3 Introduction HIGH FIVE is a comprehensive quality standard for organizations providing recreation and sport programs to children aged 6 to 12. This is achieved by providing sport and recreation professionals with tools, training and resources to promote and support the Principles of Healthy Child Development. The HIGH FIVE Quality Assurance Process a unique Accreditation process for recreation and sport programs continues to be adopted by organizations across Canada including municipalities, YMCAs, YWCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, sport organizations and daycares. HIGH FIVE Accreditation establishes the benchmark for excellence in children s recreation and sport programming based upon a child-focused, research-based quality framework. There are Authorized Providers across the country licenced to deliver HIGH FIVE in Canada. For example, the Authorized Provider in Ontario is Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO). The Authorized Provider in Newfoundland and Labrador is Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador (RNL). For a complete list of Authorized Providers, please see our website at Because HIGH FIVE is a quality standard, and a registered trademark, it is of the utmost importance that the HIGH FIVE brand is applied consistently across the country and reflects the same high standard that HIGH FIVE delivers. This guide is designed to provide guiding principles, policies and regulations regarding: Use of the HIGH FIVE logo Typeface for promotional materials Key messages and wording for HIGH FIVE materials Guidelines for producing all HIGH FIVE materials These policies are mandatory for all organizations engaged in using the HIGH FIVE standard and are designed to assist Authorized Providers and/or Registered Organizations in creating professional, high quality materials that reflect the HIGH FIVE core values. 3
4 HIGH FIVE Visual Identity HIGH FIVE visual identity includes: HIGH FIVE (the name) is always written in UPPER CASE and must always be used with registered symbol in superscript ie:. The logo with new tagline The best way to play (formerly Quality at Play); is used with the Trademark symbol in superscript. Registered Organizations receive this logo electronically from their Authorized Provider once they have completed the Learn! level (See chart below) and submitted the Logo/Communications Request Form on page 10. Descriptor/Footer: All national HIGH FIVE materials will use this descriptor. Authorized Providers can localize this descriptor by using their name as long as Parks and Recreation Ontario is credited: ie: HIGH FIVE A quality standard of Recreation Nova Scotia Other HIGH FIVE visual identity elements: Purple/yellow colour scheme (for details, see page 6) Typography (for details, see page 8) HIGH FIVE Accreditation Process Quality Framework Module Achieve! About the logo: Five stars are the symbol of excellence and quality. Programs bearing the HIGH FIVE logo are committed to achieving the highest standard of quality in their children s programs. The fun nature of the logo design and colours reinforces that HIGH FIVE is about children s play. 4
5 Using the HIGH FIVE Logo HIGH FIVE Best way to play logo This is the corporate logo to be used by HIGH FIVE Authorized Providers and by all Registered Organizations that have completed the Learn! level. (See chart on page 4) Logo Revocation The HIGH FIVE Authorized Provider has the right to revoke the use of the HIGH FIVE logo according to the terms of the Registered Organization Agreement. IMPORTANT! The HIGH FIVE logo is protected by trademark and may not be used by any unauthorized organization (non-registered with HIGH FIVE ) or individual, unless approved by HIGH FIVE National. Current HIGH FIVE logo (The best way to play) must replace outdated logo (Quality at Play). HOW TO Eligible Registered Organizations must complete and submit a Logo/Communications Request Form (See page 10) outlining how they propose to use the HIGH FIVE logo. This helps the Authorized Provider keep track of how HIGH FIVE is represented in the community. Once the form is reviewed and approved, organizations are given access to the digital files they require. GENERAL DOS AND DON TS The HIGH FIVE logos represent quality the essence of HIGH FIVE. It is therefore imperative that all applications of the logo also represent quality. The logo should not be applied in such a way, or to products, that will reduce the quality of the logo or the professional image of HIGH FIVE (e.g. faded colour due to print quality, cracked or peeling painted wall, rusty vehicle, etc.) The following pages will provide a visual guide to logo usage. Listed here are some quick and simple Dos and Don ts to assist in assuring a clean and consistent image. DO: Indicate format preference to Authorized Provider depending on application (website, print, banner, etc.). Maintain appropriate colour standards (see Logo Use Specifications, next page). Ensure maximum visual impact by using the logos with appropriate amounts of protected space around the logo (ie: ensure logo stands alone and is not crowded). DON T: Alter the elements within the logos. Add decorative or other elements to the logos. Distort the logo by stretching it. Use outdated versions of the logo (e.g. Quality at Play version). Place the logo in any questionable places (e.g. backside of pants). 5
