This guide was prepared for you to help you sort your residual waste to ensure that it will be sent to the appropriate place where it can be made useful again. By using this guide, you will be able to determine the best practices to help reduce landfill. Follow the guide! What to do : Donate items that are still in good condition to a local community organization (furniture, appliances, clothes, home furnishings, etc.) Favour the use of containers or reusable bags Bring returnable bottles back to the retailer Use rechargeable batteries Print on both sides of the paper

4 Compostable items for the brown bin Kitchen waste We compost Kitchen and garden waste Leftover food, raw, cooked, frozen Fruits and vegetables (whole, skins, pieces) Keep a small bin in the kitchen to collect your food waste and wash it regularly Meat/poultry and bones in small quantities Fish, seafood Flour, bread, pasta, rice, pastries Solid milk products Spices, condiments, herbs Chips, sweets and nuts You are not obliged to use bags but they do help keep your bins clean and facilitate the handling of waste. If you use bags, choose compostable bags (BNQ certified) or paper bags. Styrofoam containers Pyrex or porcelain dishes Dishes, glassware, crystal ware Pots and pans Plastic wrap Paper and cardboard, plasticized, waxed, metallic, carbon We throw out garbage In the garbage bin you will find items that cannot be reused, recycled or composted Before throwing it away, ask yourself if the object is still good enough to be reused. Too many recyclable and compostable items make it into the garbage bin. Put your trash can on a diet and use your blue and brown bins to their full potential. It is a voluntary drop-off site, open to citizens. Before arriving at the Écocentre, make sure to sort your materials by category to facilitate unloading and shorten wait times. The Écocentre is reserved for use by citizens and material must come from domestic activities. NOTE : There could be a charge for certain items ( ex: construction materials.
