are known or expected in humans. An antidote is neither known nor needed. Treat symptomatically when required. When large amounts have been ingested, gastric lavage or the administration of activated charcoal may be considered. RESISTANCE WARNING: BASTION SC is a group code C1 herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to BASTION SC and other group code C1 herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by BASTION SC or any other group code C1 herbicide. To delay herbicide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes, Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programmes. For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product. BASTION SC/11/01/

4 USE RESTRICTIONS: To avoid damage to follow-up crops, the following waiting periods should be observed: a) Maize and Sugar cane nil, b) All other crops. 3 months (a test planting is recommended in all cases). Do not apply BASTION SC to any crop or situation not mentioned in this label. Only apply BASTION SC using an accurate and safe application technique. If BASTION SC is used in a tank mixture with other recommended herbicides, adhere to the instructions, warnings and restrictions of those respective products. DIRECTION F USE: USE ONLY AS DIRECTED. Compatibility: The compatibility of BASTION SC with other products depends on the formulations of the respective products as well as the quality of the spray water to be used. As formulations change from time to time it is recommended that a physical compatibility test be done prior to the tank mixture being made. BASTION SC is compatible with Acetochlor 900 (Reg.no.:L 7522), atrazine 500 SC (various), paraquat 200 SL (various), 2,4-D amine (various), MCPA (various), MSMA (various), metribuzin 480 SC (various), Trooper SL (Reg.no.: L 6806), hexazinone 240 SL (various) and hexazinone WDG (various). Mixing Instructions: Half fill the spray tank with suitable water, then add the required amount of BASTION SC to the water in the tank while agitating. Fill the spray tank to the desired volume with water. Agitate well to ensure thorough mixing prior to the application of the mixture. Should tank mixtures with other herbicides be made, follow the respective product label recommendations. When BASTION SC is tank mixed with Acetochlor 900, MCPA, MSMA, 2,4-D amine or paraquat 200 SL, first mix the BASTION SC as indicated above and agitate; followed by the Acetochlor 900 and if required, the MCPA, MSMA, 2,4-D amine or paraquat 200 SL. When hexazinone WDG or metribuzin 480 SC or atrazine 500 SC is used in tank mixture with BASTION SC, first add the hexazinone WDG or metribuzin 480 SC or atrazine 500 SC and finally the BASTION SC while filling the tank to its final volume with water. Ensure and maintain agitation while mixing and application of spray mixture. Tank mixtures must be sprayed out immediately and not allowed to stand in the spray tank overnight. Spraying equipment must be thoroughly flushed out at the end of the spraying operation. Application Methods: Ensure that the equipment is correctly calibrated and is checked regularly during application to ensure even and accurate application. Constant agitation throughout the spray operation is essential. Only clean water should be used. Rain is essential to leach the product into the root zone of the germinating weeds and therefore 10 to 15 mm of rain or irrigation is needed within 7 to 10 days of application to ensure optimum results. Where weeds have already established, a suitable post-emergence herbicide should be used as recommended below. BASTION SC/11/01/

5 Ground Application: Knapsack sprayers or tractor mounted boom sprayers may be used. A spray volume of 200 to 400 litres per hectare should be used for ground application and can be applied via flat fan-type nozzles, preferably the low drift type to avoid fine droplets. Prevent overdosing by avoiding overlapping of swaths and closing the nozzles while starting, slow movement, turning and stopping. Aerial Application: Aerial application of BASTION SC may only be done by a registered aerial application operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides). Ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefore essential that the following criteria be met: Volume: A spray mixture volume of 30 litres per hectare is recommended for preemergence and 30 to 35 litre per hectare for post-emergence application. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. Droplet coverage: 20 to 30 droplets per cm 2 must be recovered at the target area, when applied pre-emergence and 35 to 45 when applied post-emergence. Droplet size: A droplet spectrum with a VMD of 350 to 450 microns is recommended, when applied pre-emergence and 300 to 350 microns when applied post-emergence. Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum. Flying height: Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 metres above the target. Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking. Use suitable atomising equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product. The spraying system must produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible Relative Span. Position all the atomisers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day. Spraying under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following: - reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air (inadequate coverage), - damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the aerial spray operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference. BASTION SC/11/01/

Will control most broadleaf weeds (up to 100 mm), grasses in 1- to 3-leaf stage and will suppress emerged yellow nutsedge only. Use the higher rate where Panicum maximum is a problem or for improved control of yellow nutsedge. Use the lower rate of BASTION SC on lighter soils and the higher rate on medium to heavier soils. If weeds have already emerged, refer to the table below for post-emergence treatments. Apply to soils containing 0 to 30 % clay. Apply to soils containing > 30 % clay. 6,0 l/ha Add a non-ionic surfactant at 0,2 % by volume. Add 3,5 litre MCPA per hectare or 3,0 litre 2,4- D amine per hectare plus a non-ionic surfactant at 0,2 % by volume. 4,0 5,0 l/ha 2,0 3,0 l/ha Add 1,5 litre paraquat 200 SL per hectare. Remarks: BASTION SC alone will suppress yellow nutsedge, but may be effectively controlled by the addition of MCPA or 2,4-D amine at the recommended rate. Under favourable climatic conditions, good control of yellow nutsedge may be obtained using BASTION SC plus hexazinone WDG, hexazinone 240 SL or Acetochlor 900 at their respective application rates. The latter treatments will also provide extended residual weed control. BASTION SC plus 2,4-D amine or MCPA may be applied over the top of the sugar cane crop up to the 5-leaf stage. Direct the spray between the rows wherever possible, especially after the 5-leaf stage of the crop. If the spray mixture is left to stand for any length of time, the mixture must be well agitated before application recommences. Where BASTION SC has been applied alone as an early post-emergence treatment, or where Acetochlor 900 plus BASTION SC have been applied as pre-emergence treatments, BASTION SC plus MCPA or 2,4-D amine may be applied as a follow-up directed treatment. Post-emergence treatments should be applied no later than the 3-leaf stage of grass weeds. Where grass weed density is high, use the higher dosage rate option. Treatments which include paraquat may be applied up to the 3-leaf stage of the crop. Treatments including BASTION SC at more than 3,0 litres per hectare should be directed between the rows to avoid excessive contact with crop leaves. BASTION SC/11/01/

Remarks: BASTION SC is recommended for use on mixed weed infestations. In emergency weed control situations, BASTION SC may be applied at 12 to 16 litres per hectare as an early post-emergence treatment before grasses reach the tillering stage. CROP: DOSAGE RATE: REMARKS: CASSAVA Apply pre-emergence of weeds at planting. Must be applied immediately after planting of sets or tops. Rain or irrigation is essential to leach the product into the root zone of the weeds 6 8 l/ha and therefore 10 to 15 mm of rain or irrigation is necessary within 7 to 10 days of application to ensure optimum results. Sets already sprouting at the eyes, or tops budding new shoots or leaves must not be sprayed. Remarks For over-wintering application on mature plants, wait until leaves have been shed before spraying. Apply 4 to 6 litres BASTION SC plus 2 litres paraquat 200 SL per hectare as a directed spray. GENERAL REMARKS: Situations with high soil organic matter or excessive dead plant material on the soil surface may reduce the length of residual control obtained. Reduced residual control of shallower germinating weeds may occur where application of BASTION SC made on soils with low organic matter and/or clay content is followed by heavy rain or irrigation shortly after application. Degree of pre-emergence weed control and duration of effect may vary, depending on weed species, environmental conditions and soil conditions. BASTION SC/11/01/
