2 IMPORTANT SAFGUARDS IMPORTANT SAFGUARDS Follow the basi safety preautions When using eletrial applianes, basi safety preautions shall always be followed, to redue the risk of fire, eletri shok, and/or injury to persons, inluding the following: Read all instrutions. Do not touh hot surfaes. Use handles or knobs. To protet against fire, eletri shok and injury to persons, do not immerse power ord, plugs, or body of mahine in water or other liquid. Close supervision is neessary when any appliane is used by or near hildren. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before leaning. Allow to ool before putting on or taking off parts, and before leaning the appliane. Do not operate any appliane with a damaged ord or plug or after the appliane malfuntions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliane to the nearest authorized servie faility for examination, repair or adjustment. The use of an aessory attahment not reommended by the appliane manufaturer may result in fire, eletri shok, or injury to persons. Do not use outdoors. Do not let the ord hang over the edge of a table or ounter, or touh hot surfaes. Do not plae on or near a hot gas or eletri burner, or in a heated oven. Always attah plug to appliane first, then plug ord into the wall outlet. To disonnet, turn any ontrol to OFF then remove plug from wall outlet. Do not use appliane for other than intended use. 3 IMPORTANT SAFGUARDS Intended use The appliane is designed and intended for household use only. It shall only be used for offee preparation and to heat milk and water, aording to these instrutions. Use for any other purpose will be deemed improper. JURA lektroapparate AG annot aept any responsibility for the onsequenes of improper use. People, inluding hildren, who do not have the physial, sensory or mental apabilities to use the appliane safely or are inexperiened or lak knowledge in how to use the appliane safely must be supervised by a responsible person when using it, or must be instruted in how to use it orretly. Speial power ord set instrutions The power ord is provided to redue the risk resulting from beoming entangled in or tripping over a long ord. The ord shall be arranged so that it will not drape over the ounter top or table top where it an be pulled on by hildren or tripped over. This appliane has a 3-pin grounded plug. As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, ontat a qualified eletriian. Do not modify the plug in any way or attempt to defeat this safety feature. Do NOT use extension ords. If the user hooses to use an extension ord, the marked eletrial rating of the extension ord shall be at least as great as the eletrial rating of the appliane, and if the appliane is of the grounded type, the extension ord shall be a grounding type 3-wire ord, and the longer ord shall be arranged so that it will not drape over the ounter top or tabletop where it an be pulled on by hildren of tripped over. 4 IMPORTANT SAFGUARDS In the event of signs of damage, for example if there is a smell of burning, unplug the mahine immediately from outlet and ontat JURA ustomer servie. J CAUTION This appliane is for household use. Any serviing other than leaning and user maintenane shall be performed by an authorized servie representative: Do not immerse base in water or try to disassemble. Do not put the appliane or any individual parts in the dishwasher. Chek voltage to be sure that the voltage indiated on the name plate omplies with your voltage. Never use warm or hot water to fill the water ontainer. Use old water only. Keep your hands and the ord away from hot parts of the appliane during operation. There is a risk of salds or burns on the spouts and the appuino frother / nozzle. Keep hildren away. Do not touh any hot parts. Use the handles or knobs provided. nsure that the appuino frother / nozzle is orretly fitted and lean. If inorretly fitted or if they beome bloked, the appuino frother or its parts might ome off. NOTIC Never lean with souring powders or hard implements. nsure that the ventilation slots are not overed. Never pull out the drip tray during the brewing proess. Only pull the drip tray when the display instruts you or when the appliane is ready for use. 4

5 NVR DO (or you will void your warranty protetion): IMPORTANT SAFGUARDS Never fill instant offee, hoolate mix et. into the bean ontainer or ground offee funnel (filler funnel for ground offee). It will damage the funtioning of the brewing hamber. Never fill sugar oated offee beans into the bean ontainer. In ase of doubt, all your dealer. Never fill anything other than offee beans into the bean ontainer (no hoolate, no rie, no nuts, no spies, nothing other than roasted offee beans). Never fill frozen beans into the bean ontainer. If you store beans in the freezer, let them thaw 3 to 4 hours before filling them into the bean ontainer. Never fill anything but fresh, old and lean water into the water tank, exept when dealifying. Never use mineral or arbonated water. You an use tap water, bottled water, spring water and reverse osmosis water. Never do anything with the mahine whih is not desribed in these instrutions. In ase of doubt, all your dealer. 5

T Plae a reeptale under the offee spout. k T Press and hold the Rotary Swith until MAINTNANC appears. k T Press the Rotary Swith to enter the program item. CAPPUCCINO CLAN g T Turn the Rotary Swith until MACHIN RINSING is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Swith to initiate the rinse operation. RINSING Rinsing stops automatially and COFF RADY appears on the display. Inserting and ativating the filter Your IMPRSSA no longer has to be desaled if you are using the CLARYL Blue filter artridge. Perform the inserting the filter operation without any interruptions. This will ensure that your IMPRSSA always produes its best. 6 Preondition: COFF RADY is displayed. k T Press and hold the Rotary Swith until MAINTNANC appears on the display. g T Turn the Rotary Swith until FILTR is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Swith to enter the program item. FILTR NO g T Turn the Rotary Swith until FILTR YS is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Swith to onfirm the setting. CONFIRMD appears briefly on the display. INSRT FILTR / PRSS BUTTON, the Maintenane button lights up. T Remove the filter artridge extension from the Welome Pak. T Fit the filter extension on top of a CLARYL Blue filter artridge. T Remove and empty the water tank.

