WITH HOMES IN NEW YORK AND LONDON, IT S NO WONDER the owners of this sprawling 10,000-square-foot manse set their sites on The Bear s Club in Jupiter, Fla., when they decided to build their dream golf getaway. The Bear s Club, a world-class golf and club experience that boasts unparalleled privacy and luxurious amenities, is one of the southeast s most prestigious golf course communities. 2 WE NEVER REPEAT THE SAME DESIGN ELEMENT IN ANOTHER HOME, INTERIOR DESIGNER LORRAINE ROGERS-BOLTON SAYS. IT S AS IF OUR CLIENTS ARE PURCHASING AN ORIGINAL PAINTING. In the elegant two-story entry, a center pedestal table flanked by twin benches, cushioned in an embroidered velvet from Zimmer+Rohde, welcomes guests. He envisioned great public spaces for entertaining and comfortable guestrooms that would accommodate friends visiting for a weekend round of golfing. The owners commissioned Rogers-Bolton, and architect and general contractor Ken Weitz simultaneously after viewing a few of their projects in The Bear s Club. To gain a better sense of the couple s lifestyle and the nuances of their design aesthetic, the designer flew to the couple s Connecticut home. Throughout the process, the owners remained hands-off, entrusting Rogers-Bolton and her team to create an environment that expressed their love of simple, refined elegance, but with a South Florida sensibility. A strong and graceful design with classic symmetry defines the interior style and the exterior architecture of the home. Built from the ground up, the French Chateau-inspired estate features an array of indulgences such as individual his-and-her studies, a media room, an exercise pavilion and an outdoor cabana. 3 The use of a neutral palette throughout the home lends graceful sophistication, and blends well with warm walnut wood to convey an elegant and relaxed impression. with the builder consulting on every aspect of the front and rear elevations, as well as the interior, Rogers-Bolton says. A dedicated team approach led to a great result. Interiors outfitted in walnut and ebonized woods in hues of cream, gray and indigo blue give way to spectacular pool and golf course views. Throughout, a unique blend of custom designs, newer pieces and items from the owners personal collection lend a one-of-a-kind feel. A step inside the dramatic twostory entry reveals a round pedestal table that centers the space opposite a French door with intricate iron scrollwork. Beyond that, the sophisticated living room reflects the couple s desire for an area with a simple conversation grouping. Here, a custom silk area rug grounds lightly scaled furnishings, including Kravet s tufted tête-à-tête. Overhead, the elegant hand-blown Murano-glass chandelier, casts a glow upon a trio of arched windows that lend architectural interest. Artwork by Chinese artist Wei Jia, displayed on Patty Madden s silvery gray wall covering, catches the eye with a pop of color. LEFT: A walnut wood wall creates a statement in the family room, where Italmond armchairs clad in Norbar s indigo blue fabric sit in striking complement. 4 In the casual dining room, an ebonized-wood Swaim table and Ficks Reed s rattan dining chairs, cushioned in Duralee s bold, flame-stitched motif, create an intimate vignette that overlooks the pool and sculpture gardens. From the living space, the dark-stained walnut flooring flows through to the family room, where ivory, cream and deep blue hues wrap furnishings to counter rich wood cabinetry and paneling. Designed with relaxation and entertaining in mind, the room features a woven-linen sofa and companion club chairs dressed in a striped brushed cotton. Nearby, a custom cocktail table s bleached ash-wood base traverses to create two cozy nooks that conceal a pair of bamboo-framed Hickory Chair stools. Walnut wood dresses a custom-designed entertainment center that spans one wall, while stately mesh-wood valances top French doors on another. The original design of the dining room proved too formal for the owners who desired a space with relaxed furnishings and an outdoor view. We turned the formal dining room into a fabulous study for the wife and created a sunlit dining room just off the kitchen, Rogers-Bolton says. Inspired by the West Indies, dining chairs cushioned in a flame-stitched fabric center walls of windows that provide the perfect view of the pool. Ivory enamel cabinetry and marble countertops highlighted by dark wood flooring provide the perfect counterpoint to a sleek, modern stainless steel backsplash. Just outside, a walkway colonnade leads to the exercise pavilion and a loggia. A pair of matching sofas on the loggia sit covered in Perennial s fabric from David Sutherland. Beneath a coffered ceiling with walnut-stained inlay, an eclectic collection of iron and wicker patio furnishings set the perfect scene for entertaining al fresco. As gentle palm trees frame the tranquil pool and relaxation takes hold, it becomes crystal clear why the owners chose to build their dream home in The Bear s Club it truly is a golfer s paradise, found.
