Imagine know exactly what you are getting before you order it. You can order with confidence knowing th each panel is completely tested before it ships. Quick-ship panels are available for almost any type of boiler, with or without outdoor reset. Imagine the ability to send boiler temp, thermostatically mixed temperature, or reset modulated water to indirect water heaters, baseboard, fancoils, radiant slabs, or staple-up. With HydroNex, you can scale up from a few zones to more than 50 zones using the same proven building block approach. The HydroNex System is based on proven Primary/Secondary y (P/S) piping. p With P/S you know exactly what is happening at all times. With HydroNex you eliminate ghost flows and call backs with check and service valves, valved flanges, unions, and pressure/temperature gauges. As easily as 1-2-3, Primary panels move heat through (1) the boiler and primary loop, (2) Distribution panels send heat to each zone, and (3) Z Panels distribute the heat to radiant circuits, (or other terminal units). Experienced contractors will find many uses for these panels to speed up and simplify the design, quoting, and installation process, both in new and retrofit systems. With the HydroNex system, logic is visual. You can easily, and almost intuitively trace out fluid flows to each zone, check for air-locked circuits, and verify the entire system is functioning correctly before you leave. All plumbing and electrical components are easy to access for quick service. A good-looking g HydroNex system adds to customer satisfaction. They can even increase the resale value of your customer s home or office. Less time in the field and fewer call-backs means more time for your family and friends. Follow the selection process in the next few pages, or call the friendly people at Watts Radiant for free design assistance for your next job.
P Panels D Panels DVIP Weather responsive control sends variable temperature water to each zone. DVIP-ZoneValve Similar to DVIP but uses zone valves with a single load pump to distribute water to zones. DMixHybrid One panel delivers two temperatures! You choose boiler temperature and mix valve options. Perfect for indirect DHW and radiant. DVIPHybrid One panel delivers two temperatures! You choose boiler temperature and weather-responsive control. Great for indirect DHW and radiant. DHX-S Add snowmelt or any other indirect heating application to your system. Z Panels (Zone panels) Stainless steel 1 manifolds distribute water to radiant, baseboard, or fancoils. Order with or without pre-wired actuators. Pre-installed in steel cabinets for each in the wall installation. ZPump and ZMixPumpZone panels are often used to add zones to existing boiler systems. ZZone Manifolds only, requires a supply line with a circulator, such as a D Panel. ZPumpZone This panel includes its own circulator, good for high temperature zones. Use for add on zones to existing boiler systems. ZMixPumpZone This panel adds a thermostatic (non-electric) mix valve to the ZPumpZone panel. S Panels These panels are designed to expand the capabilities of the HydroNex line, giving you more design options for energy saving systems. Condensing Boiler Panel Specifically designed to interface with most condensing boilers, this panel also includes many primary panel functions. GeoThermal Panel This panel makes using a ground source heat pump easy; simply add the panel to your HydroNex package and enjoy the matchless efficiency of geothermal and radiant. VIP Mechanical Room Panel A stand-alone, weather responsive, variable-speed injection pump panel. When selecting your HydroNex modular control panels, think Primary Distribution Zone Special, or PDZS.
92 Q1. Do you have a glycol-filled system? Pick a PMan panel, with the manual fill option. P (Primary) Panel Selection Answer these questions to select the correct P Panel. Q2. Do you want the convenience of an automatic fill feature? Select the PAuto panel with the built in Watts 9-11s M-3 Backflow Preventer/Boiler Fill Valve. Do not select the PAuto panel if you are using a glycol-filled system, as the glycol may be diluted, without your knowledge. Q3. Do you want the energy saving option of an automatic reset control, that changes the boiler system water temperature as outside air temperature changes? Order a Primary panel (PManR or PAutoR) with a boiler outdoor reset control. D (Distribution) Panel Selection Answer these questions to select the correct D Panel(s). Q1. Do you want the supply water temperature to a zone to be the boiler temperature? Use a DDirect Panel, which pumps straight boiler (primary loop) temperature water. Perfect for radiators, fancoils, indirect water heaters, and some staple-up. Q2. Do you want the supply water to one or more zones mixed to a lower (fixed) temperature than your boiler (primary loop) is set at? Use a DMix to deliver a fixed supply temperature. Q3. Do you need some zones supplied with boiler temperature water and some zones supplied with fixed, lower temp fluid? Use a DMixHybrid Panel. This unique panel lets you field-select how many zones will be supplied with boiler-temperature water, and how many zones will be supplied with a fixed, lower temp water. Q4. Do you want the supply water temperature to respond to outdoor weather conditions? Use a DVIP Panel. Each DVIP Panel can supply up to five zones. If you have two areas that need outdoor reset control, but require different supply temperatures, order two DVIP Panels. Q5. Do you need some zones to respond to outdoor weather conditions, and some zone supply temps to be fixed; such as an indirect water heater? Use a DVIPHybrid Panel. This unique panel lets you field-select how many zones will be supplied with boiler-temperature water and how many zones will have their water temperature adjusted by an outdoor reset control. Q6. Do you want the supply water temperature to respond to outdoor weather conditions, have up to 6 zones, and minimize the number of pumps in your system? Use a DVIP ZoneValve Panel with only one zone pump. Q7. Do you want to add snowmelt or heat exchanger capabilities to your system? Use a DHX-S panel. Various control options allow the user flexibilty in choosing the application of this panel. NOTE: You can mix and match two or more D Panels in a single project. For example, you may use DDirect Panels to supply all of your baseboard zones, while using a DVIP Panel to supply radiant slab zones.
