Solkane Refrigerants our knowledge on CD-ROM Technical Data Program Calculate all important thermophysical properties of Solkane Refrigerants Customise tables or calculate single points Calculate various different refrigeration cycles and plot them in detailed Ig p-h (Mollier) or T-s diagrams Export data to clipboard for use in other programs, i.e. Microsoft EXCEL Read information about environmental and safety aspects, material compatibility, electrical properties, oils etc. Calculate refrigerant line sizes based on pressure drop/velocity considerations Choose your language: English Solkane Information Service On this CD-ROM you will find our complete knowledge base: all technical documentation, publications and conference reports. You can open the most important documents e.g. the Solkane Pocket Manual directly as PDF-file. All other documents will be sent to you on request. Solkane Pocket Manual Covers principal areas of refrigeration Physical, chemical and technical data as well as thermodynamic equations to calculate thermophysical properties of Solkane refrigerants Data for planning and design of refrigerating plants Spanish Italian French German Arabic Chinese Snowball Game Stay cool with Solkane have fun with Solkane and help the snowman to fight off the attack of a gang of polar bears.
The Challenge In 1994, Solvay Fluor was the first company world-wide to stop their production and sales of CFC s. New refrigerants with higher efficiency and environmentally friendly properties had to be developed and implemented using a safe stewardship system right through to final recycling. Solvay s fluorine business has grown at a fast pace over recent years, having doubled its size from 1995 until 2002, and more than doubling that again since then. The refrigerant business has also grown during that time, in such a way that Solvay Fluor can be considered today as one of the leading manufacturers of fluorinated refrigerants worldwide. The Okorusu Fluorspar Mine in Namibia is our source for the raw material of Solkane Refrigerants Production of Solkane Refrigerants in Bad Wimpfen, Germany
Product The Situation Refrigerants play a hidden, but vital role in people s lives. The cold chain is essential for feeding the world s population and this cold chain relies on high performance refrigerants. Without refrigerants, today people s living standards would be considerably lower. Comfortable temperatures in working and living environments play an important part in sustaining the quality of life. The wide variation of applications and temperature levels in refrigeration and air conditioning requires a broad selection of specific refrigerants. Our comprehensive Solkane line of refrigerants provides a solution for virtually every problem: Solkatherm SES 36 Solkane 227ea Solkane 134a Solkane 22 Solkane 407C Solkane 410A Solkane 507 Solkane 404A Solkane 23 Solkane Refrigerants are used extensively in our daily lives. They keep food fresh, drinks cold, and provide comfortable temperatures in our living environment
Applications Evaporation Replaces Temperature C Heatpipes, Organic Ranking Cycles (ORC), CFC R-11 hightemperature heatpumps, immersion cooling Air conditioners for high ambient temperatures CFC R-114 (foundry crane cabins), high temperature heat pumps, organic rankine cycles 5 to 30 C Domestic refrigerators, automotive air conditioners, CFC R-12 heat pumps, centrifugal water chillers, transport and commercial refrigeration systems (medium temperature range) 25 to 20 C Air conditioners, commercial and industrial medium temperature refrigeration systems 40 to 20 C Air conditioners, heat pumps, cold water chillers HCFC R C 410A 20 to 20 C 50 to 20 C Refrigerated display cabinets, cold rooms, industrial CFC R-502 refrigeration systems, ice machines, supermarket refrigeration units, transport refrigeration systems 45 to 10 C Ultra low temperature cascade systems, CFC R-13 chemical processing applications 80 to 45 C, Cascade For special solutions ask our technical service!
The Concept Solvay s fully integrated production concept for Solkane refrigerants ensures close control from mining of fluorspar all the way to packaged refrigerants ready to be charged! But we don t stop there: Our unique recycling system generates useful raw materials from used refrigerants. Responsible care is a management policy. Choosing the right refrigerant and the right supplier goes far beyond evaluating physical and environmental properties and specifications. Refrigerants are system components and performance evaluation must be directed at the system rather than its components with respect to: Safety All Solkane HFC refrigerants achieve the highest safety class in all globally accepted standards for refrigerant and refrigeration safety. They are non-flammable and very low in toxicity. Because of their safety properties, Solkane refrigerants have the least restrictions with respect to installation sites and charge sizes. Ecology Environmental performance of refrigeration and A/C systems is primarily dictated by energy efficiency. Systems with Solkane refrigerants achieve top ranks in this respect. Solvay Fluor runs a thermal separation unit at its Frankfurt site, where used refrigerants (CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs), after careful recovery from the used refrigeration and A/C systems by skilled maintenance partners, are cracked into hydrofluoric acid and hydrochloric acid: Both of which are raw materials that are used again for industrial production and completely converted into new products. Solkane HFC refrigerants have zero ODP. Hydrogen Oxygen CFC/HCFC/HFC Reaction chamber Absorption Recovery of hydrofluoric acid Hydrofluoric acid 50%- Sale Recovery of hydrochloric acid Hydrochloric acid 30%- Sale Carbon dioxide Oxygen Nitrogen Traces NOX Sodium sulfite Exhaust gas washing Sodium sulfate + NaCl to biological treatment Hydrofluoric acid Carbon dioxide Hydrochloric acid Chlorine Economy Using Solkane refrigerants will save life cycle costs in various ways. High energy efficiency ensures low operating costs. The high safety class saves substantially in respect to installation sites and safety related system auxiliaries. Excellent material compatibility allows system designs with conventional and cost effective construction materials.
The Conclusion When reflecting interactions of safety, economical and environmental issues, Solkane refrigerants impressively demonstrate their superiority. With their non-ozone depleting properties, combined with complete recycling, Solkane refrigerants contribute to Solvay Fluor s responsible care program. Thinking in cycles and systems will lead you to the top product from the top supplier Solkane refrigerants from Solvay Fluor. Solvay Fluor A Global Player Solvay Fluor has offices, sites and representatives in more than 50 countries.
