Meet Jonathan Harker, as he reads from his journal, the frightful events that occurred in Count Dracula s castle. Listen with delight as Oscar Wilde tells children and adults his story of The selfish giant. He will then introduce us to his latest play The Importance of Being Earnest where Lady Bracknell and Algenon are about to have afternoon tea. Visit Sean O Casey s tenement Dublin and gaze with wonder as Mrs. Gogan gossips about Nora Clitheroe s antics. Be inspired by Big Jim Larkin s speech from Dublin Castle and Padraig Pearse s graveside oration. For children, Irish History Live with bring the heady days of 1913 Dublin tenements to life. Gallery 1 and 2 will host the Dance exhibitions Walking on White Lines from dancer in residence Jessica Kennedy as well as The Dance of Making from Dance artist Mary Wycherley. The Pop up show featuring the best of Irish craft and design will be on view in the lobby. RUA RED is the home of a community of creatives featuring writers, visual artists, jewellery designers, music schools and arts providers. The artist studios and creative spaces throughout the building will open their doors to the public as part of Culture Night This is a great opportunity to meet with our creative tenants and take part in artist led demonstrations. A selection of resident artists and building users (print maker, writers, theatre practitioners and arts providers) will host demonstrations in their studios and in the ground floor project space. Today, it s home to 70,000 people. Headin Out is a TCA project exploring Tallaght through the eyes of five artists. Theatre director Jenny MacDonald hosts a theatrical performance/workshop with local residents sharing stories about how they ve made Tallaght their home.

Visitors can self-guide or take a guided tour of this architectural gem. Pearse Museum St. Enda s Park, Grange Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 brian.crowley@opw.ie The museum will be open on 20th September from 9.30am to 9.00pm Guides will be on hand to give tours of the historic house where Patrick Pearse lived and ran his school from The House contains artefacts, personal memorabilia and artworks owned by Patrick Pearse and his family. The rooms are laid out to reflect what it would have looked like when Pearse ran his school there and include a school dormitory, museum and art gallery. The building and surrounding parkland is particularly beautiful at the close of day and visitors are invited to come and experience its unique atmosphere.

The event incorporates spoken and a visual presentation by historian Catriona Crowe contextualising the period in which the novel is set and focusing in particular on the realities of Dublin tenement life. It is interwoven with several readings from the novel by performer Fergus Cronin and these excerpts will bring to life the primary, much-loved characters from the novel including Larkin, Mulhall, Fitz, Fr O Connor, Fr Giffley, and Rashers Tierney.
