INTRODUCTION TO AECOM AMAZING IS SEEING OUR CLIENTS VISIONS BECOME A REALITY THANKS TO THE HARD WORK AND IMAGINATION OF 18,000 ENGINEERS, PLANNERS, ECONOMISTS, SCIENTISTS AND PROGRAMME MANAGERS. LARA CHIEF EXECUTIVE, AECOM, EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA AND INDIA When I first joined AECOM in my home town of Melbourne, Australia, I was a planner on a major port expansion and redevelopment project. I really didn t envisage that 20 years later I would be living in London and leading AECOM s Europe, Middle East, India and Africa business. The fact I am shows the opportunities available to you when you join AECOM. After years of study, you are probably feeling excited and perhaps a little apprehensive about what the next few years may hold. I certainly felt that way; I hope your next step will be to choose AECOM. With 800 graduates in the UK and Ireland, we are proud to be considered among the UK s top employers, rising to #54 in the Guardian UK 300 Graduate Employers List. We invest heavily in the quality of our graduate programme because we know graduates are critical to our success and will become our future leaders. The fresh perspectives and ideas they bring to our diverse and evolving business are invaluable. We focus on providing our graduates with opportunities to learn new skills, to work with talented and experienced colleagues and to make a positive impact on communities near and far. Every day, I m amazed to learn of the challenges we solve for our clients, and the lives we re shaping and influencing through our work. It s these challenges that have seen me build my career here, and which make AECOM an exciting and rewarding place to start your career. Lara Poloni Chief Executive Europe, Middle East, India and Africa

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING AND PLANNING AMAZING IS HELPING CREATE WORLD-CLASS FACILITIES FOR THE SPORTING EVENT I LOVE. BRENDAN SENIOR CONSULTANT, DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING, TRANSPORTATION, DUBLIN Brendan Mitchell is a Senior Consultant in our Dublin Transportation team. He graduated with an MEng in Civil Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University. Since joining AECOM I ve worked on The Curragh Racecourse Redevelopment from concept right through to construction. It s one of Ireland s most high-profile construction projects and particularly close to my heart because horse racing is one of my passions. I ve enjoyed every minute of working on such a large scale, high-profile project, which has fast tracked my personal and career development. I m proud to be playing a key part in securing the future of Ireland s home of horse racing. Making connections Join AECOM s growing Transportation team and get to work on some of the largest and most innovative infrastructure projects not only in the UK and Ireland but around the world. Our team specialises in aviation, rail, highways, bridges, transport planning, development planning, ITS, traffic and local roads. Our talented team takes projects from concept to completion and beyond, with projects including Dublin Airport Runway, the A6 Randalstown to Castledawson upgrade and the York Street Interchange in Belfast Curragh Racecourse redevelopment
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING Clancy Quay, Dublin AMAZING IS HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAVEL AS PART OF MY JOB. CLARE GRADUATE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST, DUBLIN Clare Crossan is a Graduate Environmental Scientist in our Dublin Environment team. She graduated with a BSc in Geology at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. At AECOM, I have had the opportunity to work on complex projects and have had a hands-on learning experience. An amazing benefit of AECOM is having the ability to travel across Ireland and the UK to visit various sites with the possibility to travel further afield in the future. As an AECOM graduate with the Environmental Liability Team I have had positive mentoring and multiple opportunities to progress my own technical learning. Protection is key With one of the largest environmental teams in the UK and Ireland we understand the complex interactions between a range of environmental issues facing communities, organisations and entire countries, delivering air quality, ecology and remediation through to geospatial and data, carbon capture and environmental permitting projects, to name but a few. We have provided our environmental expertise on a range of projects from residential schemes such as Clancy Quay in Dublin to Facebook s newly opened data centre in Clonee, County Meath, which is one of the most energy efficient and modern data centres in the world, packed full of cutting-edge technology and powered by 100% renewable wind energy.
BUILDING ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING Titanic Belfast Christopher Heaney. AMAZING IS HAVING THE LATEST AND MOST INNOVATIVE TOOLS AT MY FINGERTIPS. DAVID GRADUATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, DUBLIN David Coleman is an Electrical Engineer in our Dublin Building Engineering team. He graduated in Electrical Engineering at Edinburgh Napier University. At AECOM, I get to design unique spaces to the latest standards in energy efficient design while reducing building costs. I ve worked on a wide range of projects so far from data centres to healthcare facilities both in Ireland and internationally using the latest predictive modelling software, in-house programmes and the latest in 3D modelling. Our Dun Laoghaire office in Dublin is primarily a BIM-only office; we really are at the forefront of efficient design within Ireland s engineering consultancy industry. Doing more with less In a world of finite resources, AECOM s building engineering team is committed to delivering sustainable solutions, whether for a tall building, airport terminal or shopping mall. Optimising the performance of buildings is key to our work. Building engineering involves building services and public health, building physics, structures, acoustics, fire, process and automation, information technology, communications and sustainability. Our projects in Ireland include the expansion of Dublin Airport to meet rising numbers of passengers now and in the future; and the Titanic Belfast, an award-winning tourist attraction, which features an AECOMdesigned energy system capable of generating enough power and heat to export to adjacent properties as part of a district energy solution.
