ACTION: Install an extension hose on the A/C evaporator drain. See the Service Procedure for instructions on cutting and installing the extension hose. If the water leak has damaged the front carpet, replace it. IMPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 3) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. CLAIMS INFORMATION Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the following claims coding: DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE SYM DIA FRT Install A/C Evaporator Drain Extension Hose (1) TX19AA ZQ hrs (1) Use Part Number S000 as the PFP. And, IF needed, on the same line: DESCRIPTION OP CODE FRT RPL Front Carpet VD28AA (2) (2) Reference the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT. NOTE: Do NOT use the carpet P/N as a PFP. 2/6

3 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Lift the vehicle and remove the passenger side (right side) front wheel and inner finder skirt (fender protector). Refer to section EI in the Service Manual for fender protector removal information. 2. After the fender protector is out of the way, remove the A/C drain hose (see Figures 1 and 2). A/C drain hose Figure 1 Remove the clip and pull the hose out from the bulkhead. Remove clip Pull out CAUTION: Be Careful. You are working near engine components which may be hot. Figure 2 NOTE: If the vehicle has rear HVAC, the lines (A/C and heater) will be in front of the drain hose as shown in Figure 3. This will make it slightly harder to see and reach the A/C drain hose, but will not require any special steps to remove the hose and perform the procedure in this bulletin. 4 NOTE: With the A/C drain hose removed, you can see the evaporator drain tube. Evaporator drain tube You will be installing the extension hose on this tube. Figure 4 3. Cut the extension hose as shown in Figure 5. The hose that you will use for the extension is listed in the Parts Information as Hose-Ventilation. Cut 1 5 / 8 inch (40 mm) from each end. Cut 1 5 / 8 inch (40 mm) Figure 5 NOTE: The extension hose should look like this after it is cut. Both ends will be the same length from the elbow. Figure 6 4/6

5 4. Install the extension hose on the evaporator drain tube as shown in Figure 7. Extension hose Do not point the extension hose opening straight down. Angle the extension hose opening a little to the right (away from the engine) as shown. Figure 7 5. Reinstall the original drain hose over the extension hose and make sure it fits into the bulkhead correctly. If the drain hose will not fit correctly into the bulkhead, it may be hitting the extension hose. NOTE: The amount the drain tube (see Figure 4) sticks out will vary a little from vehicle to vehicle. This variation may require the extension hose to be shortened further. Check for correct fit into bulkhead Figure 8 Push on over extension hose Only if Needed: A. Remove the extension hose and cut 3/8 inch (10 mm) more off of the evaporator end. NOTE: Before the cut, both ends of the hose are the same length. After the cut, the shorter end will be the evaporator end. B. Reinstall the extension hose as shown in step 5, Figure 7. Make sure the correct end is on the evaporator. C. Reinstall the original drain hose over the extension hose and make sure it fits into the bulkhead correctly. Cut 3 / 8 inch (10 mm) only if needed Figure 9 Evaporator 5/6

6 6. Reinstall drain hose retaining clip. Make sure the drain hose is correctly fitted into the bulkhead. Reinstall clip Make sure secure fit Figure Operate the A/C and make sure: Water is draining from the drain hose, and The carpet does not get wet. NOTE: The A/C operation time needed to confirm water is draining correctly will vary depending on the ambient humidity (humidity around the vehicle). Ambient humidity may vary between inside and outside the shop; it also may vary due to weather conditions. 8. Reinstall the fender protector and front wheel in reverse order. Torque the wheel lug nuts using a torque wrench to 133 N m (14 kg-m, 98 ft-lb). 6/6