7 IMPRSSA 7 Quik Referene Guide T Open the filter holder and insert the filter artridge into the water tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder. It will lik into plae audibly. After two months, the filter will ease to work. You an hek the elapsed time by referring to the date plate on the filter holder in the water tank. T Fill the water tank with fresh, old water and reinsert the tank. T Plae a reeptale (at least 17 oz or 500 ml) under the appuino frother. FILTR RINS.. Water flows out of the appuino frother. You an interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time by pressing any button. Press the Maintenane button to ontinue rinsing of the filter. The water may be slightly disolored. This is not harmful to health and does not affet the taste. Rinsing of the filter stops automatially after approximately 17 oz (500 ml). COFF RADY appears on the display. The filter is ativated. Changing the filter After 2000 oz (60 liters) of water have flowed through, the filter will ease to work. Your IMPRSSA will automatially prompt you to hange the filter. After two months, the filter will ease to work. You an hek the elapsed time by referring to the date plate on the filter holder in the water tank. If the CLARYL Blue filter artridge is not ativated in programming mode, you will not be prompted to hange the filter. Preondition: COFF RADY / FILTR CHANG is displayed and the Maintenane button lights up. CHANG TIM 20 MIN / START YS 7

8 IMPRSSA 7 Quik Referene Guide If you do not want to start hanging the filter just yet, turn the Rotary Swith until CHANG / START NO is displayed. Press the Rotary Swith to exit the maintenane program. The prompt to hange the filter remains ative. CHANG FILTR / PRSS BUTTON T Remove and empty the water tank. T Open the filter holder and remove the old CLARYL Blue filter artridge and extension piee. T Fit the filter extension on top of a new filter artridge. T Insert the filter artridge into the water tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder. It will lik into plae audibly. T Fill the water tank with fresh, old water and reinsert the tank. T Plae a reeptale (at least 17 oz or 500 ml) under the appuino frother. T Turn the setting wheel of the appuino frother to the steam position n. FILTR RINS., water flows out of the frother. You an interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time by pressing any button. Press the Maintenane button to ontinue rinsing of the filter. The water may be slightly disolored. This is not harmful to health and does not affet the taste. Rinsing of the filter stops automatially after approximately 17 oz (500 ml). The IMPRSSA heats up and is one more ready for use. 8

Preondition: COFF RADY / CAPPU RINS is displayed and the Maintenane button lights up. T Plae a reeptale under the appuino frother. CAPPUCCINO RINSING, the appuino frother is rinsed. COFF RADY Cleaning the appuino frother J WARNING J WARNING To ensure that the appuino frother always works properly, you should lean it daily when you have been preparing milk. Your IMPRSSA will not prompt you to lean the appuino frother. Non-reommended leaning agents will not optimally remove milk residues. This may ause the appuino frother to beome bloked and fly off the mahine. Disharge of hot steam. T Use only original JURA Cappuino Cleaner. Harmful and irritating leaning agent. Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes and skin. T Keep hildren AWAY. T Avoid ontat with skin and eyes. T After ontat with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. In ase of skin irritation, seek medial advie. T After eye ontat, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water and seek medial advie. T If swallowed, rinse mouth immediately and drink large quantities of water. Do not indue vomiting. Seek medial advie immediately and show label. JURA Cappuino Cleaner is available from speialized dealers. Preondition: COFF RADY is displayed. 9

CLANR FOR CAPPUCCINO / PRSS BUTTON T Pour 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water into a reeptale and add one apful (max. 0.5 oz or 15 ml) of Cappuino Cleaner. T Immerse the milk pipe in the reeptale. T Turn the setting wheel of the appuino frother to the milk foam 5 or milk t position. T Plae another reeptale under the appuino frother. CAPPUCCINO CLANING, the appuino frother and the pipe are leaned. WATR FOR CAPPUCCINO / PRSS BUTTON T Rinse the reeptale thoroughly, fill it with 8.5 oz (250 ml) of fresh water and immerse the milk pipe in the water. T mpty the other reeptale and plae it under the appuino frother again. CAPPUCCINO CLANING, the appuino frother and the pipe are rinsed with fresh water. COFF RADY appears on the display. Dismantling and rinsing the appuino frother T Carefully pull the appuino frother down and off. T Dismantle the frother ompletely. T Rinse all frother parts thoroughly under running water. T Reassemble the appuino frother. nsure that all individual parts are orretly and firmly onneted to ensure orret operation of the appuino frother. T Firmly attah it to the onnetor. 10