WATER ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING Derry Sewerage Network, Northern Ireland AMAZING IS INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS. NAIMH GRADUATE CIVIL ENGINEER, BELFAST Naimh McElroy is a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Belfast Water team. She graduated in Civil Engineering at Queen s University Belfast. Through AECOM s corporate responsibility programme you can volunteer at a charity or not-for-profit organisation using some of your paid working days each year. I recently visited my local primary school through the Institute of Civil Engineers Bridge to School Programme where I helped young students build a cable-stayed bridge that they could walk on, giving them insight into one of the many exciting and rewarding things civil engineers do each day. It was a great opportunity to tell them about my profession and how I got to where I am now; and to inspire them to become the next generation of civil engineers. Thinking differently about water For us, water is key to creating healthier communities and more beautiful places. We are making both of these a reality; whether delivering flood risk projects that enhance the natural environment, to developing energy-efficient treatment processes and smart water networks. Managing the water cycle across whole catchments, our scope includes water and wastewater treatment, water infrastructure and flood and coastal erosion risk management. Our projects in Ireland include the restoration of the Camlough Reservoir to provide an enhanced recreational and tourism resource for the future; and the South Campshires flood protection scheme which is protecting 3,000 homes from flooding, while enabling the local community to continue to enjoy use of the riverside location.
SURVEYING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT Central Bank of Ireland, Dublin AMAZING IS ALL THE NEW FRIENDS I HAVE MADE SINCE I JOINED AECOM. JOHN GRADUATE QUANTITY SURVEYOR, DUBLIN John Greene is a Graduate Quantity Surveyor in our Dublin Cost Management team. He studied Quantity Surveying at Waterford Institute of Technology. When I joined AECOM I didn t know anyone else in the company but that quickly changed after I signed up to join the social club in our office. It s great, organising anything from BBQs to cooking classes, which everyone across the office can get involved in. We also have a monthly pizza and beer night, which most of us in our office attend. Regular social events like these help bring people together from across the business. They re always great fun and such a good way to get to know other graduates as well as people from other AECOM teams in relaxed settings. Adding value AECOM s programme, cost and consultancy experts serve private and public sector clients all over the world. They focus on reducing risk from projects, improving value and assuring outcomes. Practice areas range from building surveying, cost management and financial and economic consulting through to design management, health and safety consulting and fiscal incentives. Some of our recent projects include cost managing the Central Bank of Ireland s headquarters at North Wall Quay in Dublin that brought together teams spread at different locations across the city; and cost and project managing LinkedIn s state-of-theart Europe, Middle East and Africa headquarters, also in Dublin.
DESIGN, PLANNING AND ECONOMICS Belfast Streets Ahead AMAZING IS HAVING THE FREEDOM TO BALANCE MY WORK, HOLIDAYS AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. ROISIN GRADUATE TOWN PLANNER, BELFAST Roisin McGrane is a Graduate Town Planner in our Belfast DP+E team. She graduated with a BSc in Geography before gaining her MSc in Planning and Development both at Queens University Belfast. There are lots of benefits of working at AECOM from being able to buy more holidays and private health insurance to being part of a really sociable office. It means it s easy to achieve a great work-life balance, and feel a sense of wellbeing, which helps keep me motivated, healthy and happy it really is a place I enjoy coming to everyday. Creating places to enjoy Our DP+E practice line comprises landscape architecture, town planning, environmental and ecological planning, economics, masterplanning, workplace interior design and strategy consulting, sustainability and urban design. Whether working on a large corporate landscape or a small urban park, we consider each site s physical surroundings, client needs, financial mechanisms, long-term community effects, implementation and maintenance. Flagship projects include Belfast Streets Ahead which transformed Belfast city centre to create a safe, beautiful and walkable place; the 2012 London Olympic Park, and the Royal Jubilee Maternity Services in Belfast.
ARCHITECTURE Lagan Weir Footbridge, Belfast AMAZING IS PRESENTING MY OWN RESEARCH PAPER AT AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN BELGIUM. LIBBY GRADUATE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT, BELFAST Libby Rose is a Graduate Landscape Architect in our Belfast Architecture team. She graduated in Landscape Architecture at the University of Edinburgh. Attending industry events where I can share my ideas and learn from others is really important to me. When the opportunity came up to attend The European Council of Landscape School Conference in Belgium, my manager was really supportive and encouraged me to present my own research paper at it. As an AECOM graduate there are some great opportunities to develop your technical and professional skills so you can keep learning and reach your full potential. Shaping the world around us Our architecture team delivers projects that seek a balance between art and technology, form and function, beauty and purpose. Our building and interior designers and landscape architects deliver high-rise buildings that form city skylines, transportation, educational and healthcare facilities and community-wide design schemes. We designed the Rio 2016 Olympic Park Venues and have also worked on projects closer to home such as the Royal Victoria Hospital Critical Care Centre in Belfast and the Lagan Weir Bridge which was designed for cyclists and pedestrians, to better connect the city centre to the developing waterfront.

Before finishing in college I received an offer to work in the Dublin office s Funding Advisory team, where I am now primarily involved in preparing Bank Monitoring reports. Since joining full time I ve been over to the UK for training sessions which are helping me on my path to gaining professional membership and chartership.
