URBAMOV Group / CTRI The CTRI Working Group on Urban Mobility entitled URBAMOV was created on ovember 12, 2004 at the Crowthorne Assembly of members Principal aim in the short term: Publication in may 2005 of a Strategic Research Agenda on Urban Public Transport Mobility to be presented for the first time at the 56th UITP World congress and at the Mobility and city Transport xhibition in Rome in June Contribution in April 2007 for the uropean Commission green paper dated September 25, 2007 entitled: Towards a new culture for urban mobility adine MORDAT: CTRI : nadine.mordant@inrets.fr

2 W COTXT uropean parliament resolution on an Action plan on urban mobility (which was announced by the commission) April 23, 2009 and many strategic research agendas Two strong recommendations welcomed by all transport actors : -Urban mobility in broad sense of the term (persons and goods, all modes, multimodal transport, integrated planning, social behaviour ) is a huge field of research and must be reinforced -Develop partnership between transport research institutions and city authorities (finding sites volunteering for implementation) reinforcing the innovation in urope including the private sector initiatives Implies fine tuning of uropean legal and financial frameworks Conference URBA MOBILITY in the Light of the Lisbon Strategy Brno / 13 May 2009

3 URBAMOV RFLCTIOS FOR BRO K O W L D G Foster research and innovation on urban mobility, some general fields or tools must be developed in the medium term : -Information and data exchanges : creating a real and efficient network on urban mobility (including best practices and benchmark) usable by all actors in order to increase and share the knowledge basis also for sustainable purposes. Proposition : uropean urban mobility observatory (towards data standardisation) - Developing physical implementations, testing and demonstration sites at a large scale (as proposed in urban buses SRA) respecting the Subsidiarity Principle; including expert exchanges and sharing feedback on implementations on a regular basis Conference URBA MOBILITY in the Light of the Lisbon Strategy Brno / 13 May 2009

Create a new positive urban planning concept related to transportation system (persons and goods), transit, road safety supporting all inclusive transport, various modes, multimodal uses, Main goal : use efficiently urban mobility and new sustainable urban transport as driving forces behind urban planning and land use ew tools based on advanced research are necessary and should be invented and Urbamove has to work on it Conference URBA MOBILITY in the Light of the Lisbon Strategy Brno / 13 May 2009

5 URBAMOV RFLCTIOS FOR BRO T C H O L O G Y Acceleration and intensification of research on new technology : ICT and ITS targeting urban mobility and sustainable traffic management, road safety and security in public transport, transportation of goods, soft modes of transportation (walking, cycling, etc.), Development of environmental friendly Urban Traffic Management Centre (priority to clean vehicles, promote green traffic waves, ) Promote new work or leisure behaviours thanks to new technology (flexible working hours, work at home, internet shopping and training, ) ric Boulatov on stop 1990 Paint on a piece of the Berlin wall For the benefit of all stakeholders, taking the user s needs and preferences into account, The economic and environmental considerations are equally important Conference URBA MOBILITY in the Light of the Lisbon Strategy Brno / 13 May 2009