93 Z (Zone) Panel Selection Z Panels empower Watts Radiant s well-known 1 stainless steel manifolds for many uses. These include radiant zones, or supplying smaller terminal units such as kickspace heaters, towel warmers, or radiators. ZZone panels can supply between 2 and 12 zones, while ZMix and ZMixPump panels can supply between 2 and 7 zones. Note: A designates panels where each circuit is pre-wired with an individual actuator. Each circuit can deliver 2gpm. Actuators can easily be field jumpered to feed larger zones. Q1. Are you using D Panels (or field-installed zone pumps)? Select a ZZone panel (without actuators) for a single zone. For supplying multiplezones from a single manifold, use a ZZoneA panel (with actuators). Q2. Are you supplying a radiant manifold, radiators, or other equipment directly off the boiler? The ZPumpZone is the right choice, combining a manifold with a dedicated zone pump. Use the ZPumpZoneA if the manifold is supplying multiple zones. Q3. Do you want to supply a fixed supply water temperature to a radiant floor or other zone? The ZMixPumpZone combines a zone pump, and field adjustable thermostatic mix valve. Use a ZMixPumpZoneA for feeding multiple zones. S (Special) Panel Selection Answer these questions to select the correct S Panel(s) Q1. Are you using a modular condensing boiler as a heat source? Select a Condensing Boiler Panel. This panel makes it easy to enjoy the efficiency of a condensing boiler. Q2. Are you using a ground source heat pump as a heat source? Select a GeoThermal Panel. Seamlessly integrate a ground source heat pump into your radiant system for unparalleled efficiency. Q3. 21 109 SPECIAL Special interest panels are a dedicated series designed to solve specific mechanical needs. These solutions may or may not directly incorporate other HydroNex panels. Condensing Boiler Panel This panel works with most modular condensing boilers. The master 1-1/2 stainless steel distribution manifolds supply up to 4gpm per circuit to radiators, fancoils, and/or remote radiant manifolds. A dedicated domestic hot water (DHW) priority control and pump comes with each panel. Essential functions, such as air removal, expansion tank attachment and re-filling are all taken care of on the panel. Each circuit on the master manifold is fitted with electro-thermal actuators. The pressure differential by-pass eliminates unwanted pressure-induced flow through any zone. The DHW priority shuts down the zone (space heat) pump when there is a call for domestic hot water. Standard equipment on the Modular Condensing Boiler Panel includes: Your choice of independently controlled Primary, Zone and DHW pumps, all pre-wired and tested Two 1 spring-check valves High performance micro-bubble air remover 0-50psi/60-320F gauge Service valves Pressure differential by-pass valve 1-1/2 Stainless Steel manifold with supply and return ball valves and temperature gauges Zone valve actuators, circuit flow meters (0-4gpm) and a vent/purge assembly on the supply Controls All 3 pumps are managed by the prewired control system. The zone valves are actuated by zone thermostats. Two or more circuits can be combined to serve larger zones, requiring more than 4 gpm. 22 110 SPECIAL GeoThermal Panel Do you want the comfort of a radiant floor, but without adding carbon to the atmosphere? Use a ground source heat pump to power your hydronic radiant system. The HydroNex GeoThermal panel ties a water/water ground source heat pump to a radiant heating system. Patent Pending, and an industry first, this panel comes with a pre-wired outdoor reset control. This control allows the heat pump to operate at the lowest possible water outlet temperature, ensuring maximum efficiency and compressor life. As the temperature outside drops, the control automatically ramps up the outlet temperature from the heat pump. This innovative approach results in dramatic energy savings, compared to the use of standard set point controls, where the heat is almost always working harder than it needs to. The hydronic system must be carefully designed to not require use of water greater than 110 o F to 115 o F; the upper limit of most heat pumps. Use our RadiantWorks Software to verify maximum required system temperatures. This panel is designed to be used with standard hot water heater tanks for thermal buffer/storage. The buffer tanks eliminate short-cycling of the heat pump, extending compressor life. This also gives the building owner the manual option of having emergency heat capacity. Standard equipment on the GeoThermal panel includes: pre-wired pumps 1 Spring Check valves on supply and return to the heat pump Isolation ball valves for field-service of each pump Pre-wired Tekmar 256 outdoor reset control Cat5e cable connection for communication with other HydroNex panels Pre-wired system solenoid valve Temperature and pressure gauges White, powder-coated steel enclosure with cover Controls The heat pump will only run when the temperature of the buffer tanks falls below the weather responsive control setpoint. If there is no call for heat from the system, the solenoid valve will remain closed, directing hot water into the buffer tanks, until the required temperature is met. Whenever the radiant system calls for heat, the solenoid valve will open, automatically allowing hot water to flow from the tanks and/or from the heat pump. All controls come completely pre-wired and tested. The only field wiring required is the outdoor reset sensor, heat pump connection, and the plug and play Cat5e connection to the other HydroNex panels. This panel is designed to be installed with a PMan or PAuto HydroNex Primary Panel; and a DDirect Panel for load zone control. It is not a stand alone panel. It is suitable for use on up to six ton water/water geothermal heat pumps. See our design/installation manual or contact us for free design assistance. The weather-responsive design ensures the right water temperature is always running through the radiant floors. Look at the panel below for details. at the same temperature, but only run when a thermostat calls for heat. Many other options are available. The injection pump on the left is pumping water from a boiler (not shown) into the distribution zone on the right. As the weather gets colder, the injection pump on the left speeds up to put more heat into the radiant loop; as the weather gets warmer the pump slows down, putting less heat into the radiant loop. The seven pumps on the right are moving water through the individual radiant circuits and operate at a constant speed.
115 Custom HydroSkids for Commercial and Industrial Snowmelting Offer your clients the latest in automatic snowmelting systems.