11 IMPRSSA 7 Quik Referene Guide Cleaning the mahine J WARNING J WARNING After 220 preparations or 80 swith-on rinses, the IMPRSSA will prompt you to lean it. Non-reommended (e.g. liquid) leaning agents may ontain substanes that ould damage the mahine or leave residues. T Use only original JURA leaning tablets. These are speially formulated for your mahine. Harmful and irritating leaning agent. Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes and skin. T Keep hildren AWAY. T Avoid ontat with skin and eyes. T Avoid generation of dust. Do not inhale dust. T After ontat with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. In ase of skin irritation, seek medial advie. T After eye ontat, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water and seek medial advie. T If swallowed, rinse mouth immediately and drink large quantities of water. Do not indue vomiting. Seek medial advie immediately and show label. The leaning program lasts approximately 20 minutes. Do not interrupt the leaning program. The quality of leaning will be impaired if you do so. JURA leaning tablets are available from speialized dealers. Preondition: COFF RADY / CLAN is displayed and the Maintenane button lights up. CLANING TIM 20 MIN / START YS If you do not want to start leaning just yet, turn the Rotary Swith until CLANING / START NO is displayed. Press the Rotary Swith to exit the maintenane program. The prompt to lean the mahine remains ative. TRAY / MPTY T mpty the drip tray and offee grounds ontainer and put them bak into the mahine. PRSS BUTTON, the Maintenane button lights up. 11

The operation is interrupted, ADD TABLT. T Open the over of the bean ontainer. T Open the over of the filler funnel for ground offee. T Insert a JURA leaning tablet into the filler funnel. T Close the over of the filler funnel and the over of the bean ontainer. PRSS BUTTON, the Maintenane button lights up. MACHIN IS CLANING, water flows repeatedly out of the offee spout and the appuino frother. The operation is interrupted, TRAY / GROUNDS MPTY. T mpty the drip tray and offee grounds ontainer and put them bak into the mahine. Cleaning is now omplete. The IMPRSSA is one more ready for use. 12

13 IMPRSSA 7 Quik Referene Guide Desaling the mahine J WARNING J WARNING NOTIC The IMPRSSA builds up deposits of limesale over time and automatially prompts you to desale it when neessary. The degree of alifiation depends on the hardness of your water. Non-reommended desaling agents (e.g. vinegar) may ontain substanes that ould damage the mahine or leave residues. T Use only original JURA desaling tablets. These are speially formulated for your mahine. Harmful and irritating desaling agent. Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes and skin. T Keep hildren AWAY. T Avoid ontat with skin and eyes. T Avoid generation of dust. Do not inhale dust. T After ontat with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. In ase of skin irritation, seek medial advie. T After eye ontat, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water. Remove ontat lenses. Seek medial advie. T If swallowed, rinse mouth immediately and drink large quantities of water. Do not indue vomiting. Seek medial advie immediately and show label. If the desaling operation is interrupted, there may be damage to the mahine. T Allow the desaling program to run to the end. The desaling program lasts approximately 45 minutes. JURA desaling tablets are available from speialized dealers. If you use a CLARYL Blue filter artridge and this is ativated, you will not be prompted to desale. If the desaling agent omes into ontat with sensitive surfaes (e.g. marble), damage annot be ruled out. Clean up any splashes immediately. Preondition: COFF RADY / DSCAL is displayed and the Maintenane button lights up. DCALCIFYING TIM 45 MIN / START YS 13

14 IMPRSSA 7 Quik Referene Guide If you do not want to start desaling just yet, turn the Rotary Swith until DCALCIFYING / START NO is displayed. Press the Rotary Swith to exit the maintenane program. The prompt to desale the mahine remains ative. TRAY / GROUNDS MPTY T mpty the drip tray and offee grounds ontainer and put them bak into the mahine. SOLVNT IN TANK T Remove and empty the water tank. T Completely dissolve the ontents of one blister (three JURA desaling tablets) in a reeptale holding 20 oz (600 ml) of water. This may take several minutes. T Pour the solution into the empty water tank and insert it into the mahine. SOLVNT IN TANK / PRSS BUTTON, the Maintenane button lights up. T Remove the appuino frother. T Plae one reeptale under the hot-water spout and another under the onnetor of the appuino frother. MACHIN IS DCALCIFYING Water flows out of the hot-water spout and the onnetor of the appuino frother. The Maintenane button flashes during the desaling operation. The operation stops automatially, TRAY / GROUNDS MPTY. T mpty the reeptales from under the hot-water spout and the onnetor of the appuino frother. T mpty the drip tray and offee grounds ontainer and put them bak into the mahine. WATR TANK FILL T Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly. T Fill the water tank with fresh, old water and reinsert the tank. PRSS BUTTON, the Maintenane button lights up. T Refit the appuino frother. 14

The IMPRSSA heats up and is one more ready for use. If the desaling operation stops unexpetedly, rinse the water tank thoroughly. 15
