9 covering grids Licon PK Licon PM floor grids represent a supplement for floor convectors. By selecting various types of material or suitable colour shades you can pleasantly complement your interior. The design of the grids enables their easy uncovering (they can be rolled), e.g. due to cleaning of the convector heat exchanger and at the same time ensures their strength during load transfer. Grid design variants Wooden grids Natural beech Natural oak Natural hornbeam Natural mahogany Aluminium grids Stainless-steel grid Silver Gold Bronze Stainless-steel Note: The floor grids are made of natural materials and therefore minor deviations in the colour design cannot be eliminated. The supplier can neither fully guarantee the presented colours nor accept complaints for the reason of possible colour deviations. 10 Licon design shapes Specifications: Before acceptance of an order for a special (custom-made) design of the convector, the corresponding custom production form must be filled in. You can download this form on or request it from the Sales Department. On the basis of this filled in form we reserve the right to assess the production possibilities before accepting the order. Corner parts must be ordered together with the adjacent convectors. All the special (custom-made) shapes are always delivered including the ordered covering grid, whose specifications must also be made with the order of the convector. Heat outputs cannot be guaranteed in any way; on request the manufacturer will make a qualified estimate of the thermal output. No heat exchanger can be placed in the corner part, as this will prevent it from functioning properly. Corner design Corner design U Corner design Z Arc design Note: More information on Connection of PK floor convectors tub types by the location of water inlets and lowering of faces for serial assembly. Lowering of faces of convector tubs is used in places where a visible connection of convectors to each other is not desirable (long rows of convectors, e.g. administrative buildings, hotels, etc.). When ordering walk-on grids you must specify that it is the case of a floor grid that will be used on a convector with a lowered face (the data must be specified in a special ordering form you will be provided by the Sales Department). It si the first radiator with jacketing manufactured of ceramic tiles. It is a very original heating element, designed for areas where original, unconventional design is demanded. CERAMIC is not only unique from the outside, but inside there is a sophisticated system of heat transfer to the room. Beginning with the new arrangement of the Al/Cu exchanger and especially the regulation system of low-noise axial fans - only 21.4 db in permanent operation. The required temperature in the room can be set by the user directly on the heating element. If multiple elements are used in one room, one is designated as a master that controls the others or the entire system can be connected to a programmable thermostat. For short-term power increase CERAMIC is equipped with the Turbo function, when for about 10 minutes the fan speed is increased, which increases the output by approx. 20%. The system evaluates the temperature of heating water and air in the room and selects the optimal heating curve accordingly. Use in interiors 20

32 Licon Information for the installation of convectors Installation of the LICON PK convector Convector installation - construction recommendations Several general quidelines must be followed to ensure proper functioning of the convector. In a properly installed element the exchanger is located further from the window. To interconnect the exchanger and the distributing pipeline, the standard stainless-steel hoses with stainless-steel jacketing must be used (unless recommended otherwise) which always form a part of the delivery. In practice they provide a better access under the heating register without its dismounting from the heating system, e.g. during cleaning. Always connect the supply of the heat-carrying medium to the heating system to the pipe that is further from the fan. In the case of the width of 42 cm use the OR-J3 heating register, where the heat-carrying medium passes through two pipes forth and one back. A correctly installed convector is mounted horizontally and the top edges of the convector tub are not warped or deflected to ensure proper functioning of the walk-on grid and the possibility of bleeding the heat exchanger. If a convector is installed properly, its decorative frame is flush with the floor covering with the tolerance of +2mm. To prevent soiling of the inside of the convector, you must protect it with a covering board during concreting. Caution, the board is not designed for walking on! The floor convector must be firmly embedded in concrete. The setting screws are only used for horizontal levelling of the convector tub. The convector must not stand on these screws without being embedded in concrete. The convector is not designed for load transfer by the bottom. During concreting the convector must be fixed to the floor with the use of anchoring screws that will prevent vertical shifting of the convector during subsequent pouring of concrete. During pouring of concrete you can also load the convector vertically. During concreting the convector must be strutted to prevent deformation of the tub. All convectors with a stainless-steel types are equipped with a built-in water drain as standard. During the installation it must be interconnected with the tube on the bottom of the convector with a pipeline with guaranteed gradient for wastewater removal. We recommend you to equip the drain with an odour trap. 33 Information for the installation of convectors Licon Recommended location of the heat exchanger of the Licon PK models - 30 and 45 cm depths LOCATION OF THE EXCHANGER AT THE ROOM SIDE Descending stream of cool air enters the convector case. The rising flow of heated air then supports natural air circulation in the room and creates a screen in front of the window area. This arrangement is suitable in rooms where the convector is the only heating source and where the share of window heat losses in the total heat loss of the room is about %. Q of the window = % Q of the convector LOCATION OF THE EXCHANGER AT THE WINDOW SIDE This location is suitable in rooms where heat losses on the part of the room prevail and there is only a small share of window losses (20 % at the most). The distance between the convector and the window should be selected as short as possible. Q of the window Q of the convector = up to 20 % Mounting location Window Partition Grid rib Decorative frame Expansion joint Clean floor Insulation Insulation Register Rectification screw Insulation Anchor Metal plating Insulation Rough floor Connection dimensions Depth 7.5, 9 and 11 cm Depth 15, 19, 30 and 45 cm for elements of 7.5 cm depth A = 40 mm for elements of 9 cm depth A = 50 mm for elements of 11 cm depth A = 60 mm for elements of 15 and 19 cm depth B = 50 mm for elements of 30 cm depth B = 120 mm for elements of 45 cm depth B = 290 mm 33

34 Licon Information for the installation of convectors Installation of the Licon OL convector Installation instructions OL stand models a) wall-mounted - attachment to the wall. Recommended positioning 10 cm above the clean floor. The delivered brackets (2 pieces) allow a height and length tolerance of approx. 2 cm. The fixation spans are shown in the figure. b) stand type - attachment to the floor. You can select from stands for the rough or clean floor. The rough floor alternative allows the height tolerance of approx. 5 cm. You will find the spans for floor attachment in the figure. Installation procedure (valid for all the models) The first step consists in measurement and drilling in the consoles. Then, seat the heat exchanger and connect it to the heating system. Finally, put on the cover with the outlet grid, fasten it to the bracket pins and secure it by screwing. OL/D with a plate We recommend you to attach the element to the floor using a fastening anchor that is inside the side plate (leg). After seating on the convector the plates should be fixed against undesired movement. You will find more detailed information in the installation instructions. The elements are delivered in the assembled condition. 35 Information for the installation of convectors Licon Installation of the Licon OK, OK/C convector Installation instructions It is recommended to always position the wall-mounted heating element on a peripheral wall, 10 cm above the floor. Elements are suspended on the wall with the use of brackets, screws and special brackets that are included in the delivery. See the sketch of element anchorage for the method of suspension on the wall. The brackets allow for a height tolerance of 5 cm. The elements are delivered in the assembled condition. The LICON OK/C element is suspended on the wall with the use of dowels and screws. The supporting structures must be able to bear the weight of the element. Near the place of installation of every element there must be a 230 V power point. Anchoring diagram convector back anchoring set Installation of the Licon OR convector Installation instructions For proper functioning you must ensure sufficient supply of heated air, the convector case must exhibit sufficient tightness and the outlet grid must be adequately permeable (see fig. on page 9). We recommend you to install the registers 10 cm above the clean floor. For this purpose we deliver 2 types of brackets. They may be in the floor version (stand type) with the height of 5 and 10 cm, or in the wall-suspension design. The number of pipes of the register determines the width of the bracket. The brackets are not included in the delivery.
