4 NextGeneration Alarm and Event Screens for WinCC OA Motivation: Alarm and Event Screens are the basic tools used both by operators and experts Many long-standing requirements from the user community Current solution is not extensible, buggy and requires considerable effort to maintain Scope and goals: Implement new Alarm and Event Screens for WinCC OA that have truly extensible and modular architecture and support long-awaited features Build JCOP, UNICOS and PSEN (CERN Electricity SCADA) screens as extensions on top of them NextGeneration AES Now UNICOS AS JCOP AS Configuration and plugins DSS AES PSEN AS WinCC OA AES JCOP UNICOS Base AS UNICOS ES PSEN ES PSEN Base ES Common AES functionality

6 Recent developments and sources of initial requirements Work done so far: Key architectural decisions for the Alarm Screen in Live Mode were made Evaluation of Qt and Boost classes for core functionality, implementation of GUI prototypes Implementation of the algorithm for keeping the list of active alarms (of all types) Initial requirements for the Alarm Screen in Live Mode were collected from: Existing functionality High-level Requirements for Next Generation Alarm Management Tools in WinCC OA (EDMS ) Jira cases ( Future-AES label) Discussions with developers and users

7 Requirements document Includes initial requirements for both Alarm and Event Screens Requirements and GUI mockup for the Event Screen are not finished yet Structure of the document To be published both in EDMS and SharePoint this week Feedback to be sent to or added as comments in the SharePoint document Deadline for input for version 1.0 of Alarm Screen in Live Mode end of June 2018

12 Filter Hierarchies Filter Hierarchies allow to organize filters in tree structures, providing an overview of and facilitating navigation in presence of many alarms Also usable as a standalone widget in panels

13 Grouping Both simple grouping on values from a single column and complex grouping (on filters) will be possible

14 Support for distributed and redundant systems Alarm Screen will support distributed and redundant systems All tests will be executed in DIST/REDU configurations too It will be possible to select systems from which alarms are displayed (using filters) Connections to alarms in distributed systems will be reliably monitored using heartbeat alarms alarms triggered every N seconds by a DP function in all systems

15 Support for external alarm sources New Alarm Screen will support display of alarms coming from other sources than WinCC OA alarm system Simplified interface will be provided for external alarms (create, read, update, delete) All features like filtering, grouping and sorting will also be available for external alarms Simultaneous use of multiple alarm sources for different alarm tables (Filter Views, Filter Hierarchies)

16 Headless mode and data export Clear separation between alarm models and views enables new use cases, through use of Alarm Screen data in CONTROL Managers (with no GUI): Serving data to external applications and websites Notification systems (e.g. when an alarm fulfilling a specific filter appears) Contents of the alarm screen will be exportable to CSV and HTML files

19 Summary NextGeneration Alarm and Event Screens project aims at resolving problems with the existing Alarm and Event Screens at CERN: Development of the Alarm Screen is progressing well However, due to the scope of the project, all mentioned dates are tentative Please send feedback or ideas on requirements for v1.0 of the Alarm Screen in Live Mode by the end of June Convoluted and hard to maintain codebase, lots of code/functionality duplication Low reliability (especially for UNICOS AES), lack of tests No possibility to implement features required by the users You can also take a look at the part for the Event Screen, but it is not yet finished Most important dates: Alarm Screen (Live Mode) prototype end of September 2018 Event Screen (History Mode) prototype January 2019 Version 1.0 of both screens June 2019
